I will make a nicer post later, but I just finished the first quest for a series I have been working on. It is a quest that takes place in a massive Labyrinth. It is an epic quest more akin to the hardest wildlands imaginable. This is a very long quest and it all takes place in the space of one tile. You will always be striving to escape. This quest is extremely hard. Bring epic gear. Bring a level 20 hero. Bring an army. The rewards are equally high. Enter at your own risk. </p
@Jaosoze, I don't play Empire much. Maybe the next video should focus on them.
Played some of the MP with Werewindlefr. It was fun, but still has a frequent bug that forced us to restart several times. Waiting for a new patch before I play any more. Go ahead and compare it to SoaSE or SWOTOR or C&C, but it is not an RTS or an MMORPG. It only compares in that it takes place in space. The rest of the conversation is moot.
I had heard that Tarthans have a different version of the Pinocchio story... [e digicons]8|[/e]
Nice to know people are watching. I will try to make a few more videos tomorrow. Right now I am working on a rather long quest. It is still in its early development stages, but to give you a hint... Labyrinth! As to the fast stack, I considered that strategy as well, but I am primarily relying on Iron Golems for my front line. I may use some heavy cavalry once my empire expands or I am in a prolonged war, but as of now, I can afford to go slow. I plan on getting Tireles
Love Steam. There was a big moment for me in January of 2000 where everyday I would ask everyone I knew where I could buy a hovercar or at least the hoverboard from Back to the future. Where the hell is my god damn future? I asked that question alot until I found out in 2005 that I could buy games on Steam, play them, delete the local data, and replay them anytime I wanted to. No more scratched/lost/defective/ CD's? Hey guys, I found the future!
I will release some sample quests as soon as they are finished. Much like Klingons, I don't bluff. [e digicons]8|[/e]
They can't add goodie huts though? There's that new store-buyable scroll that spawns quest locations (which I love), maybe it's there now? Or are quest sites significantly distinctive from goodie huts?
There is code to tell the game to spawn a goodie hut. It is used in many quests. Events use a different trigger though and this trigger is bugged. That is why we can't spawn goodie huts f
Feedback is going to be difficult to do while we wait for beta 4. Derek is probably working with a very different game already and it is only going to get worse as the devs change and add stuff. As with hunting in the dark, the key is lots of bullets and random firing.
1-tile city is a bit of a misnomer. Think of it as reduced tiles cities.
I have made a few events. The biggest detractor though is that you cannot spawn a goodie hut from a random event. That means every event has to add a basic game modifier to the game. The trigger for random events is always a population trigger. Right now each time your nation reaches 100 population, the event has a chance to trigger. I don't think we can actually spawn any resources or anything like that until the event system gets some polish. But alot can still be done with what we have
The face hugger that got Weaver at the end of the first movie put a queen in her. I'll bet it would work the same as bees. They make a queen when they need one.
Archers: Unlocks improved bows. Good but not exactly OP. Maybe include a small accuracy or initiative bonus.
Actually those bows do get an Initiative bonus as well as a damage bonus. I think the problem is a general balance issue with archer damage. All bows need at least +1 damage to be competitive. Their techs need to unlock some better traits and improvements to foster a solid archer strategy.
Enchanters: Unlocks Sindran

Regarding my OP: I have been testing out the proposed changes to the tech tree pacing and am loving the result. Might be less relevant for beta 4, but for .915 it is setting a better pace. My let's play videos give a pretty good documentation of the change.
I would bet dollars to cents that we will see some kind of outpost upgrading system. GalCiv3 had a wonderful upgrade system for its starbases. I can't imagine why this game would not follow suit. I count maybe 3 weeks until we see some news on the new features. Maybe sooner with E3 happening now.

Earthquake should unearth shards as well!
Good idea. I would not say no to some special maneuver ability traits too. Some other testers have mentioned the need for trained units to be able to do some special attacks and defenses on the field of battle. This could be the time to try that out.
We are essentially think of random events to be added. Mine is straight out of GalCiv2 if anyone noticed.
Outposts give you 2 square tiles of territory and with a late game tech build a road to your road network. There is no cost to build them other than the pioneer they can be built on any land type. Cities start out at 1 square tile of influence and form a road network with midgame tech. Each city takes an equal portion of your prestige, which is the driving force of population growth. They can train units, build buildings, and be enchanted. They can only be built o

The strategy for me is deciding when I can increase taxes. More taxes means more armies. Sometimes I switch back to None when I really want a new technology or once I get Merchantcross Bazaar. I think the tax system could be a little more generous, but zero taxes should be an option.
Maybe companies should be selling their studios to EA as a sort of biological process. 1. Get a good team together and make a solid game. 2. Expand a bit and make a few sequels until the franchise has run its course. 3. Evaluate your people and the games you have made. Move all the prime stuff to a new studio with a new name. 4. Sell the low performing employees and antiquated titles to EA for millions. </
