Lolz. Apparently you don't know anything about Stardock...
Except that it's GPG who actually creates new content for Demigod, not Stardock. There's some people (myself included) wondering what GPG is actually doing given the absolute silence from them since the networking stuff was fixed.

Python is neat. [e digicons][/e] Another issue with C++ modding is that for people who don't know it yet, it is a very hostile language. You're going to accidentally create a lot less buffer overruns and memory leaks in almost anything else.
That's fine, just so long as it's not innovation for innovation's sake. Half the new ideas I see being tossed around here worry me. They will end up bloating the game and increasing the amount of micromanagement required without adding any strategic value.
Well, yeah. When everyone is throwing out all their ideas, you're going to get some pretty out there stuff. Nothing wrong with that. :) What bugs me is t
Well, if they didn't just straight up copy DotA, how would the DotA veterans insult everyone else for not having been playing the game for 5 years already? I kind of wonder if the devs actually want the godawful community there, or if they're just stuck with it and don't know how to fix it.
Well, that's not what this is. :P Someone is making a mod to do that, IIRC.

I think it would be better if they are unable to gain essense by leveling up, so that it really does matter when you give them your essense as oppo

Yep, this seems pretty standard. Though if you make a custom game, presumably you could use a custom race like in Galciv and then just mix it up however you like.
Good FAQ, thanks!

No bots checkbox = problem solved. We are so off topic.
Yep, he was talking about how much Demigod players hated it. The forum reception here was more positive.
Starcraft Battlechest is back? Wow! Keep in mind that NPD doesn't measure digital sales. Demigod could be selilng well on Impulse and it would never show up here, whereas EA and Blizzard do most of their sales in retail. Not that anybody can really match the twin juggernauts of WoW and The Sims, but still. NPD numbers are notoriously unreliable when it comes to PC games.
You should probably be glad that there's no negative karma option. :P
The problem with "tough choices" is that they're usually not very tough. One tech will be better then the other inevitably, and people will choose that one. That's the problem with blocking things. If I can only have one or the other, I'll ALWAYS take the one that is better in a majority of cases. You just wind up with tech that never gets reserached at all because doing so locks you out of some other, better tech.
That is a good question. I've seen other games that would do the first couple chapters as a tutorial and then you're on your own. I would think it would be easy enough to have a setting to turn off "hints" or "tutorial mode" in a campaign. I just know that a lot of Stardock games get dinged sometimes for not having a tutorial and this might be a good opportunity to break that trend.
Yeah, it's tru
At the same time, they can also look at it for an example of what *NOT* to do with DRM!
Actually, my point is that after maybe the second trimester you would essentially be useless in combat (depends on the woman's condition and the size of the baby, but that's generally the way it works). Remember, she wouldn't be fighting forum nerds here: she'd be set against an opponent or opponents just as strong as she normally is, and just as mobile, except that she'd be much slower and have lower energy levels. Granted, in a few odd cas

You'll also start to see people complaining about how they need a button to move their scientists to another city since they know the city is going to fall 3 turns before it does, but can't get any millitary reinforcements there in time.
Its amazing what crazy directions these conversations wind up going.
Tried it with a friend's fileplanet key. It's interesting. Gameplay isn't all that different from WoW. Obviously looks nicer. "Free" MMOs have some resistence in the higher end North American market, since the main way they make money off them is through microtransactions, and those turn off a lot of players.
This will only be useful if there are bonuses for researching several things at once. In Dominions you can split research as you like but it's mostly less efficient than focusing on one path then the next. In MOO (1), splitting research could be beneficial as it gave you a slightly better research rate, but getting tech1 on turn 10 and tech 2 on turn 20 remained better than getting both techs on turn 19 in 99% of the cases.
