Just a heads up, if you plan on changing any core files in the installation directory, remember to save the original. The current patcher does not update changed files. You must restore the core file to original before patching, or the file update will simply be skipped. This is true as of 0.91
IMHO, they keep talking about how amazing and organic and dynamic the skill system is, but noone really explains how the hell it works. I like the feel of the environments, but the characters look dull as sand. I don't play computer games to look at people on my screen that I can look at going out the door. I'll wait for a trial period.

Also, reporters who demo alpha versions rarely report on bugs because it would be pointless. The actual players are much less forgiving.

You can change the existing environments, yes, but you cannot add more. There are only 3 environments that are accepted in FE (in E:wom we had 5). I don't know about plans to improve or open up this feature. I requested that way back in E:wom.

To disable core units, you need to replace all the pioneer unittypes with a new one. I loved the combat in fantasy wars, far better than Civ5 of course. Unfortunately, I got into fantasy wars too late, the graphics were too ugly for me to watch while playing so I couldn't enjoy it. The tower defense these guys just released was a total disappointment. I'll wait for reviews and patches before I pick up this game, but if it looks good and plays like a better fantasy war with strategy elements, I'm in.
