In my most recent plays I have been using Normal Pace. The early techs take much too long. 24 turns to get a spear? That is too damn long. I think a good way to satisfy the early game is to decrease the tech cost for tier 1 and 2 by 50%. That would mean we still have choices to make in the first 100 turns, but it isn't a choice between a spear in 6 years or a mine in 12. We are spending far too much time waiting around for new technology when we should be in a war against the wilds for ne

Now that we are moving into beta 4 it would seem the appropriate time to start expecting some love for the Path system. My gut tells me that they are going to start on fixing city sprawl and then look at balancing the heroes with much needed content. The Path system in general is a great idea, but it needs refining as the OP and others all agree. We need each path to branch off into new paths. A Healer or Priest path would seem to be the biggest omission. We also need alot more summons. If th
I made some great maps for WoM that should port over just fine. I think they just need more single tile hills to add some flavor to the large planes areas. My latest map is quite good, but then Mountainous has always had the best maps.
Been crashing every time it loads the next turn. The save is a few turns away. You can repeat the bug by doing exactly what I do in the video. I wonder if it has something to do with the diplomacy pop-up from Yithril. Also a nice little tactical battle for your gaming pleasure. Zip: http://www.mediafire.com/?ya391k4cyfazr9a Err: ht

RE: OP Title Question Tarth
In any other 4X game I would say pioneer spam is the point of the game. Expansion at all costs. But Act I of FE is supposed to prevent expansion until the war against the world is won. The game has shifted towards monsters being designed to allow outposts and cities to exist near them. I think that is a bad design choice. I would hazard a guess that this was done to bypass some problems with monster AI. I implore the devs to take another look at the AI and see if you can get it to play at a l
Having recently had a chance to play the latest version, I thought a few videos were in order. The game is finally to the point where I no longer feel the need to mod anything to feel enough enjoyment to continue playing. Must have wasted the whole day forging my Kingdom. Video 1 Video 2
I play on fast pace to get the game going. Otherwise the pacing is far too slow. I would cut the tier one and two techs costs in half so that normal pace is more tenable.
This was the last patch for a month... Then we get beta 4.
How can Australians be the happiest with the most dangerous creatures on Earth plaguing their tiny desert island? I wouldn't go near that spider infested rock.
Maybe give them a special fast horse to put them over the top? They are not OP enough yet. People are still using lower case letters to describe their OPness. I WANT MOAR!!!!!!
Of course there are legal ramifications, but that is just because laws are a few decades behind technology. There are always ways around liabilities. Personally I think there should be some sort of document you can sign that relinquishes all possibility of suing. Some sort of super document that has to be signed in blood. Maybe with a small sacrifice or the groping of the inner thigh.
It would be interesting to see if mods could be monetized in an FTP model. User created content that can be packaged and sold would be a great way to keep great games alive.

Word on the street is that the release will be later today. But I literally just asked a homeless guy walking by, so don't get too excited.
The problem with suggesting things from Diablo is that the devs can't really see something they like in that game and add it to this one. All the devs have certainly played Diablo, but it is a totally different engine and a totally different game. The loot in this game for instance takes up alot of memory. Each item therefore must be carefully thought out. A loot list as big as even the one in the first Diablo is unreasonable to expect in this game. That sort of game only has a quest and
There is a difference between being mean and being rude. It might be rude to tell you to grow some thicker skin, but the point I am making is that the internet is chalk full of trolls and putrid vitriol. Internet etiquette is quite base if we are being honest. The fact is I see alot of people complaining about stuff that just plain unreasonable to ask of a beta. If I seem rude it is because I feel the need to get the point across about what is useful and what is silly when giving feedback on
The biggest difference in the two games is the combat system. FE is far superior. WoM also does not have traits when leveling. It could be the language barrier that I am having trouble with, but I don't think Humility is making any decent points about how FE is in any way inferior to WoM. I am not sure what "full army like square tech" means for instance. Not being critical, I just don't understand what you mean. There are some balancing problems, but much of the
This is by far the most civilized forum. If you can't handle what is said here, you might want to stop using the internet. That does not mean that we cannot disagree or tell someone their expectations are ridiculous. Such things happen in life. One of the things that veteran beta testers began with was a very low expectation of the game, given recent history of the title. Newer testers might have jumped in thinking this game was going to be something else and
I think it is a mistake to make monsters less aggressive against cities. The problem is not that monsters are too aggressive, it is that monsters do not scale with time. I love that monsters can attack cities, but the monsters that spawn near a city are too powerful. Surely making them only attack armies and not cities is not a fix to the problem. That still means we can be trapped in our cities while other players roam about in greener pastures, expanding like rodents. The better fix wo
Just played the Alpha 2. They nerfed my repair strategy for the United Empire of Romney so now I am going for a tech-turtle with Sophons. On normal difficulty I thought I was totally owning everyone, until a surprise Craver fleet came out of nowhere and sacked the whole center of the galaxy. So pretty good AI, although the UE and Sophon AI seems to build too few ships in the early and midgame. Cravers are still playing very well. Perhaps I will play on hard now that I have a perfected researc
Play on easy with dense resources and sparse monsters. It should help alot. I will see if I can get a video tutorial up at some point.
Is it sick that I played my own game while listening to these videos? I need help.
I tried to warn you guys. As soon as I get some free time I am going to play the hell out of this game. I also wonder if it is being made by Brad's French evil twin. Most evil twins are from France.
