CA had better have learnt some serious lessons from ETW & NTW or it'll bomb.
Anomander
Noooooooooooooooo lets leave the clutter out! I want great forest expanses, plains and mountains. Not a Fantasy theme park!
I would guess you are right Anomander that the tactical element and visuals has not been top priority so far. From what I read in the forums development did not start in that end. Many games have great tactical combats but boring strategic gameplay. I'm very glad that Elemental seems to not fall into that trap. A game like this should be fun even with tactical battles turned off, otherwise make a purely tactical game i
Don't worry, the unit groups are not synchronized so that they all move together. There is actually quite a bit of variety between the animations in a group of units. Unfortunately, you can't see that in this particular screenshot. In Brad's video above, you can see how the units look in the game, although I don't think he shows a group of units.
Thanks for the reply Codecritter...
Now I'm worried. I personally think the units look awful... The terrain is quite appealing, but the units with their uniformity, identical posing and posturing look dreadful. Instead of creating a sense of atmosphere and wonder it gives me the impression of a set of childs plastic figurines. I implore the devs to add random posing and unit formations.... perhaps (if opposing an enemy) animation of taunts, threats, shouts and shield & sword beating!
So can a Kingdom never grow to be an Empire?
In War Their soldiers don’t gain experience. Such a concept of thinking about individual soldiers is anathema to the Empire. As such, there is no such thing as a veteran Imperial soldier. However, they can train up special, powerful units (Guardians, Enforcers, and Sions). These powerful individuals will routinely demonstrate the inherent flaw in trying to train groups of soldiers to be more effective. Greatness is born. Not learned.
Voting Tories... the only real option! Tough on immigration, tough on the EU!
I am well and truly annoyed with Adobe over this. I'm a graphic designer by trade and when I upgraded 2 months ago I asked about CS5, as I heard it was coming soon (April in fact). I was told they had heard nothing about that so I purchased CS4. Low and behold CS5 is out 2 months later. And me £845 out of pocket and with a out of date suite. [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e] Grrrrrrrrr
This would aid the modding community no end, and even allow us casual players to expand the game further. In principle I like the idea of custom races.
Fully customisable races gets my vote!
Hear hear, AC is a classic... the benchmark for all games of this ilk.
Hmmm got my first CTD with this build, also elements on the map just out of the Fov appear blurred. Numerous other problems, will submit error when I have the time. It seems to me this, for me anyway, has created more problems than solved. *Just a quick question. When creating a sovereign, are there still missing skin icons on the appearance tab? **Also am I being stupid, where are the create roads (have I missed something?)
I love the quest cave on the island, talk about a challenge!
There is a considerable camp for doing a 4-bit (16 color) style intro with SID chip (C-64) style music. There's also a camp for doing a proper impressive intro as well.
Offer both, though personally speaking the C64 version is really for the 'ubernerds' amongst us. I'd rather see a slick, polished and epic intro that does the game justice.
Noticed this when custom creating my sovereign. dxdiag http://pastebin.com/ZPSSJmLg

No. I can't care less about multiplayer, probably will never play MP with Elemental. I wonder how many % of testers feel the same.
I'm buying for MP specifically! With the best intention in the world, there isn't a AI out there that comes close to a human opponent.
No I still get crashes, and the AutoSave function causes most of them.
Please please take your time... this game is far from fun, or challenging........it needs ALOT more TLC!
I see the odd peasant or soldier defending a city 'hamlet'. I generally kill the sovereigns off very quickly... I crash the odd time (though removing Auto-save helps stability) and then start again. They were not joking when they said the beta's not fun, its dull too. I personally think from what I've seen, a working 'challenging' game is on for early autumn (and I hope no sooner).
NO. Beta 1Z is not adequate.
I agree
