Personally, I think He'd use Leopard, since that's Apple's OS, and we know how important an apple was in the whole garden story.
Well I think it was more about "fruit of wisdom" in general. I do not believe an "apple" is a 100% accurate translation. That being said, I do not believe he would use Leopard because Leopard has problems with WEP-open vs. WEP-shared security for some reason. Not as much as 10.3 did, but more than 10.4
I can only hope that w7 will be the last os for quite sometime....i mean look at the gap between xp and vista..huge....... if ms again comes out with another os next year.....ill be throwing up my hands.....i certainly cant afford a new os every year or so.....its unfair and i think nothing more than a scheme for ms to make more money....... *grrr*
Well Windows server 2003 came out right after XP. So I wouldn't be surprised if there is a server version to be
I don't mind paying the normal price of like $100-$200 for an OS (I assume that is normal price. That is about what I've always paid for it) though I don't like the whole Home vs. professional vs. ultimate thing. Like, home should be totally cheap if they are going to do that, so any hum-bum user can use it. ultimate shouldn't be a version, it would be an add-on expansion like the "plus" feature for old 95/98
I'm down with that. I agree, it should be fun from the cloth map. In fact, I don't see what you couldn't do from the cloth map anyway, I mean its a TBS game! besides, I think the cloth map looks like 'good graphics'. Just because its 2D doesn't mean the graphics are bad. It still in a high resolution and at 60 fps right? That's good in my book. So... what is this I hear about Alphas? Do we get to see somethin
having the game automaticly pause after every action, effectively auto-pausing the game every single round of combat. This made "unpause" your "turn button".
Right, I guess I wasn't very clear by using quotes. Sorry about that. I should have used brackets I guess, since I was changing the original name. But yes, it is unpause. But it is the spacebar which is end turn in most games. Also, in my manual here it says "combat
We are getting a bit into this in the multiple display thread. Talking about different things that could be done for hotseat using 2 moniters. Ideas right now include 'cinimatic view' on the 2nd (or 3rd?) display so that the not-playing player(s) have something to watch, and possibly having an option where the players are split between the different screens so that users can move the monitor in such a way that each player cannot see the other screen so you can have hotseat games
wouldn't you still have to throw the mouse and keyboard back and forth? A bit of off-topic, but I wonder if it's possible to run multiple keyboards at the same time
Yes, you would. But in times past the way we tried to do it was only 1 person would be in the room at a time. Being able to both sit down and just pass the mouse back and forth wouldn't be too bad. Especially since it is likely to be the same table.
Total War is not, Baldur's gate is. Baldur's gate had the option that would pause it every turn and you'd have to hit 'end turn' to continue. You could turn this off though and the turns would tick by on their own, which is how most people played since I believe it was the default. Total War has no such feature, so while mechanically it is turn-based perhaps, there is nothing like that on the surface. I *think* I know what you are talking about thou
So, just for reference. Where did somebody say it wasn't turn based? I think that source should be brought to front, because from what I understand it is. If its going to be like "X-com meets dungeons and dragons" (I'm pretty sure that is a quote from somewhere in an article about elemental, possibly an interview) that means E:WoM is turn-based.
Great mock-up. Your post makes me think of Roller Coaster tycoon's landscape powers. It was actually pretty complex in the number of different slopes you could have (since it could have more complex shapes than your slanted A) You could also build a weighted elevator on that cliff. They've had those a long long time. Cranes and such back in ancient greek times used the same pully and weight concept anyway. So in a world of magic, it is
no, don't worry about it. I don't really feel like multi-moniters is supposed to be in the 3D glasses thread. In fact, I thought you were posting this thread in part to get the discussion out of the 3D glasses and into its own thread since it appeared it needed it. And apparently the UI options wasn't very clearly marked (and it was like 3 pages deep in the forum) (this was technically posted after luckmann's post) Another thi
It was also touched heavily here in this post. (pretty much the main topic) https://forums.elementalgame.com/329677 There I talked about several UI options, not just multiple monitors, but it has some ideas of how different UI features could work on both single and multiple monitors. The post itself is quite old though, so this new thread is needed. I'm also shocked you arn't in that thread. You are in m
Funny, I was just having a discussion with somebody about a tesla coil. We were thinking of trying to create a solid state tesla coil. I do not believe I had a discussion about tesla coils before that since high-school where we built one. Funny how it seems like when you hear about something, it seems like you start to hear about it all over the place at one time.
