I’m going to write more about this shortly but having had my iPad for about 3 weeks I have to say that the iPad and other devices like it are going to murder large sections of the Windows based market. And as a Windows software developer, that doesn’t make me happy. If you are producing “stuff” the Windows-centric world is still central. But for everyone else who are consumers of content, these new devices are a huge threa
How is it any different to Elemental requiring Impulse to be installed and active to play? Impulse/Steam install an invasive client. Impulse/Steam is required to authenticate those two games. Impulse/Steam have "exclusives" with those games. Impulse/Steam are used as the DRM system. Impulse/Steam force you to join their communities with all the good/bad that comes with that. Impulse/Steam MUST be running in
This is a pretty radical suggestion so I won't be surprised if everyone shoots it down (and then begins stomping on it). What if a level 1 city occupied one large tile (2 x 2) and all construction happened within the city, in a city layout window. In order to reach level 2, the player would be prompted to build an "expansion" on the actual map to expand the original city. If there was no room the city would not be able to gain
I have to say, the stability (and performance) is much much better. There are only two real issues that I see: Walking around coastlines is still fairly bugged. Huts are still failing to upgrade properly.
Impulse doesn't need to be open to be able to play the games you bought off them. (limitted to 10 each click..and if you open a game on page 40, well you're back at page 1 and got to scroll aaaallll the way to page 41)
I'm not sure what that means. My library has almost 20 games listed without issue.
Steam is great. You people and ill-informed or just crazy. Once you validate an installation of a game you no longer have to be online. Almost none of the games on Steam have any other sort of DRM (there are some exceptions. Luckily the Steam store clearly displays any additional DRM a game may have). Hell you don't even need a CD or DVD to install the game, you can just download any Steam games right off of Valve's server. All game CD Keys, Manuals and other information are s

Reduced 98%Original 312 x 448
It looked like a CRT to me as well. Maybe you should get some masking tape and paint the border black.
It'll be more akin to Master of Magic's battles but not tile based (since units have different combat speeds, tiles become impractical) and with nicer graphics.
You could do something like Heroes of Might and Magic where larger units take up multiple tiles.
On an unrelated note (although some-what similar to having no hotseat) ... I find it very odd that a game with Online Campaign COOP will NOT allow for split-screen COOP. Its ... quite frustrating for one, such as I, that rarely likes to combine gaming consoles and the internet.
I can't even imagine why you would want/need such a feature. If split-screen was to allow two people to play on the same computer, how
I love adobe apps but they honestly need to take a year off from adding new features and focus purely on improving performance and making their apps as lean as possible.
My point exactly, except that 1 file will obviously not be enough. 1 brain, sure. 1 file? Not so much.
A file and a "brain" are two completely different concepts. If you want to compare a file to something, you can think of a file as our long-term memory. The size of a file is only limited by the size of a hard drive; the information contained within a file can detail a number of different topics and be organized i

Take a decent Chess AI and give it unlimited time to make moves, and your a decent opponent, and you now have to shave between moves. I think that even DEEP BLUE was given a time restriction. If an AI was to really "learn". Where would it store and or retrieve all that learned knowledge? Lucky us, we carry our around in a melon atop our shoulders. [/quo

The point is that posts like this have a tendency to crash stuff and are hard to read, Since it's only the dxdiag and you've linked to the others, should be ok. Can you give some indication of what you were doing when the crashes occured?
I wasn't doing anything special. My units were within my one and only city. The crashes would happen after hitting the end turn button while wa

The current research system works something like this: Invest N turns into researching a general topic (Civilization, Warfare, Magic, Adventure, Diplomacy) Once you devoted roughly L * 3 turns (where L is the current level of the topic), you get to choose a break through. The breakthroughs that are available are based on some form of probability Once you've chosen the breakthrough that you want, you can select the next topic to research. &nbs
Constructing a temple actually reduced my city's prestige from 1 to 0 instead of increasing it.
Issue #1 I built a number of houses in my level 1 city, 4 to be exact. Before I reached city level 2, I researched housing. Upon my city entering Level 2, none of my houses were upgraded. Issue #2 While using the same city from Issue #1, I researched Est

I constructed my city between two mountains. Everything was going fine until I constructed a mine. As soon as I placed the construction the city walls began being displayed incorrectly. See link for screen shot: http://www.sendspace.com/file/oaxyoh
If you demolish a farm that has been constructed on top of wheat, the wheat bonus tile will also be removed.
After clicking on a button, it will display its neutral texture instead of displaying the proper on-hover texture if the mouse remains on the button after clicking.
Mountains on the map disappear upon loading a saved game. The player has to re-explore them for them to become visible again.
