IIRC Blizzard tried for the license to use WH40K at that time and got turned down. But they wanted that game to badly they changed some names and did it anyway.
Well... I can see how that happened. Really, I don't care who copied who. Both games are good in their own right and have a different twist on the same basic concepts. EDIT: After looking at the above image of the Protoss I realized that there's a real Egyptian vi

Nothing good ever comes out of these mass witch-hunts. Nothing. There's only one way to get people to do anything: stop consuming their stuff. The policy would change tomorrow if everyone simply agreed to not use stuff from companies that persecute individuals in this manner. It's not easy, mind you, but it is simple. If we don't force corporations to work on our terms, the alternative is to passively accept whatever policies they decide and grumble about it. Basically, if peo
So when modding starts, please don't think less of me. I am not a real game designer like Chris Taylor or Will Wright. I'm a gamer who likes to code AI. The limitations in our games (galciv included) are typically the result of a lack of imagination in my part.
To your credit, you do go to great lengths to explain game mechanics in terms of backstory. Most designers don't really bother to do that. Case in point: Galactic Civilizations. The "humans inventing hyperdrive"

(Forgive me if this shows up as a double post. I am experiencing forum explosions.) It seems zooming in on cities from the Cloth Map to the 3D view causes my game to crash. Doesn't happen 100% of the time, but enough so that it's pretty certain I won't be able to get out of early game. I can't think of any mod that I wouldn't try at least once. I mean, even a Little Ponies mod might be funny and satisfy my sick curiosity. Actually, come to think of it, the only kind of mod I don't play are Star Wars mods. Not because I hate Star Wars or am even against Star Wars mods. It's just I'm always drawn to other mods and for some reason Star Wars is just low on my list.

Well... this is much more like the Dominions III magic system. And I lurves the Dominions III magic system. This would do good in forcing variety with the different elements. You could have a "fire" based information gathering spell, which would be cool. The other thing I'd add is how much I like the idea of special spellbooks that are rare and can only be gotten by going on quests. I think that's a pretty good idea too. Personally, I like the idea, a

I played around with idea of making "invader" factions... nations from other worlds out to dominate the world of Elemental by various means. That way, I wouldn't really have to tie it to any prior lore and I could do whatever I wanted with them.

https://forums.elementalgame.com/374531 Welcome newfreshperson! Please orient yourself to Wintersong's excellent meticulous guide. Don't be worried about being "good" at the game. Any skill or strategies you pick up now will probably be moot by the time the game comes out. And when you play the beta... be prepared to be a little disappointed. But remember it's still a heck of a lot better than beta 1A, and the betas
I'd just like to give Everyone a "A" for Effort . I would like to suggest though that we should be trying to come up with more Spells that Change The Game. Damage spells are a Dime a Dozen. In Game the only REAL difference in damage type spells is that one may come from one school of magic while one comes from another school of magic. The Only Real Difference is in the Animations and Cosmetics. Lets see Less +10, -10, Damage

A vietnam veteran armed with a heavy lead pipe. He was tormented by vietcong wearing suits that sparkle in the sunlight. He has vowed vengeance.
Unlike most people here, I prefer to play as the good side in games (or neutral if it's available), and I find it boring that in Elemental it's represented only by the Human race. A book where only Humans are good can be a good read, but a game based on this setting feels a little lacking. It's nice that Frogboy has his own vision of a fantasy world and wants to make a game based on it, but I'm not happy that it causes the game to lac

Well... I'm just going to go out on a limb and talk about the sort of spells I really liked to see. My favorite all-time spell? Detect Evil from Baldur's Gate II. It's not even a particularly useful spell, I just love the "whooshing" sound and how they all flashed red. It was also interesting that otherwise completely mundane or harmless NPCs would show up as evil, I was always curious about their backstories. Unfortunately, to make this spell actually useful, you'd actually need to a

I have to say my dissenting opinion. This was the most boring beta since Beta 1 A. I hadn't realized how much fun I get from building cities. In this beta, if you don't have a Scholar Champion to begin with, you're on the slow track quick. Personally, I'd never go for a adventurer build without an early scholar. It's much better to build a city and concentrate on Civilization in this case. Doing adventuring without a scholar puts you in the hole for research quick

Ambitious. I don't think you'll need to go so far as having musketeers casting a "shoot gun" spell. I'm pretty sure you can edit the scripting to get a black-powder type effect.
