Actually expansions are the best way for any PC game to evolve... as it would otherwise be almost impossible to judge game balance, design flaws, community likes&dislikes, AI weaknesses, etc., etc., . An expansion should be approached by developers as something which can allow the game to evolve by providing greater strategy depth and stability while reducing micro_management and pain points. they've already said the best comparison would be like Master of Magic with a bit of Heroes of Might and Magic + X-com (if you don't know what any of those are, then civilization with magic and tactical battles)
additional idea: infect everybody in the world with a magical disease (is spread by combat, spells, and trade) generic idea: Have control of over 70% of the world's magic unvictory condition (like in zombie Flux or Arcum horror, everybody loses): The world's magic becomes unst able again and a new cataclysm occurs. (a certain magic limit or essence level is reached on a global scale) This time, there was no arc > s
this topic is pretty negative and smells like a flame war brewing. Can't we talk about something more positive? (to the above post: that is a slanted explination as to why the canceled warcraft: adventures. There were many other reasons as well, so its an unfair statement to say they canceled it for lack of popularity [in the adventure genre])
they also don't have deticated servers
I am excited about SC2, though I can't join the fanboys in diablo 3. I have a looming feeling that it won't 'feel' the same as the previous versions. Its likely related to how much WoW changed from the warcraft setting. I can't help but feel like Diablo 3 will have this 'mainstream' feel to it. Also, a lot of what they've presented so far does not really look that good. I mean its pretty, but I don't feel the love I normally get from blizzard titles. &nbs
I agree with NT. I would have liked the variation. All human races just seem boring...especially in a fantasy setting. Probably my only complaint thus far. Not a hater though...we can just mod them in.
well, the way I feel about it is I can't say the races are boring until I've actually seen them. Just because some of them would be short or have pointed ears or scales and the ability to swim does not make them more inte

they will hold it from you, but it shouldn't actually be deducted from your account. It has something with the way credit cards are done. When the inquiry to see if the card can be charged, the bank automatically puts the money on reserve expecting for charges to come through (food placed do that all the time, the actual charge usually being higher to include tip) It shouldn't be held from you more than a week or so, and likely you can talk to a bank person to get it un-held
My overall opinion is that every game which has at least one expansion will have greater replay value with multiplayer.
Dangerous words. A game should never need an expansion and thinking about it before finishing the main product is a double-edged sword. One 1 side you are able to prepare ahead of time to make the expansion come easier and flow with the game better. On the other side, it means you achnoledg
I agree with the original post. interestingly enough, that fine pipe tobacco of hobbits is actually what is most often missing from the mentioned stereotypical settings.
demigod sure has had a rough launch. Things appear to be calming down a bit though, right? I blame somebody saying "we're ahead of schedule" because murphy's law came and brought down the stick. Also, hows that opening of a 2nd game studio?
In the late Middle Ages and early Reniassance, people realised that you could fling the bodies of plague victems into a castle during a siege, and the people buttoned up inside would get the plague and die.
Bears. Not fantastic creatures.
what is wrong with fantastic creatures? I suspect that bears should be available at start, as well as wolves, boars, and possibly spider (those seem like the most common). I mean if they are going to have mounts at all, it would be a shame if 'horse', 'warhorse', and 'camel' were the only options.
Yeah, GC2's setup screens got REALLY unweildy as we continued adding setup options, so with the downloadable content and other new features we felt this was best added as its own section of the setup process (and not just shoved into the 'world setup' area).
so how similar is the UI between elemental and GC2's setup screens? You talk about it like it is about the same.
I don't think we should worry about postgame dumps, because some of the opponents are going to be bots on Stardock's servers. So if you can identify when the game was, and against which bots it was played, then they should be keeping track of the dumps on their end. Its a good idea, but I think stardock has an even better way of handling it.
I agree. I remember talking somewhere about the wonder building and how good it makes people feel. I get the same sort of satisfaction of researching a powerful spell in Master of Magic. I really hope this game is able to deliver. (where did launching dead bodies into castles come from this thread? is that supposed to be an upgrade?)
Initially I wouldn't want the main game to be to complex (though I think bears should floor most other 'natural' mounts). I would have to agree with NTjedi's example of having the mount and rider act as one unit. Whether being on a horse does additional because it tramples its target or because it creates added momentum for the rider's lance is being overly too complex. It should just add a bonus to 'attack' of the unit. If this was a more single-person battle system
I'm sure there will be offline game options

I really am excited to see the finished unit editor. But I suspect that we will have the game in our hands before the editor in terms of beta. I wonder at which stage the unit editor will be available. I'd say not beta 0 anyway (why I think the game will come 1st)

hidden victory condition? that seems dangerous. I mean there should be at least 1 non-hidden victory condition at all times.
How did 2K games get into the picture? I remember brad (frogboy) once saying there wasn't "designer" positions at stardock and there probebly would never be. But rather everybody worked on the design together as a team. The talked about it sounded to me like some common programmer annimosity against "The idea guys" (not meaning to stereotype, but I have yet to hear this kind of things from artists. I blame the fact that most young 'designers' d
