Well since you can obviously program superior AI why don't you get to cracking sparky?
This is not constructive. Just because he, as a customer, does not have the knowledge to provide a solution does not mean he is not allowed to complain about what he sees as a shortcoming of the game. I agree the AI is weak. Brad said he'd be working on the AI more and the game should be much better in a patch to be relea

I'm glad that only trolls think Elemental has problems. Hopefully they'll be gone soon.
Yawn.
Reminds me of Civ 3. When the AI would sneak a settler through your zone of control and plant a colony in the middle of your country.

What happened to that advanced beta build Frogboy kept talking about that was supposedly way more advanced than our old beta versions? [e digicons]
Archers in general were not as effective as it would seem from video games. Archery worked by release as many arrows towards the enemy and hope for hits. Archers could have damage reduction based on their range. Or they could have a reload time between shooting. If they wanted to get really fancy they could make it based on experience. What does unit experience do anyway?
Elemental has no achievements. [e digicons]:borg:[/e]
Can someone tell me if the faction editor currently works ? I think there was an issue with technologies not being in game.
Are you saying that within your territory they built a new city? Or they built a new city near your territory that ended up taking resources from you?
One thing I absolutely love is that not often, but SOMETIMES, Elemental presents the chance for a city to become a super city. There were many cities in the ancient world, but some cities had access to a certain resources or excellent positioning that made them greater than any other city could be. Some fine examples would be Constantinople or the Nile cities. You, my friend, could have founded Alexandria. But wait - where are the rivers? Removed
You can't go on dates but if you get your reputation high enough you can just skip to proposal. If only real life worked this way men would be wealthier and women wouldn't have their puppetmaster reputation they have now. ;)
I'm happy because Civ 5 comes out next month and I'll probably shelf Elemental until I burn out on that. By that time I bet Elemental is like a radically new game. It's cool because it is like getting two releases on one game. I've decided my 50 dollars wasn't a purchase but an investment. The patches? Those are dividends. I'll be back to collect next week, boys. ;)
If they used circles we could move our units in 360 possible directions. Now THAT is what I call tactical.
Did you set the option for tactical battles down to 0? I think it has a default rating of 3-4 participants before it goes to tactical screen.
Problems differ also based on set ups. FWIW, I have 6GB of Ram and I haven't seen the game slow to a crawl but it does become unresponsive later down the line.
I name my cities like this: A city, B city, C city, D city The only thing that worries me is if I play on a huge map what I will do after Z.
All Hail Master Blaster!
Express disappointment.
Play some more. :P
rossanderson seems to think anyone who doesn't claim Elemental is the best game ever is a troll. Methinks he needs to hit the books and look up the definition of a troll. I must warn him that he may only find his own picture on that page! I intend right now to sit down and play through another game of Elemental. I'm going to play on a large map, jack up the AI difficulty to maximum and see what happens. My main gripes with the game currently are i
From what I've seen city walls do NOT show up in combat.
I haven't had the pleasure of exploring tactical battles as much as I'd like to: I'm curious - Is there any bonus to attacking from behind, flanking an enemy unit? Can cavalry charge?
Quoting stoicfaux, reply 16I was on the fence also. Judging from what I've seen and read, I would say no. The problems I see are: * AI is very weak * game mechanics aren't implemented enough (ex: high level Magic spells don't scale, no meaningful documentation, bad interface, odd content, etc.) * Multi-player isn't activated. The cynical side of me thinks that that is code for "it hasn't bee
I would not recommend it to you. If you're patient, and don't mind the feeling you're playing by yourself then go for it. The city building and kingdom/empire building aspect is actually pretty fun. It is neat to see you bringing life and civilization back to a dead world. The gameplay itself is very shallow though, the battles are not very fun and have strategic element to them, and the AI seems to act randomly as if their decisions were based on a dice roll. If you're
