Here: http://elementalgame.com/army I remember a news post or two about it (including a coupon for those who joined), and there's a Join Army link on top of the page at least after the layout redesign. I don't remember if it was there before.

I've never seen anything official on campaign length. All we know is it's made with the mod tools that we'll have access to :P I don't think they've even said if it's all on one map from start to finish, now that I think about it.

I think that's kind of what the Elemental Army thing was supposed to do, since it basically got users to expose the game more publicly :) I hope it worked!

It sounds like it was changed (or the "update" was pulled?) so that it doesn't nuke your existing beta install. Can't check since I'm not home, though :P

I don't even think Stardock has any 32-bit development machines left, just ones for compatibility testing :P
my i partially hijack this thread with a completely innocuous question? has there been any mention of timeframes for a demo after release? my searches so far of the dev journals have yielded no results...
My personal guess would be about a month. That's roughly how long it took to put out the Sins demo, if I remember right. Granted Sins wasn't developed by SD, but I think they'll go for the same reasoning: if they h

They've been setting up for the release, which probably means they'd want to test to make sure the download/update works properly. I'm guessing that's why they disabled our keys, so they can mess with making sure the game is set up properly on Impulse and not worrying about people getting access to it. So if the run button is back, I imagine they just pulled the update after testing that it works :P

Yup, that's the standard procedure. But some folks have been posting that they haven't been getting confirmation emails for preordering, and it sounds like that's the case with the OP as well.
dude called Kryo just lost it and just did nothing to appease the people who had a problem (I did not have one, working at the time, I did not push the doom button).
I can't agree with you on this. People don't need appeasing. And I agree with Kryo's actions. From what I can see, the threads were locked because the same guy kept screaming bloody murder in every single one of them and flaming people who tried to give him explanations as to what happened. Chances are that it has, but feel free to email [email protected] to confirm. You can also hop on IRC (irc.stardock.com #stardock) and ask there. Support folks hang out in the channel and sometimes have some time for quick things like this for people, but email should still be your primary attempt :)
Does point 1 mean we cant even play modded games online??
At the moment, yes. Keep in mind custom servers are probably going to end up pretty high on the priority list, but at release the dedicated servers will only be able to run unmodded games.

Yeah, and? He was complaining that nobody said what was happening. Which is obviously not true, since there's a post that describes what's happening. Doesn't matter when it was made or edited - something unexpected happens, they post about it pretty quickly. That's how it works. I shouldn't even have to remind people that it happened pretty late at night on the east coast, and they were still around to let people know. Who "slipped through the cracks"? Where'd you hear that?
Hey Brad, in the last installment you said that time passes in Elemental however you imagine it to. I noticed that it said "age 0" on the card for sandra when she was born, so how many turns did it take here to grow up + become a unit? (and what age would that be?) This also begs the question, do people get old and die in elemental, like Roland's wife, since she isn't a channeler?
It takes 100 turns for the kid to mature

I've bought stuff on the Amazon Marketplace, but only from actual companies with a very high rating from lots of users. Haven't been disappointed yet. Just gotta be careful who you buy from there and do a little research on the seller (and avoid individuals, obviously). My latest buy was a modem for a good price from Electronica Direct, the order was not fulfilled by Amazon but it was through their Marketplace. I ordered early morning, got shipping notification not even 3 hours later. Can't c

Honestly I'm a bit surprised tactical battles got taken out of MP completely. It seems to me the easier option would be to leave it in, but let whoever is creating the game set the threshold. I would imagine it's always better to be able to have tactical battles and chosing not to (by just clicking auto-resolve), than not having the option. If people complain that tactical battles in MP aren't fun, you can improve them and in the meantime they're free to skip them, which in my opinion is a be
Are those of us who pre-ordered a few weeks ago (Limited Edition here) supposed to have an icon available in Impulse at this time? I'm not currently seeing anything. I hope everything is okay
No, you aren't. Only the people who had beta access are having the funkyness with disabled keys and update showing up. If you never had beta access, nothing should be showing up and when the game is released (whether pr
But the game isn't specifically designed to support it.
But it is, since all the required resources needed for solo adventuring (gold, research, spell research) can be acquired without building a single city. ;)

35 Replies 17,827 Views

It's mostly a question of balance, which could easily be changed in a mod to make lone adventuring easier or harder. The mechanics are all there to allow for solo adventuring without building up an empire. You can have research, spell research, gold income without cities. You can get items through quests, you can hire wandering champions, etc. It's just a question of numbers - whether you can get enough research to make it viable (considering you don't need to research things like Civilizatio

I'll be waiting for day0. Not much point in playing 1.0, since there's potential for saves to break if enough stuff changes in day0 patch.
