The better question is probably if they bother with a campaign at all in FE. On another note, did that Walmart and book DLC ever come out?

There's an Elemental directory in My Documents, IIRC under My Games. There's also the stuff in c:\program files (or c:\program files (x86) in a 64 bit windows), and again IIRC some stuff in a hidden directory called c:\ProgramData that Impulse uses. I don't have WoM installed right now though, so someone who does should check on that. :)

Except that it doesn't mean anything, since the sovereign is immortal. You never really have a royal family per se in WoM; you've just got a way to farm up champions. The system really adds nothing to the game.

Wait. Depending on how cheap Trinity went on sale for that might be worth it though (Sins is a much better game), though I think the discount on Rebellion if you own it is over now so that might factor in too if you want to get Rebellion later.

Hell, I want blocking terrain and line of sight. Before we worry about flanking and ZoC, let's get walls working. :P

A tagging system doesn't work well with this kind of spell system unless you get so specific that it's just confusing. The difficulty is that as soon as you have more then one counter... what are you countering? Does it counter the damage? Leaves the damage but counters a debuff part of the spell? Counters as in negates the spell before its cast? Once the spells get complicated it's hard to do right. The upside is that you can add new spells and they'll more or less just work.

When you uninstalled it last, did you make sure to also wipe out all the directories for it? That's really all I can think of that would cause this.

They don't do anything. Dynasties in WoM don't matter in the slightest to how the game plays. Fundamentally all it really does is provide a way to farm a good champion up. You could axe it and it wouldn't really change the game. The "dedicated team" is busy improving more important things (like cities, tactical combat, and magic). When you have limited resources you need to devote them to where they'll do the most good, and figuring out how to make dynasties into a cor

Dynasties were cool on paper. As implemented in the game? Not so much. The axe fell on stuff like that which simply can't be made to really matter so more effort can be devoted to the core mechanics.

No, wait for FE. That's getting significantly more attention and can do stuff like totally overhaul the production system (which needed it).

I drooled over the teasers, got excited about the descriptions and FAQ, hoped it was the game I always wanted to play... but I waited for a few reviews and some user feedback. I'm glad I did. But based on this new release, I think it's time to buy!
At this point it makes a lot more sense to wait for the e
So I take it that the big issues, that have prevented WoM from superceding MoM, remain unchanged? That would be race variety (instead of humans, humans, and more humans), and seriously varied magic.
There was no chance of that stuff ever being changed once the entire dev team as moved to Fallen Enchantress. I'm not sure race variety is going to change, ever. They were pretty content with all humans, all the time before

This is a pretty pointless discussion, TBH. "Finished" or not, WoM is about to be done. Almost all the resources are on FE. Aside from tinkering a bit, WoM is not changing from what it is. It's not a very good game. It's never going to be a very good game. There's just too much stuff that needs changing for one person working on it to be able to change that. If it really could be done, FE wouldn't need the entire development team working on it for months. At the end of
I think the point was that we all knew what Brad was talking about anyways. If we're walking down the street and I say, "Hey look at that guy's briefcase! It's pretty snazzy!" then you respond with, "That's not a briefcase, that's a valise. But yeah, pretty snazzy!" In that situation we both knew which object I was talking about. The difference matters, but so does context. In this (brief)case, Brad was

Probably because then you have to support something almost nobody will see. Options are not magic. Both options have to be tested and supported, except that the default is what the vast majority will see because UI studies have shown that 90% of users don't change default settings.
Yes and the mechanics are whatever they decide to call them. They are designing it. That was my point. Who gives damn if they call it Fog or Unexplored or the void or whatever? I do agree that there should be a difference between explored areas that we can't see and unexplored areas. I just don't really care what they call it as long as it is somewhat intuitive and supports gameplay.
No, the mechanics in

Bad press will be greeted with "oh god, not again" and people running for the hills.

Are we talking about the "edge" of the unexplored area here? In this version it's not just a sharp wall, it bleeds over into the tile and has a more gradual look, and it does look better. But that's all I saw. And Campaigner's right. That's an unexplored area, not the fog of war. FoW is when you can't see already explored territory because you have no current line of sight to it.

Try some of the stickied threads over here . Though they keep changing stuff wildly in patches so they're probably out of date now anyway. Personally I'm just waiting for Fallen Enchantress (the expansion). War of Magic just isn't worth playing.
