ah, the only catch is my world of D&D has wildly different governments based on region, rather than just kings or magical sovereigns. My current game has a merchant league acting as the main system of power (at least until the PCs go north to the country of vega. I'm not sure what system of government I'm going to employ there). So this can't be MY world... unless you can create neutral factions that are represented by things like theocracies, merchant legues, an
I dissagree a bit with landisaurars (of course this is a fantasy game so all opinions are, well....just opinions) but for most of human history, even within identifiable nations, the vast majority of people did not travel. There are all sorts of examples of different dialects (or even different languages) as you go from one valley to another. Folks were suspicious of people not from their towns, it was a big event when someone outside the
Ideally the larger dungeons should be more likely to eventually refill with new creatures There's a rough analog to this in the re-spawning anomalies in GC2, and the idea definitely makes sense from a 'dungeon ecology' POV. (One of my favorite tabletop RPG refs was obssessed with designing dungeons where monsters *lived* instead of the more typical What's Behind Door Number One design style.)
I'm with GW swicord

I'm not familar with Fafhrd and the gray Mouser. Does boba yaga's hut play a big role? I'm curious to see how she/it is used. Is it something you recommend?
I'm a bit skeptical of this 'leadership ability'. They described it as a sort of micromanagement reduction. I believe this kind of thing should be default. Players who don't spend xp on certain skill will have to click more ? I don't like where it goes.
It sounds like more of an AoE boost to AI abilities. I'm sure that there will be benifits to those who want to micromanage as well, so that way the skill is always useful.

2: Transformers: I'm so excited. Ravage and soundwave (cuddles his favorite giant robots) I can't figure out their naming strategy though. They don't rename Megatron to Galvatron because they don't want to confuse the general audiances... but they call devestator by his real name even though the tank (who should have been brawl) was given his name in the last movie... so that isn't confusing? WTF? I'm not going to be upset just becaus

I think Civilization has something of an archaic inerface. its the one I was actually thinking about when I said it. though having reread it I was imagining "zoom" may be a bit different than say, frogboy's, in that I was thinking specifically about the kind of access to information, rather than perhaps the way the game is played. Like I find city management in Civilization and age of wonders to be poor. I was thinking with better UI the managem

Don't forget walking castles... "howl's moving castle" style or possibly "Baba Yaga's hut" style (it has chicken legs for those who are not familar with russian folklore and/or played Quest for Glory). (I want floating islands more, but still)

What about things like the 'oracle' letting you take advantage of nearby 'night shades' and stuff like that. I generally assumed a town would be part of a city community (Civiization style) and so you wouldn't se any boost on a per town basis... they just would benifit in general by the nearby city.
Ah In our Elemental, Artifacts act more like MoM dungeons, being 1 time 'goodie bags' that may be guarded by a creature. Dungeons will require more adventuring (and turns) to 'clear', with multiple treasures and encounters and possible boss battles and quest items. I've also pitched a Dungeon idea to Brad which I think he approves of. I'll keep you posted on wether or not it becomes an

I personally have never programmed for anything multithreaded (that didn't do it for me because it was a run time environment) so I'm not sure how hard it is to troubleshoot across multiple machines. I suspect that with security becoming more and more tight by the OS that being able to auto-detect system specifications to gadge multi-threading will become harder to do. I'm sure stardock will be able to create something that is at least laptop friendly.

I believe there are other UI soluctions to micromanagement problems.

For the record, I boycott these kinds of things. I'll do some bizzar expensive foreign satilight internet that can only get me a 1.5 Mb connection before I let somebody charge me for the amount of data being downloaded. (like paying for 1.5 Mb a second is fine, but '90 Mb total a minute' is retarded and misleading) I'm all for having a steeper price on bandwidth based on my MTU, but charging per Gb downloaded is retarded and doesn't make any sense.

I think this is along the same lines of the minor factions and/or neutral factions being a part of stardard gameplay. I am very much in support, and I know there have been some ideas about this kind of thing mentioned before. I like it because it will force diplomacy (in terms of AI) to be more important. If you play a 5 player game, with no AI players filling main slots, you still need to worry about diplomacy because the minor factions could be inv
