Here's my take on reselling games. Let's say SD makes 1000 copies of a game, and sells all 1000 copies. That's all the income they are entitled to for those games. If those 1000 people sell their games to a third party, SD isn't entit
It took me eight hours to beat Black Ops on Heroic, and assuming I do not jump out the window attempting it, I imagine the top difficulty will take me ten or more, most of it spent crying as I die over and over. Also, I agree that the multiplayer is excellent. The best way I can sum it up is as WaW and MW combined, with a lot of MW2 touch ups. So, you know, the best of the best combined. Also, a little bit of homework for a

It's not so much about city spamming but still completely unspecialized cities. Level-up bonuses don't make a city specialized. Every city is still an economic and military city, just slightly more or less so than others. This isn't specialization..

Registrations can be transferred, but SD does not directly support the resale of games since they don't see any income from that sale. Anyone trying to buy a game "used" that's already registered to an Impulse account takes a risk that the registration will remain attached to the original account, preventing them from updating/playing MP unless they have access to that other account. I would not take the answers above as encouragement that resale of games registered to an account is f
Considering how much negativity Modern Warfare 2, Activision Blizzard and Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard, generate in the gaming world, I can't help but feel surprised that so many people are interested in a new Call of Duty title. Discuss?
Because the vast majority of gamers don't give a damn about Kotick or Activision Blizzard. They just want to play a game. Black Ops basically keeps everything MW2 did

I really don't think a game info wiki calls for as much scrutiny as a global wiki that's used by many millions of people :P

To be fair, there doesn't have to be a memory leak in order to go OOM. That's the fastest and surest way, but there are cases where stuff just needs a ton of memory and ends up goofing up as the game goes on and on. To give you an idea of how weird it can be, I once had a completely strange crash in Sins of a Solar Empire that I didn't get - I sent them the minidump, and they got back to me saying the game ran out of memory when trying to draw the movement arrows for my fleet (it crashed when
Also, in what context is copying 'intellectual property' theft? A song broadcast over the (public) airwaves is recorded, and played at home. Is that theft? You record the current episode of your fav show. You play it later. Is that theft? It will be soon, when the broadcast / cable industry figure out how to apply the software license mechanism to movies, videos, and music. Soon...
I think this entire debate comes down to a simple question. Do people really want to worry about actually making weapons/armor? I mean I have played Settlers and can easily say that is not exactly fun times for me to have to build 18 buildings and manage a whole host of workers so that I can make 1 suit of armor.
Perhaps so, but does that mean for the system to work Elemental also needs 18 buildings and a whole host of workers? I think not :)

Yeah, but Gal Civ 2 was way back before SD became a lot more well known. Sins, Demigod, and Elemental (along with publicity from things like the GBOR) have pretty dramatically increased SD's presence on the 'net. It may be that for SD's long-time fans it already has a reputation of putting out buggy releases and fixing them later, but I think for the majority that point isn't quite reached. Certainly, I've never read multiple reviews and news articles all over the internet about Gal Civ 2's l

Kill enemy heroes and can get some of their equipment, steal a spell from a casters spell book? Smacking a hero upside the head now just makes them go away , you cannot even get their armor or sword, maybe offer it for a repair penalty if you really want. Lets see some intersting twists out of the whole "reso

Between Elemental and Civ5, I am going to start waiting about 3 months before I buy a new strategy game. I can see myself switching between the two as each one gets patched... Yeah seriously. I'm getting to the point where buying games at full price is only for suckers. Give me a sale six months after release and an already

Yep, when you buy with Paypal the registration automatically goes to the email associated with your Paypal account. You can merge the registrations so you can use it on your main account. To do this, you can either e-mail [email protected] and they'll do it for you, or you can do it yourself at https://www.stardock.com/support/registrations/

I realize Steam is pretty not compatible with anything that is not Steam, but I got the impression Impulse works since Impulse installs to the actual directory yes?
Nope, sorry, I don't have any experience with Impulse and this situation. Impulse can be set to ask where you want to install the game/app so in theory this should not be an issue (except apparently Sims 3 and
It's not about re-inventing the wheel for each instalment, it's about creating a unique experience for each. Diablo III, thanks to some fairly significant changes, is going to play almost entirely different to Diablo II. Any claims to contrary are simply wrong.
Have you played it? No? I did, at PAX last year, and you couldn't be more wrong. The first thing I told a friend afterward is how awesome it was going to be because it felt like playing a prettied up and improv

Generally speaking, all the DD platforms get their own set of keys, and retail keys (unless the game uses Steamworks or Goo) and especially for old games, aren't recognized by the DD clients. So, basically, you can't convince Steam that you have the game because you can't get it to recognize the key. On top of that, Steam uses its own directories for games, sometimes has separate Steam-only patches, and in a few occasions mods for games have not worked with a Steam version of the

Blizzard doesn't innovate, it refines and polishes. Starcraft was hugely successful, why would they make Starcraft 2 into something else? It plays like Starcraft, and has enough new stuff to make it new. And hey, it's hugely successful. Diablo 3 will also play like Diablo 2, but have enough new stuff to make it new, and will also be hugely successful. How much innovation can there be in Hack & Slash RPGs? Titan Quest has the same features D2 had, and it came out years after D2. I

There's no comprehensive graphics pack yet for the game, but I'm guessing there will be. There are a lot of shared textures between NV and FO3, but also a lot of new ones. I saw a script that transferred shared textures from an HD Texture pack for FO3 into NV if you had the FO3 mod installed, but there's not a complete one for NV yet.

As far as registration goes, you can just log into Impulse on the laptop and download and install the game with no issues. You won't be able to play multiplayer between the two computers since currently it needs a unique account for each client, however it sounds like that's not what you're trying to do anyway.

Does anyone know of good Choose Your Own Adventure books for adults? It's an enjoyable game if you like these things: 1) RTS (even though it's slower, still an RTS) 2) Playing against stacked odds - the AI always starts out with everything other than your home colonized/defended. 3) Playing against a purely reactive AI. The third point bears explaining - the AI in AI War is 100% reactive. It has some scripted timed events (like every so often with a bit of variation, launch wave of ships of strength <how much you pissed the AI off&