+ y for beeing attack by a scary KNOWN monster. Yeah, our army knows the weakness of the monster and all our weapons are equipped with kryptonite. Hehe, come to me, sweet monster. I'd like this if it weren't so universal. Just because I'm aware of Big Scary Monster and maybe even I know some of its weaknesses, I'm not going to be happy to see it burst into battle against me, I might just be a little less terrified. But, if we can specially equip or train units to be particu
I currently am setting up to have a GTX 280 thanks to some price cuts that are hitting the market with the release of the GTX 295. I do not have the money to run SLI (nor the will to do so. The GTX280 will be enough for now) but I am still thinking of upgrading to 3 moniters (because there is a hot deal on one). How can I go about doing this without directly going SLI? Can I just install a crappy video card to use as additional moniter sup
no computer game to date actually deserves the genre name.
I disagree. I think that some deserve the name, but much less than given it. For example, Daggerfall I felt was as close to a table-top RPG as could be done in 1996. So I think it deserves the title, though you may want to add "computer RPG" rather than "table-top RPG". Its like if my home-made cream tastes great, and it makes my cream soda taste like crap. c
Another thing is to have an opening tutorial that not only teaches you the basics of how to play the game, but is intriguing enough to play through it and have fun while doing it.
also, if for any reason you are playing through again, you should have a "look, I did this before. Bugger off" feature that will let you at least not have constant forced help. Not skip the first level, because the first level should be too important to skip, not s
If it were mine . . I might install a sound pack that roared like a dragster once in a while. And smoke. I'd add smoke.
[e digicons][/e] How about fire that syncs with said dragster noises?
my case is quite. However one of the fans is startig to become noisy anyway. I am inspired by your post to use my tax return (may it come quickly after Feb) to upgrade my PC.
Another fun modifier could be getting a temporary boost to morale for taking down an enemy Big Scary Monster. So not only would your units (at least nearby) no longer be negatively affected by that unit's scary presence anymore, they would also receive an extra morale boost on top of that. And/or maybe have the opposite effect if one of your own Big Scary Monsters falls.
Well, then I bring up the idea of having more than 2 sides in a battle. In AoW, battles
So, this is an important topic I wondered if it should go into Ideas just because it will likely spawn new concepts, but since its just talking about Elemental's prequel in spirit, Master of Magic, I figure it should be fine for general. Master of Magic is a Great game. Its a game so great that it often gets on best-of lists for its excelent mechanics and extreme depth. However, one thing that is not usually discussed that should still be addressed, and that is
Flight might also be effected my elevation. "low flying" things like hot-air balloons and birds might not be able to get over mountains, where high-flying things like wind dragons and the flying cities that exist far above the clouds could. In Warhammer, many flying units have the power to 'fly high' above the battle field where they are effectivly removed from the field for a short period of time (too high for archery fire), then they can come down where ever they want th
This is exactly how I imagine something like a moral system to work. Scary things like bear cavalry and demons and stuff would just generally just have an additional "-1" that would stack with "is cavalry" rather than bear cavalry getting a special catigory "-2", it would get 2 predetermined "-1"s. You might also get a +1 for having such creatures on your side. If that +1 for friendly unit on flank is a huge fantastic creature or a legion of bear cavalr
Well balance and modability we know they are planing to do. Rather than stereoscopic 3D glasses, I'd rather see duel-moniter support and windowed mode support. That would be the same people doing it, unlike balance which I'd imagine might not be the 3D interface guys (like the same parts of the team that COULD make stereoscopic 3D glasses would be making duel-moniter support), Duel-moniters are MUCH more common than 3D glasses. And even if I had 3D glasses, I'd pro
Certainly. I'm going to be posting where I can. But others could in theory use 'created a thread about this contest on forum xxxx' as an entry to the contest. Its not very creative or impressive, but it will let others know which is great for tilt. And especially right now where there arn't other entries, it will put you in 1st place ^_^
