OMG, what a transparent play for an alpha spot! [e digicons]8C[/e]
I understand that there was a list of 100+ people for the alpha sitting on zoomba's desk on friday. (or was it thursday) either case, it was before this post. So it couldn't be a play for an alpha spot (at least not a very good one since they are a few days late :P ) but yeah, I'm in the same boat as spartan, I use win 7 64-bit already, so if I get into the alpha it
I've noticed that a lot of people want there to be a lot o randomness in the Campaign. I'm completely opposite! I play campaigns once, and then never come back to them unless maybe I start playing the game again years later. So I don't want it to be random. I want every aspect of the campaign to be masterfully hand-crafted, so that the one time I do play it through it will grab and hold my attention. Randomization is for sandbox mode.
I think the goal is to have the ben

windows 7 seems to have about the same compatibility as windows vista. Not to mention Brad Wardell really likes 7, so I almost expect it will be more compatible with windows 7 than other OS (for example, 64-bit XP might have trouble that 64-bit win 7 avoids)

I expect with the alpha so near there is already at least a very basic quest system in place (since I understood it to be a very important feature) so I'm curious to see how it compares to your vision.
In any case, don't bother trying as it would be considered an abuse, ok? Just strict jpg and png.
Provided its within the size requirement I don't see how. I mean, the format requirement is so people don't cry when they can't upload another format. Also things like BMPs and color-heavy gifs tend to be space heavy. Naturally animation (gif or otherwise) is talking much bigger files than non animated. But like, an animated MoM gif? W
I... uhhh..... don't think that's a tree. I think it's the creature's head.
Its above the head as far as I can tell. The eye is below it. Its much smaller than the other willow in sight, but it could be young, or the other one could be exceptionally close (it would be hard to tell with that image)

I just want to throw out there that the swamp lord pictured above makes me pee my pants with excitement. THAT is exactly the kind of monster I hoped to see in this. I particulary enjoy the twisted mammoth roots used for it's forward limbs, with earthy body covered in moss, grass, and even a willow tree.

good stuff. I like how this was put in the elemental journals with what I assume to be Galactic Civilization variables, classes, and functions. I mean ulShipIndex isn't a variable in Elemental, right? how similar is the elemental and GalCiv2 code? I was always frustrated by not hardcoding strings. I guess I don't like keeping track of several files at once, though I can see how it would be easier to track down problems with strings later.
Personally, I'd love to see 32 player support. No one has to play with that many but I'd like to see the game support it.
If you had play by e-mail, or similar that did not require the PC to be on 24/7, with turns that happen automatically by themselves (say, turn lasts 1 day, or turn lasts 12 hours) I can see 32 humans players in 1 game being very possible. Not to mention games with 2-4 human players and 25+ AI players. &n

I look forward to hi-res MoM as well, though I suspect we'll have to wait longer than just 7 days for that. (or a month, because MoM =/= E:WoM) I hope that Elemental will fill MoM's shoes as much if not more than anybody else, but let us not make the mistake that they are going to be the same pair of feet.
From what I can tell, it seems that both pigeon and NTJedi want the game functionality to have internal consistency that is presented via words and images that can parse easily for 'the average' player while still providing some sense of a deeply imagined world. Most of the ping-pong (here and in other threads) on realism seems to me to boil down to matters of taste, not engineering, science, or even metaphysics.
Thats how I often feel about it. I just hope that we have some option to turn on and off expansion features. I don't remeber it being a problem in Gal Civ 2 (likely because it was not multiplayer, which is always where I seem to find what features annoy me. 'cause there is what the AI does, and what players do and when it doesn't coinside at all) But I know in Civilizations IV I wish I could turn off some warlords features while still keeping others and the Beyond the sword content &nbs

bare in mind, there are problems with infinite research. There comes a point where either A: the research addition is not even worth it anymore, or B: it becomes so broken that there is no point to playing the game any longer. At least this is in my experiance. That being said, I generally like infinate research too

The mention of militia and helms deep makes me want to return to multiple day seiges. Naturally, not everybody can fight, but those that can might take up arms and hole themselves up in a castle. Certainly having a system for that would be bettar than the random "3000 inhabitants were killed" result on the end of battle screen as seen in Master of Magic. (I used to get so angry when I wouldn't set foot in the enemy town as it appeared on the tactical map, but then it would

admittingly september is not that far away now. I mean, compared to the wait so far. I want to note Salaena, if this is like previous Stardock Betas' there will only be certain time frames available to get into the beta. So you'll be in right away, but in theory if you purchased x months into the beta time frame, it might be during one of the 'down times' between major betas and have to wait for the next major round to join.
I'm later to the party. Yarlen made me pre-order today though.
And you have less excuse. Its pretty bad when one of the devs has to make you preorder when you're as involved as you have been.
