Didn't really read all pages here, but i'm really dissappointed with Civ V because of: - the UI, it feels very console-ish - alot less micromanagement is required - happiness is now global - no more cool & stimulating wonder movies (all you see now is just a picture) - no religion - no spionage - you don't have to connect the ressources anymore to your cities - all units can now water, exp

But until thats done its just words. And like another poster said we are 9 patches in with another probably at least that many to go before the games truelly good. At least I have civ 5 to tide me over till then. I learned my lesson about preordering though. I don't usually preorder period. Joke was on

Besides concepts like corruption, and sickness and such are usually excessively micromanagement intensive. It looks like Civ 5 is not exempt from memory leaks. I'm playing on a Huge Earth-type map, and after maybe 2-3 hours it starts getting bogged down pretty majorly. Stuff starts taking longer, the talking heads make the PC start to choke.. then I restart the game, and e

Civ 5 is alot of fun for me so far. Only reason I am not playing right now is I just got home from grocery shopping and was poking my head in here to see if they had announced anything new. Since I still have hopes that elemental will be great eventually. Anyways off to finish conquering my game I left unfinished at 4am last night lol. I love Babylon this civ is so awesome! (only one I played as so far, but still on first game).

Heres how I view it. I own both. I will enjoy years of Civ 5, and hopefully after the 2 free expansions to Elemental I get with my purchase (as we all will thanks to the botched release) it will be enjoyable as well. If its not enjoyable by the 2nd free expansion...then I guess I will have learned my lesson about preordering. Normally I wait till reviews before I buy. I waited on Reviews for Sins of a Solar Empire, then felt silly for waiting. Oh well, life goes on. Off to bed so I can enjoy

I enjoyed the hell outta my day of playing civ 5. The pacing is feels alot slower then with Civ 4. But that could be my mind playing tricks on me. Spend most the day on a small 6 civ 12 city state earth map as Babylon on prince to get a feel for the game. I technically have the game won now. Need to take out the Iroquois capital and that will be domination. Just getting tired will finish it in morning. Hopefully as I get more familiar game will go faster. 10 hours and not done with my first g
Well the IGN review is out. They gave it a 9.0 which is lower than Civ 4 (9.4). This part makes me happy I'm not buying it: "I say Civilization V is only "good" -- and not "great," as I would have said about Civilization IV -- at crafting stories because I feel like the game's taken away some pretty important tools for customizing your society." This is the main reason why I will not buy
If a Steamworks game is updated, you cannot choose to play the old version. You must update the game.
Not 100% true. If your game is set up on offline mode it won't update until the next time you go to online mod. A small difference, yet it is there.
Anyway, so i take it Civ5 will only be released on Steam?? That is rather odd? Surly they know games need on the shelf advertising in stores? The game saves the XML of whatever version you were playing in the Save games. So if you are playing a save game from BEFORE the hotfix on saturday then it wont' be fixed till you start a new game.

Seems to me the medium map seeds are messed up. Large maps still get a gold mine somewhere near my start. On the medium size maps sometimes not getting a gold mine where now there is always supposed to be one somewhere near your start.

Pretty sure its just a bug at the moment. Other threads had froggie in them mentioning that the coders were working to fix the Bow problem and the no abilities problem. So I assume this is the no ability one mentioned at work.

Well look at it this way. This may also make the Dynasty system stronger, as I assume your children will still be born as magic. As such perhaps when they grow up they will add to the global mana pools regen? Obviously they shouldn't cost mana regen since they are a natural occurance. Unlike Imbued champions which are just your sovereign exerting his will essentially.

You can't explain away the fact that the game I played this morning I popped the food one and had one bee show up in my border AND one show up just north of me. Perhaps its not working properly though. I have had multiple gold mines show up from this tech as well...though I didn't know about the 0 option. If it can only pop mines in your AoI and you research that tech while you have a dozen cities, you can spring up a bunch of gold mines. If you research it while you only have 1 city, you won't get nearly the return, and you kinda "have" to research the tech if you want to access anything past it. Sooo.... Spawning nodes outside

Get better? I personally have had no problems with the new pacing. If there is an AI even remotely close to me they get wiped out in the first 30 turns. Procipenee's learning of magic spells from turn one guarantees this. Combine it with infusing Jaskar (or whatever his name is, hes of no importance other then as a donor) and marrying him to begin mutant production. By turn 97 of my last game on a medium map with all 9 ai's I quit because my power rating was already over 170 with the nearest
