Hm....Q3 2010 is still the planned release date? I am just wondering, because the beta phase is still in the early stages...not to mention that I am still having random crashes all the time, so even the latest beta build is unstable.
Building systems is a lot harder then populating them. There's five beta phases scheduled, but if you look at later betas, most of the basic gameplay is being done in beta 1. Stuff will get tweaked
Well, you can have a female channeler at least anyway. I hope they did toss that idea. Maybe it fits with history better, but since this is a fantasy world it doesn't have to, and its just not something I think is a "fun" concept for a part of the player base.
The reason why enemies can't use your roads in Civ 4 isn't for realism reasons (because it obviously makes no sense); it's for gameplay reasons. A game where you can build a fast force and then use the enemies roads to rush directly at towns on the far side of his empire (where the defenses are weaker) would be frustrating. Since the enemies can't use the raods, what you get is they have to either go around say by sea, or go past the border towns where presumably a stronger garrison will be a
I mean, if you buy it/attach it whatever to Impulse you use reactorthingy-ma-bob and if you buy it from steam then you use Steamworks. I don't know how realistic that is for a publisher to a) want to do or 2) actualy are capable of doing it. Clearly the 'MW2 situation' is not useful.
Technically? Yes. Realistically? No. This would be doable if Steamworks/Reactor were effectively drivers, a
Yes, they are. It's mostly the fault of the consoles. You can't have a tight, detailed shooter when your control scheme is as accurate as a drunken camel. There's only a certain number of things you can do well with a gamepad, and mindlessly blowing up everything in sight is one of them.

That's like checking which artists made the most money to determine who the best musicians of the decade were.
Probably because there were "casual" games that transformed the industry this decade, which Random Shooter #85482717212 didn't do. Is the "best" game one that does the same thing for the same small hardcore crowd, or one that draws in millions o
Yes you're right. Before optimizing you have to measure and figure out what to optimize. My point about giving a size is when knowing how many items will be inserted (forgot to specify it, my bad), like after getting back some data from a database. So at that time you may initialize the dictionary with the size of the query result, before inserting items. It's simple, efficient and does not take 1 month to measure it or t
It puzzles me a bit how games seem to demand increasingly more powerful graphics cards that cost oodles of money, but no one jumps on the 64bit wagon and shows us what they can do with 6-8GB of RAM. Can't we just leave 32 bit to die in a ditch already, please?
Graphics are shiny, and shiny looks good on a box (and it's the first thing your average game review talks about). Going to 64 bit requires having content to make use of
You'll get in to beta 2 as they mentioned if you've pre-ordered the game. You can do that now and get in when b2 comes out, or you can wait for b2 to be released (there will be a window to order and get in, then it'll close again). Remember, the betas are not fun! Beta 1 has largely been the skeleton of a game, rather then a game in itself. Beta 2 will likely have lots of MP disconnects and similar problems. If you want to test and develop the game, then by all means join us. :) But i
This is a good point. It would be nice, with all the expected modding, to have the server automatically detect needed mods/files/etc. for a hosted game and download them (after a prompt, for security reasons) when required. It would save a lot of time/effort for players, and remove the delays that can make MP modded games frustrating (as experience with this has shown in games without this feature, causing them to not be playe

I hate spending money on a game that is total shit. and end up giving that development company more money to create more shit games. its and endless cycle if people dont do something about it. If your goal is a 15 minute match, then this is not the game for you. This is a game for people who want more depth then that. It's possible they will add a fast game type later, but no such thing exists right now. Hopefully Starcraft 2 comes out this year to meet our shorter game needs. :)
Work harder Brad, the last beta release had some fun in it!
So is there anybody, anywhere, that has actually read this interview? Seems like a waste of time to do one and then gate it away from your entire customer base.
I guess the one that stands out to me is fertility. That seems like a better faction trait, unless your sovereign is quite... *ahem* busy.
How does "wind" damage something when its on a sword? Lightning is fine.
At least, the Dev Journal one doesn't. You can see the stories, but the links to them all give 404.
I don't see a demo. Any word on that?
Interesting, thanks. :)
Putting it on a console would be fine if like Brad said: mouse support. It's the controls that really make it in this case. I'd have no objection to playing on my couch with the TV if I could use a mouse. A gamepad? No chance in hell. Several genres are like that, I wish Microsoft (or Sony) would do something that way.
