Long story short Civ 5 just felt like Civ-Lite with a crappy interface.
I have to agree. But the intro vid was great... the first 2 or 3 times...

Remappable keys would be very nice.
That title's definitely due for a remake.
The review of Civ 5 was spot on, imo. Myself I couldn't quite put a finger on why I got bored of that game so quickly, but I think he's right that stupid combat AI had a lot to do with it.
you dont even have to save and reload for the town name changing bug all you have to do is move a unit into or out of the town and it will revert back to itself.
I'll try that, thanks!
When are we going to get a fix to the towns names changing during gameplay on the overhead display. This has been an issue since release and even though it was minor one compared to many other bugs at release it would be good to know that it might be looked at soon. It becomes very hard to find certain towns when playing on a large map. Thanks
I still see this problem as w
Personally I think they should just drop "egalitarianism" altogether and every faction should default to having both male and female soldiers. If you want your army to be all male (or all female), just click "New" again if a female model comes up.
Can we update from the beta (I've got 1.09u) to 1.1 or do we need to go back & reinstall?
Still patiently waiting, and obsessively clicking Refresh on impulse. [e digicons][/e]
That ain't right.
I defeated Resoln but one of her units didn't disappear, and now it seem to be invincible. Can't attack, can negotiate (?!?), even cast Inferno on the square, and the unit got down to 2 HP but still there. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16152315/invincible_mob.EleSav Mob is camped right outside of Nini, the northernmost city.
No one else has encountered this?
Pretty much says it all. Created a custom Sov, played a previous game in which I married Nabaja. (And why not... Assassin + Dominate not bad) Now, starting a new game with the same Sov, on turn 1 go to the Dynasty screen, and he's still married to her, but she's dead. I assume this means he can't remarry... so no offspring. :( Save game: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16152315/married_t
Would it be possible for the unit card to update when an enemy's chance of retaliating is zero (i.e. he's out of counters)?
Isn't it usually spelled Entropy ?
I'm not in favor of making huge changes, or of going back to pre-global mana. However I really think Imbue champion needs some kind of nerf. Either (a) you can't "unimbue" a champion once you have done so; or (b ) "unimbue" is a separate spell and costs more mana.
4. Fixed a crash when clicking train on a level 3 city (with low resources). How can we avoid the crash until its fixed? (What do you mean by "with low resources"?)
It is probably reasonable to assume that the cataclysm, which pretty much destroyed most of the things living on the planet, also killed off the fish and mammals in the waters. Fishable resource nodes would make sense, but food from any harbour wouldn't, in my opinion. For the same reason you can't just start farming anywhere on the map.
Not that realism is important here, but if there was no marine life at all there would hardly
So with 1.09n, we can now build as many Studies, Arcane labs, Workshops as we can afford. Also, we get income from taxing populations. I got to thinking: you could add an interesting layer of complexity to the game by giving bonuses for organizing cities. Like, bonus for building "neighborhoods" of adjacent bonus buildings... what if you could upgrade a block of 4 Studies into a Think tank, (or 4 Arcanes into a Mystic College, etc.)? Something to reward speci
Same thing, with a Bandit archer I got as a guardian... City guards resist bow attacks 100% of the time.
I'm not sure it's such a great idea to have the spells in the Movement spellbook allow you to t-port your sov and his army. But at the very least you shouldn't be able to port Caravans. Right now you can just build a caravan in any city, move your Sov or an imbued Champ to it, and cast Teleport to the square next to a city. Instant road.
Agio, I had a lost library in my last game. They're very rare but in, had a horsey as well.
Yeah I saw a post from Frogboy saying they were much, much rarer now. So I guess we just have to build tons of Studies.
I think they're too rare... in fact I thought they had been taken out because I never saw a single one in playing since Friday. (I did however see two Temples seeded right next to each other!)
My biggest complaints so far: -- No more Lost Libraries... makes me sad as I am a librarian IRL. -- Needs to be made much more clear that "Archery range" is required to build Archer units, and "Command post" for squads. -- Imbuing champions should cost more, or be permanent. -- I don't like Monastery just being a bigger research bonus instead of a multiplyer. But if it's going to stay that way you definitely need to update the description.<
Maybe they don't want EWoM to be too much like AoW but I really like the way global mana is implemented in that game: with "casting points" (ie number of mana points you can spend per turn) and also giving "global" spells a limited range extending from the sov. I also think "Imbue champ" should either be a permanent enchantment, or you should have to sacrifice something other than just mana to cast it. The way it is now, you can do all sorts of cheesy things like: only imbue you
