there is no diplomacy with bears.... There is "wave your arms and yell", "curl into ball and pretend to be dead", and "be mauled/die" depending on the type of bear, one of the two 1st options might not exist as are covered by the 3rd option. But no seriously, this seems reasonable. modding it shouldn't be hard at all.

So if you migrate, would you have a caravan of "people supplies" that would then move to the town and could be possibly intercepted?
3. what does this have to do with fixing playstation Home. TOTALLY different development team. Other people are working on playstation home. (whether they are fixing it or not is up to you to decided, but still, no connection) Like, just how small do you thin sony is? Its freaking SONY! Its like saying "Why is Nintendo working on Mario Galaxy when they could be working on Mario Kart" (was being developed at the same time) And even that
I like all the variety, including the idea of a Nobody Wins end-game scenario. Did anybody 'win' the Cataclysm? Probably not, or we'd have a back story about how all the canon factions are laboring in the shadow of the Great (Horrible) Survivor who helped make the Cataclsym and managed to live through it.
yeah, I was under the impression that the cataclysm was a pretty big "fail" on everybody's part. because of that, I thin

I didn't know that SD used much python. Looks like I'll have to whip out my "learn python" book when this comes out. (I'm surprised more people don't use python. I've only heard good things about it)
landisaurus, I just don't understand your description "If there is a player doing something stupid, you'll have to team up with AI to go kill him." How does that relate to unvictory condition?
Ok, lets say there is a limit to the amount of magic can be active in the form of overland spells or the threads of magic will come overburdened and magic will cease to function. If Bob (this will be ou
I like the idea for spells to modify "normal" animals a lot. Perhaps magically alter humans into "giants", etc. Keeping such spells at higher levels of research, and limiting the ability to make obscenely powerful creatures could keep the game balance while still being a lot of fun.
This idea totally makes me crave "Chaos Channel" like spells. (that spell added some strange effect on whatever spell it was cas
I was a big fan of how "Awareness" was universal (everybody got it, that displayed all cities on the map to the player that cast it) but "Nature's awareness " was earth/nature magic only (showed everything in the world) In this I would want something similar... like an awareness (perhaps another name of course, but just showed cities) then an "earth's awareness" that revieled cities, units, and dungeons on ground; "sea's awareness" which would show all the oceans and lakes, the
We should totally get an updated word cloud (bear bear bear (I tried, but it apparently doesn't like my version of Java or the particular RSS feed I gave it)
you got to the Impulse driven forums while trying to post to the demigod forums? It makes sense that Impulse driven would have all the impulse driven forums (that includes demigod) while demigod would only have the demigod forums and off topic sections. To me it does anyway. I can see how it might be confusing though.
Master of Magic had no multiplayer, but it was built like a multiplayer game (only skirmish, no story of any kind really). So I'm not worried in the least because if it has any kind of story mode it has more single-player than the single-player only game, Master of Magic.
Yes, and that is why you do a port and that is why I suggested they hire the i5works team. World of Warcraft relies on DirectX in XP, but for OS X it was ported it to OpenGL, so that is not a problem. The problem might be their Impulse online platform, though... depending on how that is constructed...
Its a shame its so hard to emulate directX on non-windows systems. If you're able to emulate the graphics
how is re:releasing old games that sold well 10 years ago not abandoning the core audiances? If thats the best they can give us? That being said, I'm reserving my opinion of nintendo. They did finaly and recently move the club over to US shores. They brought over starfy as well. Until I know what their many dev teams have been working upon (because seriously, what are they making these days? There arn't even many casual games in the works right now) I can
This is like having a phase out period while switching to Metric... it doesn't work.
yeah, what did you think a game's development cycle looked like? I mean that would only be a couple of years in the works for elemental. not everybody that worked on creating the base game of GC2 would have to be working on twilight. So they would be working on the next project. Blizzard's been working on starcraft 2 since warcraft 3 came out. And when elemental comes out there is likely going to be plans for whatever comes next. otherwise people would
Magic was actually pretty nerfed in MoM depending on what setting you used. It took a lot of research to get an attack spell worth a damn at normal and weak.
Its true. I always played on powerful, in which case magic was a very big factor. I always felt like the AI cheated on weak. Like it took me so long to get any good spells but the AI was just firing them off like nobody's business. I feel like it
see now, I was coming to defend torrenting. I can't really defend pirating, and the original post only addresses pirating games. I mean, I have opinions about torrent pirating of course (like pirating games that can't be purchased I feel is justified, some goes for hard to find music and movies, because in these cases it isn't that the person doesn't want to give the original owner credit, its that they can't) but I feel they are biased and not right to be in a discossion topic li
all his posts were made in the same second. So it couldn't have been intended. But yes, WoW... something broke.
man, I'm still waiting for old world/new world or something like that. Any excuse for a Mom-like world system.
Hippo cav isn't hard to imagine. I think its been done actually (having people ride a hippo, not particularly for war) Wapol from the show One Piece rode a wolly snow hippo. (it was like a normal hippo, except it was wolly and had long legs to walk through high snow. It could also climb mountains, which i didn't understand))

Because it would require some team-work. If there is a player doing something stupid, you'll have
GW swicord, you certainly have your priorities ^_^ I'm under the impression we don't have a dev journal yet because they have not come to a conclusion exactly how it is going to work. Thinking of all the screenshots and stuff, we haven't seen any magic yet. I'm sure we'll know by june though, and that isn't that far off.
small world eh? I'm a big fan of board games and that is one I have yet to play. I have not played any 'new' board games of late. I think the newest one to our table being something like Roborally, though I might be wrong. I was looking at some mayfair games the other day that I have yet to try out. My last game night was taken up my a game of Twilight Imperium, which is an old one.
