I just wanted to show people where I ended up with that face. Since enough people here should know a bad MoM reference when they see one. " Old man, I hear you seek the Spell of Mastery ." I'm still working on the blog, though I've turned to working on somethin

for some reason having a child, that can't pronounce the words she is trying to use, make a decent looking slide show with fairly epic music completely destroys any credit that commercial might have for me. I could suspend disbelief for a resteraunt or something a small child might get excited seeing, but not for a new OS. I love windows 7, and if I wasn't so deticated to buying it this commercial might make me NOT buy it. Its like, if they have a solid product, why
I better make sure I have a light. Elemental Beta might be dark, and I don't want to be eaten by a Grue. so is that going to be an actual screenshot XD
yeah, now's the time to get in any buddies you want to have early beta access. On that note, be aware it won't be fun right away. We likely won't see multiplayer for a while.
Usually the OST is given out with the CE of most stardock games. This game could certainly use an art book. I know I'd buy one. XD
what? Impulse is my new dating site? I thought it was just going to match make my games, not replace the goal of eharmony or match.com.... sad part is, it might actually be the same thing to me.
I'd suspect that the volcano in the final version isn't just a "destroy everything on Tile X" spell anyway. Just because I can imagine far worse fire events than volcanoes, and we wouldn't want to stop the fire spell tree there. The final end game spells may not really have a counter though. By that point in the game its likely thet its 'destroy them before they destroy you" with no real countering mechanic (other than direct spell counters like the spell "counter
I think having an attribute that is basically several attributes rolled into one is fine. Call it a template if you want D&D terms. I doubt we'll see anything like this in the earliest of betas, since it looks like they are still working on getting all the different kinds of armor and weapons in. Haven't even started working on things like "ethereality", "steal life", "cold blooded, or "scaly skin" type features. I know I want to see such tr
It was stated at PAX that multiplayer games will be able to be saved. (its speculated some of the biggest maps may take months to play, so how could they not be savable) It was suggested that the saved game should be held on the Stardock servers (at least for SD hosted ones) so that players can hop back in when ready, without having to deal with some of the hesting a save troubles that other games sometimes experiance.
perfect huh? thats a mighty big word. Sounds a bit biased. But, its enough to make me go look up this game. See if its as "perfect" as claimed. Thanks for the suggestion.
Yeah, and he also mentioned that PBEM was more likely to happen than Hotseat.
I couldn't help but notice that in all 3 presentations I listened to on the subject, (2 elemental demos, one stardock general status) somebody asked about hotseat. So if thats any indication of the demand for hotseat, we'll see what ends up happening. Something mentioned in terms of saving the multiplayer games is that if a game hosted on a server is saved, it wil
1. Yes, the unit designer is in-game. The version at PAX had a "kingdom button" which had the unit designer in it. It was pretty much the same idea as the galactic Civilization unit builder. But as scorpia suggested, if you want to use something that is not part of of the base game, you'll have to likely create it out of game (or download it from stardock's custom content servers, which we've yet to see how works.) 2. scorpiana cov
I'm a bit shocked and alarmed I'm not seeing more "Heroes of Might and Magic" or "X-Com" on any of these lists. Also, wasn't Dominions released in 1998? a year later and it could have been on the PS2. I feel its far to new to be worthy of the title "supremely classic", at least in the same way the other two hold it. (MoM = 1993, Sword of Aragon = 1989)
In a few situations, I have been able to get away with using ".obj" files. These seem to be handled by a number of game engines, and are fairly easy to export from less than super expensive software. I've seen people follow some funny export chains to get from one file format to another (such as creating the model in a program, importing to Unreal editor, then exporting to their desired format.
it does look good. ready to texture it?
Righ now that'd be perminent, but we may allow for tile-designs to support environment-specific objects....would be cool (and I beleive straight-forward in code).
I couldn't imagine its any harder than setting up build phases (I wondered how you planned to match construction tiles with the buildings that would become them.
or it could be something else entirely? looks more skeletal to me, but its hard to tell. Anyway, I know I'd love to see many exotic mounts. But as of yet, I haven't even really seen normal horses (I tried researching animal husbandry at PAX and nothing about it was implemented yet)
There should be wandering heroes. I mean you can recruit them into your army that way anyhow (and breed them with your children?) I assume a few heroes will have minor magical abilities. Surely nothing to the power of the channeler, but its not unreasonable that somebody other than the channeler survived the cataclysm and learned how to use magic.
I saw some pretty sexy rockformations which were more like Volcanic necks and ignious extrusions (where a vent or layer of ignious rock is surrounded by sedimentry or other easily eroded rock, which is removed leaving a creey looking spiky rock formation sticking out of the ground) Some of which I think was put on the top of a mountain. So I suspect that when mountains become decorated enough in this game not to just be raised highmap piece, it will look really awesome.
I have to now change my answer to the building tiles.... Because I was doing it at PAX. XD
hopefully the actual trailer is floating around somewhere. The one that starts with what looks like the Stardock logo being painted. It was pretty fun to watch.
The Volcano, Landis! You didn't mention the volcano! Or did you not want to torture them that badly?
uh... because... time? seriously, it isn't what stuck out to me. I mean its cool, and I loved doing it. I think I ensured every person who was looking over my shoulder while I was playing the game saw it. But it isn't the thing that exites me the most. The spell still feels unfinished since its just
gamestop isn't taking pre-orders yet. Doing it through impulse should* be the only way to pre-order at this point.
Yeah, I'm still mentally in August...that month friggin' flew by! You'll be getting the beta as soon as we get some post-PAX relaxation in.
do you just mean passing out for 2 weeks from all the standing and talking you encountered at PAX? or just some slower days at the office in contrast to pulling out your ... uh.... hair?
