Well that's good to know, but I'm not sure you can tell that from the interface. For the forge, I'll verify this, but I'm pretty sure I haven't researched mining in this game. (Since I don't have any ore nearby.) So should I have been able to research the forge tech? For the granary, this city does have a farm but it may be bugged. I'm just now noticing in the second screenshot the farm has shifted and is now partially covered by another building.

I remember the manual/strategy guide for the original Age of Wonders... I think they gave it out as a pre-order bonus at the last minute or something because I remember getting it rather unexpectedly. That thing was nice and think, with pretty much everything you wanted to know about every unit. If the limited edition is definitely coming with something like that I'll be all over it. Later, LAR

Look past the hypothetical examples and toward the concept, please.
Oh ya, it makes sense. I wasn't attacking your idea, I was just floored by the number of units you're giving out.=) But in any case I think this: [quote who="lwarmonger

Stack limit of 8 in a stack. ....
If I'm remembering correctly, couldn't you attack with multiple stacks at once in Age of Wonders? I do agree that a limit of 8 units per stack is way too low, but let me respond to your example with another example. In Civ IV a popular strategy of AI is the stack of doom. We're talking about 30+ units in a single stack. The only defense against th

My biggest problem with ribbons is when I know something exists, but I simply can't find it. In 2003 I can scan the menus and I'll usually find it pretty quickly. With ribbons I have to... parse what I'm looking at. I don't know about anyone else but I find that the icons are kinda visually distracting. Also, sometimes things aren't in the ribbon I expect and sometimes they aren't even listed on a ribbon. I've had plenty of times where I've had to click on a

I'm pretty sure this is on purpose. Limiting what resources you have available forces you to adapt to different strategies. Right now it seems overly limited because there aren't any other strategies, such as magic, you can use. Later, LAR

That's the major ongoing cost to founding a city, and it shouldn't be so easily avoided.
I definitely do not like this idea. I'm all for using essence to get ahead early in the game, but to continue taking away what's arguably the most valuable resource in the game is a bit drastic. I kinda like the idea of food bei

Sweet dreams Raven. I have two ideas, one feasible, one probably not so much. First is why not use the cloth map for uncluttered status updates. I see this working in two ways. Some kind of marker, like a circle, on units that have completed their tasks and are waiting for instructions. Then, while in cloth map mode, the active status icons would move next to the location they're referencing. When you go back to 3D mode they pop back on the ri

@ John_Hughes I'm not sure I agree. If you have two cities or ten, defending them isn't that different. With the assumption laid out in this thread that more cities = more $$, you can then use that money to buy adventurers and champions to defend those cities. Later, LAR

Unless you're putting these cities right on top of each other, the cost of building so many cities so quickly is your Sovereign's essence. While it doesn't matter in 2A, but once magic is in using that much essence at the beginning of the game will probably end up being to your detriment. Later, LAR

I see I wasn't the only person surprised by the highlighting. A little bit of a tangent, but when the beta's further along, say in Beta 3, it might be useful if we had a way to start an advanced game. Starting with 20-30 cities and a mass of units. It could be as simple as Stardock providing a save for us to use. It se
