I am very happy to hear you like it I'll make more once I'm done creating that faction for Luckmann. I'll even update it with a picture if I can get my photoshop to install on Win 7 (haven't tried yet). Creating interesting characters (heroes or otherwise) is my favorite thing (other than spending time with lovely ladies or upgrading my computer). So I WILL return :P

I was sad that HoMM5 doesn't really have much of a random map generator (at least not without expansions or patch. They added a map editor after a few patches, but it looked like you had to do all creation from scratch)
About being a professional writter: Do you need to have previous work experience, or would you be willing to consider someone who might have some talent? Do you need to complete a large workload, or could you work part time through university (as time permits)?
Heh, I was thinking the same thing, Divine Wrath (though I do have some experiance. I was the Creative Lead/writer on a small 3D action-adventure Game called Rosestone. It was never, and will never, b
But that sort of mechanic requires a ton of work. And given that the game takes place in a "dead" world the seas would probably not be the safest place to be. You certainly couldn't fish for food unless you spend magic to make the sea liveable.
Well I figured that was part of it. I mean that is the same as forests and everything else. After it is made livable is when it is usable. That being said, I would like some really cool things that somehow sur
I was meaning to pick up my olde copy of Master of Orion. Maybe I'll do that next chance I get. I wonder if it runs fine on Windows 7?
Yeah, they have not said anything. They HAVE said that they want some parts of the game like quests and such feel more RPG-ish. That could mean that we get a lot of focus on our heroes, or it might mean we get very little in favor of having an awesome channeler. I really am not hurt either way. I assume however you meet them, you'd have to pay for their services. Maybe you can get one through a quest or something, but I can't imagine it
Name: Rottic Hair/eye: Black/dark brown portrait: *none right now, but he's a tan guy* History: He got his start riding around town upon an old donkey. He was not particularly bright, but he had a strong spirit and was able to get things done. "There's Rottic sitting on his ass again" the towns folk called him in jest, since he was really compitant dispite his foolish nature. One day he and hi
When I said a little bigger I was thinking of a small island. Say the size of the island in the original Master of Magic Demo.
Never played the demo. I first encountered the game when I got my hands on a CD and instruction booklet of the actual game (that instruction booklet was awesome)
It would be nice if the game just KNEW if you were on an island. That way if you are on a landmass that is less than desirable it would just automatically
*dances* HUGE amount of information today, but at the same time so little. What a great update! Is there anything we can do to help with the quests? perhaps early mod-work in the beta in terms of scripting or something like that? I know some of the people out here could help out to ensure we get as complete as you'd want to see for it. It sounds like a really great thing. How does the research thing play out as a
is that 1 tile? I was wondering. A little bigger but with nothing on it would be a problem for several reasons. If it was MUCH bigger, and you didn't need resources then perhaps it would work, but >_>;
why does that have the start menu all the way accross. I can't seem to do that on mine (XP or Win 7). Also, those must be either really light or really strong because if the end screens are THAT FAR away from any kind of support, they'd be near breaking or something. Certainly it couldn't be very stable. Also, based on the size of those icons, that must be running on a really low resolution or have super-large icons turned on. Mine would
I blame my new chat program "pidgin" for that 'd' typo. You know, come to think of it there was a time where random map generation was hardly a thing. Like Heroes of Might and magic lost some random map generating powers. Maybe its just that and RTS games, but still. More games should have random map generators. (I'm sure that is easier said than done)
hmmmm..... RPG-ish worlds (see thread posted by pigeonx2 above) This is a good thread, mainly because it has a lot of dev talking in it. I just hope they do a better job than say "texas" in Age of Empires 2. Like there is a map that just makes texas floating in an ocean... >. I've seen a few good "world" maps that are based on the real earth world, so if you can make a map genera
yeah, gamestop pre-orders arn't what get you into the beta. I saw the Sins special edition at EB games (I think, because that is where I got it... well gamestop, but its the same company) so I don't see why demigod is any different.
probebly a local major router or something like that. Blame your local (or 2nd most local) ISP XD especially if you are in the midwest. Its probebly AT&T's stupid Redbacks being dumb (I work tech support for them, so I know :P ) Obviously its not the ENTIRE internet (unless you're hearing news of the end of the world) Run trace routes... sometimes you'll see a common IP address after which there are
I wasn't expecting a new windows so soon after Windows Vista. I haven't even had time to upgrade yet (because frankly, there hasn't been a reason to do so). I usually let a few years pass by before updating to the latest windows, so that it's actually stable and.. y'know, usable.
comments like these always amuse me. Why? new windows OS come out every 2 years >.< Sometimes 3 sometimes 1... XP was a freak in
ASCII!!!! man, yeah we should not even have map, we should have all ASCI beyond the basic UI @ could be a town H is a hero C is a channeler c is a catapult M a monster lair m is a test generic monster D is a dragon d is a 'dude' generic unit S is a war ship s is a skeleton N is a shard (node) n is a naga k is a knight unit B is bear cavarly b is a bugbear (fantastic creature) Z is a zombie
Maybe an option or a function of difficulty level. If you were playing at Impossible difficulty level, maybe a starting position like the one above (not quite so nasty) would be a possibility.
That would be grand, rather than just changing settings for all players, the advanced players will perhaps be put in tougher starting locations, and the noob/easy players will be in more forgiving location. Another example I can think myself using is a 3 player (or more) g
There can be some fun in horrible biased starting locations
I agree. jonny said something about being able to influence starting position, such a thing would be nice. I of course have no idea what you have to ensure it is 'interesting' for us, boogiebac. However if there was some sort of map options that let us influence it that would be awesome.
oh right! the hero groups could give the quests as well I guess! the main suggested idea all point towards the same idea though. Pigeonx2, you made me think of something. If these channelers are supposed to be near ageless or something (since they obviously live for many generations) the way you could both keep a hero between campaign levels and not be stupid broken by the end of it is by having the heroes be generations as well. I mean,
Now my machine is making backups every night.
I currently have 1.5 TB of space in my computer. I'm tempted to actually start making back-up partitions (even though I don't know what would be worth backing-up like that)
I think giving them self-creating stories. Like having events or quests related to your heroes. As well as have heroes do things that reflect personalities. Age of Wonder had quests, but they didn't amount to much. Sins of a Solar Empire have quests that different factions requested things like (go kill this guy, or give me money) but they didn't really create colorful characters as they were all the same. Quests might includ
yay for boogie bac's responce Anyway, to add is I really liked the Sins of a Solar empire way. Where there were a bunch of symbols and you could pick your colors. The only problem is you only got 1 color, where it should be more like a symbol with at least 2 or 3 colors and you get to pick from that. (I was jellous of the nuetral factions because they had colorful and interesting icons)
Pre-beta feedback: Map generation should check to ensure starting cities are not isolated on an island all by their lonesome (unless you are about to build into the ocean) Man, I want my floating landmass spell. So, I am interested to see how other feels about that. Obviously the above should never happen. However how balanced do we want starting locations? I like my games (Be it Civ IV, Master
I have more cables than you, mr. topic poster, apparently. Mine is a mesh of wires. I have even more than normal I think because I run my video game consoles (Wii, PS3) and cable though my computer and/or monitor.
