So I'm looking for a good excuse to give my wife, why I should buy this particular expansion to the game. If I can get a good excuse, then I will enjoy all the beta like all you folks who already have the game. If frogboy can give me a good reason to get the game (or anyone at stardock), then I definitely will and I will let you know which excuse worked... (I reserve the right not to use an excuse for obvious reasons).

You do know about 'ctrl + n' yes? That allows you to restart the map without going through the menu stuff again.
I shouldn't have to mod the game to make it fun and playable.
True, but the developers listened to the group where city placement needs to be a very important choice and so they removed snaking. All I did was add it back because I like the ability, makes things more dynamic in my opinion. This mod is a very easy mod to implement and doesn't change any game files, just adds a file, in your documents folder.
The notion that people need 'a rabbit pulled out of a hat' in order to succeed is somewhat insulting in a way. I'll concede that our educational system has miserably failed many students over the last 30 years. The more centralized control of education has become, the larger the Federal education bureaucracy has become, the less our children seem to learn, at least in the areas that might help them succeed as adults. Every tile is influenced by its surrounding tiles. Each add bonuses to grain and materials (and essence sometimes), when you get enough bonus together (a total adding to I 6 or more) you should get a settable location. This is how the game decides how things work. For essence you do need a shard, crystal crag, monument location. If they add an essence the chances are that you have reached the magic number 6 and has already shown on the map. But if such a place is living inside a swamp

But you will not be able to build on top of that improvement. You can improve over the spot, but you need to tell what it will morph to, not sure if you can put multiple tags here, but let me know if you are successful. Otherwise, you might develop a resource that you get a certain amount when you settle a city and it costs you 1 of these resources to build an improvement. But I'm not sure if the AI can handle what you are about to do here.

I believe you can accomplish this deed... first you would have to make the lots buildable. Then you would set the terrain to build this lots to the appropriate lots to build buildings. That is land, forest, hills, etc. Then you would have to set every other improvements preferred terrain to not be allowed to be built on anything except city. Not sure why you would want to do this, but that would be the way to go about it.
My 2 cents (to recap) is this: 1. Getting the AI to summon things effectively is a lot of work. 2. The current balance doesn't make summoning that effective a strategy. Therefore, I'd like to see summoning boosted substantially. In tactical battle, I think you should be able to summon multiples. You could have each additional summon cost more mana than the last. I think that alon

It's hard to determine if they overvalue their technology or if they are undervaluing your technology. I believe that the mechanic is not in place as it should be for technology trading. I haven't played enough to determine if prices are really good if you are allied with the other characters. It's hard to do trades with an empire that you may go to war with, especially if everyone is seeking profit.

Really they should use a different formula for how the heroes divide the exp. To allow a 2 hero base, but instead of dividing the exp in half, say by 3 / 4 instead. 3 heroes have 1 / 2, I went over a variety of options that would give higher exp, but still divides the exp. Another such option would be to try out (number of heroes + 1) / (2^(number of heroes). Although this will get much smaller for stacks of 5 or more heroes. There are simply plenty of

Yes... the easiest way to mod them out is to remove the xml that has all the random events... the corerandomevents.xml I don't quite recommend that, you can instead go through the .xml and comment out that you don't like, that way you still get some random events, but not any of the ones you find particularly annoying.
Why should opponents demand 1/3 more for the same technology?
An explanation here is that the trading is not the same technology but the same category of technology. The more you have in this place the more valued your technology. Trade Military knowledge between two people. If one has a lot of military knowledge already, they know pitfalls and otherthings already. The purchase of what your knowledge is won't be realized until you see it in full. But if you already

Unless you are redefining the art-definition you only need to tell the game what art definition to use for this particular model. The only other things you would need to include is the changes to the file you are creating. For example your above mount, doesn't need anything except the supported unit types. To have compatibility to the female henchmen mod you need to include HenchmanFemale But in my mod I

Your welcome. If you are going to make a series of items you can have a seperate improvement file and include all the unlocks in one file. Also, this is the way to attach it to specific buildings say the city needs a forge before you can buy it at the store... or a stables of some kind. This is how you would accomplish this.

16 Replies 19,262 Views

This is a common mistake with the art definitions. Remove the model data here and you should be fine. It doesn't overwrite the original art-def and that is what you are seeing with this copy as well.
