Quoting Thiryn, reply 3Isn't this your third account now? Eh...yeah.
I think its his third name. His previous (Middle) name, VladimirVladimir or something like that appears to have been changed to ScienceMad. If I had to guess, that's probably the name of the first account that got banned and the forum Mods have been nice and folded his accounts back together.
If you edit the original post, you should be given access to a drop down menu of subforums to which to move it.
This is a very clever scheme! I applaud. Your "refer a friend" button appears to be *not* working. I put in my friend's gmail address and I get "error, cannot connect to server". Edit: added *not*, good thing Kestral can understand me even when I leave out critical words!
I have the beta, and other impulse games, installed on both my laptop and my desktop right now.
1. No Download Limit. 2. If Stardock Still Exists, in all likelihood yes. 3. Yes, in fact, it's the only way to get patches, which Stardock pours love into.
In the expansion pack, Alpha Centarui: Alien Crossfire there were 2 alien factions alongside the usual human factions. If the aliens or humans took a base from the other, the base was reduced to 1 population, and the rest of the population took flight in colony pods. This represented the two species being so radically different that there was no possible way at coexistence within a single base. I would consider this the baseline, and then if we want to get creative with co
He's looking at the release schedule and seeing this:
Release: Elemental publicly available (WHEN IT'S READY) Single Player: Beta Tester Content (spells, quests, characters released based on player feedback). Multiplayer: Arena mode (remember Archon?). Multiplayer: The Kingdoms vs. The Empires. Single Player: Quest Pack (a thank you for buyers). Single Player: Monster Pack (a thank you for buyers). <p
Funnily enough, unintrusive is a word, I just don't know how it's spelled.
Not much to add, other than the word that you're looking for is unobtrusive , somewhat counter-intuitive.
Interesting questions Raven, I know I'd be interested in the answer to at least the 2nd one. On a technical note, this reads horribly color-wise on the standard elemental forum. Just letting you know.
The ability to alter the terrain is a weapon. Even with alterations as minor as raise/lower land, as in Alpha Centauri, this is true. Teach the AI to fight using the map and it will be an awesome thing.
well, like many games you would have a goal. each type of society would have an ultimate goal that once accomplished then you win. I like this idea, but it seems to me that by going the route of a single society type would overpower a person who is balancing. because if you balance then you wouldn't get these uber bonuses.
You also end up railroaded into a particular societal-build after a while, which
Quoting Zaisha, reply 61 Ehm, there's this thing called a "markup". Retailers make a profit by charging customers more for products than the retailers buy them for. I'm sure charging your supplier for buying their stuff is nice for the retailer, but you have to admit it's a little weird. (I doubt a dairy company has to pay a supermarket to sell their milk and butter, for instance.) But it's industry standard
quoting post The long, hard, scary time consuming feature is the AI. It’s the one feature that could delay the game beyond August 24th. If the game gets delayed, the alternative release is second week of February. sry but can i ask why? i mean its some kind of internal joke? otherwise how is it possible that cant be delayed just 2 months or 3 or 1? i mean if you now think its possible
I recently bought Master of Magic off gog. In the beginning the game runs very fast. Near the end turns become achingly slow. Has anyone else experienced this? Were you able to fix it? Does this happen in Master of Orion 2? -Othello
When you say slow - the game itself slows down as it plays AI turns (computing resources are strained), or there's just so much more stuff to do each turn that each
Supreme Commander 2 is $10.99 on Steams weekend deal. I've played and enjoyed Warhammer 40k DOW2, Demigod and Company of Hero's online. I'd pick up Starcraft 2 but it sounds the beta is almost closed and I would want my multiplayer fix today and next week in addition to when it comes out. I have no intention to play the campaign. Is Supreme Commander 2's multiplayer worth $10.99? And keep in mind I would never play SC1 online for the same rea
I'm trying to work on some visualizations of the elemental tech system (for discussion purposes) and would find it really handy to have access to the XML to read off the techs and their availability chances at each tier etc. rather than having to harvest it by hand (playing). Has anyone found them yet? I've looked through the game-folder (installation directory) and the usual suspect place (mygames/elemental), and don't see them. This leads me to suspect that they're maske
For the Civil one I don't like the idea of it being based on cities... Could you code it so that you retain the bonus unless *YOU* declare war. That would solve the problem of other players playin cheap and robbin you of your bonus, as long as you play strictly defensively.
This is almost certainly possible - in fact, I like it better than the off-hand I threw out. See, you do have something to contribute [e digicons]O:)[/e] . Yeah, caps would probably be
I like Sareln's suggestion very much. It provide one new important feature that is missing so far, i.e. how you build your research building affects the how fast a specific area of research can be advanced. In current beta, there is no such sophistication; you pick your next area of research (mostly) according to your current need. Using Sareln's system, it allows your empire/kingdom specialize in a specific area
Med. II was a solid enhancement over their original visit, so I'm hopeful for this one. Empire was definitely a lemon, and I took a pass on Napoleon. We'll see how it goes, but I hope they're not counting on a preorder! [e digicons]O:)[/e]
*finishes a game of CIV IV* *plays his turn for a FfH PBEM - damn Stasis* Nothing wrong with being stuck on CIV IV from this one, that's good stuff there [e digicons]O:)[/e] .
I was disagreeing with your system because of the flaws like opportunities for abuse and it could alienate traditional 4X tbs fans. Another problem is kingdom versus empire not using a top down pyramid method for administration of research. Your system
War Academy increases research on War techs by 30% etc. I like this idea. Easy to understand, doesn't require a separate point system, etc. IMO the entire city/tech system is currently deeply broken and will eventually be reworked, so a lot of our assumptions about how it "has" to work may prove to be false. RE: realism in tech If it were realistic, we wouldn't have tech trees. In order to access higher levels of technology, the game would be about buil
But then, would specialized RPs build up even if you aren't researching that line? If I have 10 General RPs, 3 warefare RPs, 4 Magic RPs, and 1 Adventuring RP, what happens if I'm researching warfare? Do I produce 13 RPs in warfare, 4 in magic, and 1 in adventuring? Or do I just produce 13 in warfare? Both would allow specialization, but I'm not sure which I prefer. The second scenario is a little clea
I respectfully disagree but can offer an alternative to satisfy both arguments. To avoid over complication, why not give a basic research bonus for specific tech categories instead? This way you retain all the benefits of the original system and avoid any research railroading plus retraining the average tbs player. For example if I am researching the espionage tech then I can receive x points from research buildings
Wow Sareln, Nice thought into that. Great expansion on the original idea. My only disagreement would be the base research points. The system I proposed tends to mean that all RP's need to be specialized. But beyond that that is definitely a logical step in the right direction.
Yeah, I'm not actually that keen on completely specialized research. Here's the main issue for me: How does the player know he needs to focus? Or Specialize? Why shoul
