Previously, in Galactic Civilizations 2 Dark Avatar Stardock introduced the (much hated) Jagged Knife mega event to service players who prefer quiet, peaceful, calm Hindu cow buildups for the win. Why? Because it can be tediously boring and for worse cheesy. Even Frogboy has posted the inclusion of new beta barbarian aggressiveness to excite the gameplay. Peacetime definitely needs a "gray area" level so mechanics like Jagged Knife are unnecessary. <

Thanks, glad you guys like my presentation. I probably should have picked a catchier title for more clicks. [e digicons]X|[/e] Frogboy stated he wanted end game to show how the world has been changed to a restored state and this will be one more way. Now the world has been made safe while before it was barbaric. Even nations preyed on each other over the countryside in ancient human history. The whole "Such activity may not benefit diploma

Objective : To make elemental more exciting by adding one new adjustment to diplomacy relation options during peacetime. Reason : Relations between nations in most 4x games basically boils down to big surges of war and peace, but what if we had something in between during peacetime to make the game more exciting? Micro conflicts between states within set restrictions will reduce early and late game tedium. As a side effect it will also add t

Guys one of the primary reasons why hemp is illegal is because it competes with the timber industry over specific products like paper, not because of some religious polling.

Bioware has a history of supporting the mod community more than other companies so I'll give them a thumbs up. However, too many Bioware games suffer from same story, different setting syndrome.

I can see this anti-piracy as the birth of a new industry. It will be so profitable that media companies will abuse their privileges and make it targeted easy to pirate purely for the sake of suing you. I'll make sure to let everyone know that President Obama will not tolerate piracy.

Will minors have special economic bonuses, leader traits, resources and diplomacy behavior to offset their relative weakness? Will minors play a roll with quests and random events?

There are different levels of victory. If I had a victorious but insufficient force to occupy a city then other options like resource raids and attacks of attrition become more attractive. One builds up your stockade while the other focuses on disruption.

QUESTS (multiplayer/comp players) As someone with limited mod experience for multiplayer adventure and rpg games, there are a few points I'd like to share for making questing a lot more fun. Multiplayer in this case applies to comp players. -Questing is sometimes more fun when your achievements effect other players, especially if it's negative. It is possible to make squares with some pseudo-hex properties. Think cubicles 2.0. Unfortunately there's a lot of ideas listed and a proper visual aid can't be provided so I'm forced to use other games as examples. Now in Civland a mountain fills one square and only one square thus blocking all basic movement through it. You have to maneuver several squares around. But what if we had a mountain stuck in between four squares but not really occu

Warring and allied factions would probably be best handled by random events or player influence. As individual factions they are not much of a threat but when combined together... Also being sandwiched between two warring factions could make an interesting scenario, especially if it involves minor races.

Combining resources and Collect the whole set! Have a rarer resource unlock when all other resources have been acquired. It can be a boon for those diplomatic minded leaders who can negotiate their way into a limited supply of everything.

Ok, my 2 points. First, how do you expect me to turn in anyone knowing that his pirating would net him a $million+ fine? I can't have that on my conscience. The potential profits lost to the owner is terrible but knowing I'm partially responsible for destroying some guys family and whole life makes sleeping at night difficult. Second, losing our old school newsgroups is an attack on net neutrality. Maybe I'm biased because I respect the old school but h

I was disagreeing with your system because of the flaws like opportunities for abuse and it could alienate traditional 4X tbs fans. Another problem is kingdom versus empire not using a top down pyramid method for administration of research. Your system has average peasants discovering new technologies through daily life influenced by the environment. In other words, the model MAY not completely fit into Elemental lorewise. Let's say the buildings that provide poin

I respectfully disagree but can offer an alternative to satisfy both arguments. To avoid over complication, why not give a basic research bonus for specific tech categories instead? This way you retain all the benefits of the original system and avoid any research railroading plus retraining the average tbs player. For example if I am researching the espionage tech then I can receive x points from research buildings but get an additional point for each tavern built.&nbsp

Wow, am I the only one here who enjoyed X-com Apocalypse's real time/pause combat? I'm not saying there is anything inherently bad with tb combat but it has been known to get tedious in multiplayer depending on army size and how quick your opponents are. Hopefully we can manage civ functions like production and diplomacy during our opponent's turn to alleviate problematic tedium.

The point I was trying to make was that Zerg has some unique differences to the movie Aliens. The Protoss, however are very much like Predator if Predator had martian psychic abilities, technology and enlightenment.

The purpose of this thread is to determine if an auction diplomacy minigame will add to Elemental and its significance to the no tech brokering option plus very special items like artifact pieces or relics for sale. For those of you who don't know what tech brokering is I'll explain and if you're not in this category then just skip to the next paragraph. Tech brokering is a game setting to partially limit the spread of new technology by allowing/disallowing the ri
