seriously, why are we talking about this? I mean, why is the sexual preferences of anybody even being brought up. That's private business. If nobody brought it up, then there wouldn't be a sub-group. Everybody would have their sexual preferences and be happy (or not) about it without having to worry about what others thought.

I did. I bought Galactic Civilizations and Sins of a Solar empire to give them money for it as well, before I discovered that the games were actually fun and well designed games. (like the game's quality wasn't a factor in my purchase decision, it was just to give stardock money. I didn't even look at if they were good games) And I signed a petition back when Ubisoft was apparently considering it (there was another company before stardock as well, I don't remember wh
I like the ideas here. I agree the two types of fame, though I'd rather not call the opposite of fear 'popularity' for a number of reasons. It really should be called something else, like 'respect' or 'positive reputation' or something like that. I mean if you're playing against a bunch of nasty, hating, nightmare AIs... you're not going to be 'popular' with anybody (the enemies are not going to consider him popular, and a sovereign rulling his people without g
I'm hoping for the 'cloth map' mode to work as well, just because I have a bad laptop that I want to play elemental on. We should have a specs idea for the 1st beta right? I mean, since the beta 0 at least isn't going to have any 3D?
especially since Civ 4 can support many more and it isn't enough for a Civ 4 map. I think Civ 4 is most interesting on a small or medium map with max players. (you get more interesting dynamics with the AI civs)
Well the civilization games do something along the lines of your "level 1" examples. Its the level 2 that doesn't really exist. I notice your level 2 seems to have all enforcers, what about systems where the point is that things were not enforced, or enforced very loosly by no single group in particular?
I also believe that golems should be built. If nothing else, they should have an artifact like a 'heartstone' or something that is used to bestow life onto otherwise inanimate scraps of metal and earth. I really do hope we have summon units. Even if 'War bears' are not included (because the bear cavalry would overshadow them anyway. Right luckmann?) I'd want to see a mix of classic units (things like sprites are found in not just MoM, but
...I'll be awesome. Gotta love those Freudian typos
O.o wow, that is a freudian slip. Its supposed to be "It'll" I guess. Though I plan to be pretty awesome myself (I don't have a huge ego, just a positive outlook)
well the problem with stopping the TBS of "the more you win, the more chances you have to win" is by doing something that would be... unfair. A good example would be to have luck be a factor. Or have mechanics that are designed to make the people in the lead be pulled back, or the people in back have a better chance... all these are 'unfair'. So no matter what, there will be a winner, and just like in any game when a player starts winning badly right away, t
Ah... I don't really want eye candies (like birds flying) that have no effect on the gameplay, as long as the game does not look ugly.
well there is more to 'eye' candy than just that. For example, in Metroid 3: Super metroid, the live was very much more alive than it is in any of the other games. You had things like insects clearing out the rooms when you first arrive on the planet, showing just how dead and bare it is.
Now, one thing I've always liked is when two races are occuring. Somebody is runnin' the space race as another player is rushing to try to kill them before they finish it. The only time I feel this guaranteed victory you mention is when you turn off all the other victory methods except conquest (total destruction of enemies) I mean in MoM, I remember ONCE, an AI player started casting master of magic. I nearly peed myself. I was in the above situation.
I want the channeler to have a familar! Like an imp, or a tiny dragon, or a cat! And I want to dress them up in funny hats
in terms of options for events, rather than a toggle on/off switch, I'd want a slider or scale as to represent how common an event was as well as a scale to at what point in the game they most appear. I had more information about this idea in another thread... but I can't find it now. oh well
yeah, sorry Happy Wulf. hopefully you'll still have a fun time on the forum and with the game when it comes out. I'll be awesome.
I'm fairly sure they already expect to have as many options as possible (or at least I hope they do). It will be fun times creating menu UI for all those options that is easy to manage.
I'm a supporter of many dimensions. I feel that the number of dimensions should be able to include sky/ground (HoMM, AoW, Advance Wars: Duel-strike) as well as multiple worlds of existance (MoM, Cave Wars, Ragnorak). Why wouldn't that make sense in Elemental? It makes as much sense as it did in MoM. They wouldn't even have to be parallell dimensions, but rather just other worlds in the same universe that were both touched by the cataclysm. I think the
Too bad you can't move over registrations and all that (so you're running on impulse client rather than steam's. Though steam's really isn't all bad for some games)
really strong randomizor with multiple victory paths! of course games will get dull if you play them enough, but the point is to give the longest amount of time before getting dull.
man, everytime I listen to that demo I'm shockd by Brad's voice. It just seems so different from other times when I heard him talk like on the demigod interview on X-play.
ah, the off-topic sections are not specific to the sins of a solar empire forum. I only even knew it was Sins because you have "tec builder' and "advent' in the same line (and I play Sins) I think in general you'd get better responces from the 'on topic' section (since somethnig pertaining to sins of a solar empire would not be... off topic after all) and I went and looked... it appears the answer to be "neither... thats a capital ship"
I think 'god' is vague with an ever broadening concept, and 'science' is something intent on being as specific and exact as possible. So I'd say there were near opposites in concept. Though "quantum science" might argue against me.
It should be beta 0, because as all good programmers know, you start counting at zero
heh, I don't think having a counting system start with '0' is something that marks a 'good' programmer. maybe a seasoned one, but the whole 'start with 0' is just syntax. There is not an advantage to starting with 0 over a real number. Its just tradition because in theory it better translates into machine code and most programmin
Npot necessarily. A particularly good archer or sowrdsman or mage could pass that skill onto their offspring.
skills usually aren't inherited by themselves. (I know nature vs. nurture and all, but training is training. And a good archer father does not mean that the kid is going to be a good archer) They'd have to train the new generation just as they would anybody else. [quote
See now, I count this game as having 12 races, just like I count red alert 2's expansion: yuri's revenge as having 3 races, even though they were all human. So what if they all look the same, as long as play differently it shouldn't matter what they are. again, I can't be worried about any kind of limit on races, since stardock's made it clear that they want modders and such to be able to make whatever kinds of races and models they want. If
Knights of Honor eh? is that a strategy game. What about it did you think worked so well exactly? (I mean, can you give specific examples as to what the caravans and traders did to make it feel like a living world?) Stardock seems pretty intent on making the world seem alive, so I'm not too worried. I remember seeing in one of the screenshots a bird flying, and it made me think "is this game going to have wild creatures walking about that
