It's not looking like there will be a 64-bit version of Elemental afterall. Intel apparently wants to charge tens of thousands of dollars for a 64-bit version. No new functionality mind you, just 64-bit. That's a no-go for us unfortunately. The big advantage for 64-bit for us is that we can address more than 2 gigabytes of memory which allows us to stuff a lot more visual effects, textures, and elements into t

Like I said, it was very hard to find good reference pictures, so I used a lot of "artistic license" You can try to search for screenshots or even the demo released by the Minas Tirith Project, they did a lot of concept, renders,... (a pitty the project died).
Th
Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 will cause a mass upgrade shift as number 1 most anticipated PC exclusives, so the number of people you are adapting the game for is really going to be irrelevantly marginal.
That's right, because everyone on the planet cares SOOO much about those two games, they will all rush out to buy $5000 gaming rigs just to play them. I can see it now, in about 6 months everyone who plays PC games will have 16 GB o

"angley" is not necessarily bad (http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2920671). Anyway, so far looking good.
Hm, I guess you're right, it does kind of look like lipstick[e digicons]:P[/e] Angley isn't bad, it just doesn't seem like "Gondor" to me. I'd almost say that it looks like a futuristic missile or something. Maybe it will

Ok, in the interest of keeping this thread alive, I have a little status update[e digicons]:P[/e] I am still, very slowly, texturing Barad-dur. But I kind of got a little sick of it, so I'm taking a break from it to work on other models, namely the Tower of Ecthelion (ie, the White Tower of Minas Tirith) Whether the rest of the city gets modeled with this remains to be seen[e digicons]:P[/e] And speaking of the Tower, do you have any idea how hard it is to get a decent picture of it

And even then, I'd wait to it have some bones and meat before adding it anywhere. I want to make this mod (obviously) but right now it just wishful thinking and some really wonderful art from Wizards of the Coast (hmmm possible civilization?). Which reminds me that I should sharpen my pencils and try drawing something someday. WotC art as proxy is reall
kyogre: Glad you saw that some new posts went up. Keeping up with our twitter account was one of my NYR's. One of my other resolutions was to use less emoticons ( ** resists urge to wink ** ).
Of course. I actually still check it daily, just in case. Plus, every now and then Island Dog or someone will give away stuff on Twitter. I don't want to miss that![e digicons]:P[/e]
I wish this poll wasn't done over the holidays as I would have liked to have voted. Maybe I could have boosted up Balder's Gate and gotten Deus Ex on the list (Balder's would have been #1, Deus Ex probably in the top 3).
You would have had to vote for Baldar's Gate about 5 times to get it in the top three. Deus Ex, about 15 times. 1, 2 and 3 were sweeps, waaay above everyone else. And seriously, how many times do I have to say it? Of course it's baised towards S

Why not give each race its own UI? Give each race a UI that fits their personality/traits. Based off of the backstories you've given so far, I'd say the Federation would be the rich executive style, Verdania would be all metal, dull gray, that sort of thing. Of course the title menu couldn't really be faction specific, so maybe that would be the "classic" sci-fi. But this reminds me, I need to start coming up with ideas for the UI for my mod[e digicons]:P[/e]
well, the current version of FFH2 needs the 3,19 (or whatever is newest) patch on BTS. there is a vanilla version somewhere though.
Hmmm. Maybe you could change the model, and put physical holes in it instead of textured holes, or make the polygons on the model invisible. The possible problems with that is that Elemental might work similar to Sins of a Solar Empire. In Sins, if you made parts of the model itself "clear" those parts would just appear black in game. If niether of those work, I think it would still be doable, but much harder. If you are really
I don't think units should have to gain experience or in any way "grow into" the ability to use their weapons to full potential. If I can afford to equip an entire 1000-man army with lightning infused mithril swords, I should be able to, without any arbitray level limits or whatever. "Oh, my army is only at 50% efficiency until they all get to level 10... great..." I like Tasunke's suggestion better, that leveling up makes that u
