2. Allow more than one filetype to be converted to .hkb. Again using Sins as an example, you had to use XSI to get a model in the right format to get it converted to something the game can use. Eventually a user wrote a script so that 3ds Max could export it, too, but it didn't always work. If it has to be in a specific format, please make sure that there are free programs that can export in that format. So far all the offical references to
Let me know if you can open them. That's something I'd like to find out, how easy it is to import vanilla models and edit them.As of Blender 2.5, there is no way to open them or export them. I'm not even exactly sure what program actually makes them, but intend to google a few answers. UPDATE: Done! Even the iternets have no idea what these files are. The only hit was for some program called "Hot Keyboard" that I guess store
Yeah, I have no idea how much if this oddness is from the engine and how much is from the models..... the white underlayer could just be another material. Another thing I was working on was the possibility of outlining all the individual polygons on the UV map in a colored border with a jet-black interior, to make a sort of rasterized wire-frame look (did I say this before?) that looks techy without being transparent. That, and I'm going to try ope
Hmmm. Maybe you could change the model, and put physical holes in it instead of textured holes, or make the polygons on the model invisible. The possible problems with that is that Elemental might work similar to Sins of a Solar Empire. In Sins, if you made parts of the model itself "clear" those parts would just appear black in game. If niether of those work, I think it would still be doable, but much harder. If you are really, really good at texturing, I bet you could make something
One of the things that I would like to do is change the format of the cloth map. Alter the pewter pieces to make them look like holographic projections or something, and the cloth map into some sort of command matrix which better fits a more sci-fi look.
You should be able to already do that. Just edit the stuff in the Gfx folder for the map using something like Gimp. The pewter piece might be a little harder, because I ima

It's not a gadget, but I finally got Dragon Age: Orgins. It's amazing[e digicons][/e]

Less than a week left to vote!
Actually, I would say those would all be "hypothetical" mods to go along with the Lord Frogboy the Wise mod[e digicons]:P[/e]
I think you'll just have to wait for SD's response. No idea when you'll get that, though. With the holidays and stuff, it could be a while before they get to you.
Most "important" users (Karma coud be used for Stardock forums) would be featured as Heroes that could be recruited. There would be different power levels (and maintenance costs). For those worried about Karma: 20+ Minor Hero; 70+ Hero; 120+ Great Hero; 200+ Epic Hero. Users like Annatar would be given automatically a rank and role in the mod similar to those of Dragons in Elemental. So if you were hoping to recruit Annatar easily, forget about it.
Yes, minor hero!
To pull again from Sins of a Solar Empire, in the late game a successful player can, due to stockpiling, typically afford to lose several fleets and planets before they are materially injured in a serious way. With a flow system, a Sins player would be immediately injured, having lost potential capacity.
This, I think, is a somewhat flawed analogy. In late game Sins, you have so many planets generating so much income that a loss of one or two planets is not going to pu
The first nasty PM I got was regarding Elemental. The user accused me of being a troll and "anti-Stardock" for trashing the Elemental beta as "sucking". I PM'd back and said I am the CEO of Stardock but I couldn't prove it other than trying to show my account #. Unfortunately, my account # doesn't show up on JoeUser.com where this user came from. The second nasty PM I got was from a user who accused me of being (to quote) a "Steam fanboi" because I said Steam's co
I don't really like this system. I think it puts too much focus on trying to make your kingdom/empire as big as possible to accomadate as many as possible +flow structures. With the stockpiling system, you can still get the "big" stuff (giant castles, super spells, whatever) it just takes longer than the person who controls more resources. With the flow system, if you control a smaller section of the map, you can't get the "big" stuff no matter what, because you don't control enough o
This one seems pretty obvious, but no one has suggested it yet, so I guess I will: "An evil dragon is terrorizing one of your towns, go stop it!" Alternatives on this would be "An evil dragon is terrorizing someone else's town, save the town and you get a relations bonus with them!" Or, "An evil dragon kidnapped your daughter, save her before she is eaten!" And one more, "An evil dragon kidnapped the daughter of nation X, save her and you get a relations bonus
I've ready on other forums that people are worried that the super hard core are going to turn Elemental into something "unplayable". I don't think many people here realize how unpleasant it would be to have to go around and re-equip or upgrade units to have frost-resistant armor. Most games only have 1 type of damage protection - armor. Elemental will have 2: mundane and magical. When I play Dragon Age:
