Actually, if one side's bear cavalry are standing still while enemy bear cavalary are bearing down on them, the ones facing the charge maybe should face a larger morale hit than the charging ones. Mere presence shouldn't be the only thing affecting morale; actions should count at least as much.
I don't know... both sides are pretty much F***'d by definition. I'd be peeing my pants no matter who's side I was on in that case.

yeah. Logically alpha just means 1st attempt and beta means 2nd. As our friend Ron L says, there really isn't any standard other than the definition of the word. That also being said, yeah, beta generally means MOST of the game is complete. I'd challange you to find a game that ever has its design 'complete' on all levels. You can ask most game designers "if you could, would you change something?" and they likely would tell you yes. Many
somebody should add Elemental to the chat feature on Impulse.
they say they are currently working with microsoft to ensure that the drivers are going to be the best... that being said I imagine its gone through several versions since the beta's release.
Its a special night. anyway, I've decided that I'm buying Win 7 based on the beta, unless they somehow mess it up.
I was going to. I don't see luckmann stating that it had to be though.
@Denryu - I know what you mean. To me it is still a battle system like HoMM or MoM, everything else is just hypothetical brainstorming to me. I personally don't expect it to be RTS at all, expect whatever isn't classic TBS about it will be something new and innovative that won't be the obomination I think we fans may have constructed in our discussion thread. I do expect some dungeon crawling of sorts in an X-com/Fallout style, but again I
And not necessarily cutscenes; in fact I think having the animations occur on the strategic or tactical map (whichever is relevant) is even better than having a window pop up where a scene plays out (like when you complete wonders in Civ IV).
yeah, well a small window is not needed, but I DO want to see things like the "you have summoned... WAR BEARS!" (or whatever is appropriate), "you have cast... Just cause", "Bob-da'wizard has cast... armagedon". T
OH MAN! somebody said it! SCRUM! I never actually thought I would hear it outside EA or some other big company like that where they have consultants tell project leads how to manage their development processes
xthetenth returned! It has been months!
ah Pigeonx2. I have a compromise idea about those time limits. Let us make the time limit feature an option BUT! make the battle scene so awesome it is a game in and of itself. In the total war series you could play multiplayer battles that are just that. You get like X points to get whatever units you want, upgrade to vetran if desired, and so on. This game is going to have oodles of custom units to play with, and sometimes you
I'm working on it >. I've just been busy. I actually have it half typed up, I just want it to be awesome too but I don't want to do something as cheesy as "cat people who are really sexy and uh... like drugs and whipping humans" (I tried to think of the most over-done example. Mine is going to be nothing like) If you want, I will submit a sample tomorrow. It won't have a flag yet or be completed.
DVORAK drivers? its not drivers that changes it, it is the language options. It is installed on every single PC windows ME and up, and its on the install disc for 95 and 98 (but not installed by default). You can't not install the Dvorak layouts with windows anymore unless you don't install English because it is the only other US keyboard "standard" according to IME or whatever that acronym is for who manages that stuff. You can pick to use
I'm pretty lucky. I can check it at work. I get lonely late at night though when people aren't posting. Like I keep refreashing the page and checking both general and ideas going (did anybody say something?) Then when a post does appear, but it is like a small post that doesn't really add anything, I don't want to seem like an annoying troll by making every other post mine. When its a conversation, thats fine... but really I just want to be a go
can you create gradient and other bizzar stuff with the opacity on Windows Blinds? (haven't played with it in ages, since one of my friends had it, I never did)
Zaisha, you don't need to be computer savy. Just download a program called "dosbox" > get the windows version. The most you need to be able to do is drag and drop. Drag/drop dos-box into your MoM folder using the right mouse button to create a shortcut (or the other way around), then simply grag/drop one of the icons onto the other (usually best with the MoM shortcut to Dos-box) again with the right mouse button and pick "open with" and BOOM! you h
I also really like your 'resume' idea Tamren. It probably wouldn't save you in the case of the game crashing, though, because the game would probably not have the opportunity to record your current state unless it does it constantly in the background (which would be a poor use of resources). But nonetheless a great idea. I've been in the middle of huge battles in games like HoMM when something comes up and I really need to quit immediately. The options presented in HoMM games were pret
Sorry Pigeonx2, don't know how that got in there. I fixed it. I kinda imagine that it wouldn't be hard to make upgradable support for multiple monitors for Elemental. Like Supreme commander has 2 moniter support. Where if they system was good, you could continue to divide up the UI so that like, say if you had a single big widescreen monitor you could still benifit as if you had 2 monitors, but if you had 2 big widescreen monitors you
If there are additional planes, from here you might get some voice acting to come into play, such as "Show me the underworld.", and the scrying device then takes you to the top most point of that map and you can further dive deeper in, or continue to look at other areas.
I'm with ya, except the voice acting. Underworld would work if that is all they have. But if they have multiple plains Master of Magic style, they will probebly have some sort of
I thought of something. Perhaps, if you are in full out map mode and you switch between different plains of existance or to the underground map (assuming they exist), another map is literrally rolled out over the existing one (or the map gets rolled up and carried off screen). alternatively the screen could just slide over to another part of whatever table it is on to show another map, though I like the rolling cloth idea more. (the animation should be quite speedy)</p
Some games that rely entirely on checkpoint-based save systems run into rather stupid problems. I remember reading one player's experience with mirrors edge. One level of that game takes place in a really big pit, I've never seen it myself but the description sounds a lot like a missile silo. The objective is to essentially climb out of the pit through any means available. The problem that player had was that when he took a big fall off a platform and died at the bottom of the pit. The
Allow the saving of games at any time, yes even during cutscenes. This can be managed depending on the circumstances. A game saved during a cutscene could reload at the beginning of that cutscene, or prefferably where the player left off.
ah, this one I have to fight. "Quicksave" or something similar is fine, they should exist. (a save game that gets deleted when loaded, and otherwise takes you out of the game so you can pick up exactly where you left off)&n
Quoting StoweMobile, reply 5 I would kill to get in on that LOL! The game is probably better in it's primitve state than anything else out right now....except for GalCiv 2 of course If you would kill to get into the beta, you might as well pre-order now. Assuming of course that a life is worth more than$49.95 to you (pre-order gives you bet
So, with the new post by frogboy we know that the 1st beta is going to be a cloth map. Its been mentioned zooming in to see leaves on a tree, all the way out to see a big cloth map is an objective of SD with this game. Now, I personally have a hard time wrapping my head around how exactly this is going to work. Most of the screenshots do not show blades of grass or leaves no a tree, but now I do not believe that it was dropped when they
I don't know what policies there are about multiple instalations of 1 purchased game, but just to make it stated. This means I WILL be installing at least 2 copies of the beta. So that I can test it on my SH*ty laptop for testing purposes. Right now I play dos-box games on it (namely MoM) and if you guys are actually able to replace MoM in that aspect as well, (will work on my laptop) you will be my heroes. (If its perfere
