sure but then the game would be only champions against champions cause all the rest would be like ants for them
How are you getting this? I don't think you're fully understanding how it would work. Even if the champion has 60 attack and one of the units in a squad has 20 defense, your champion still only does one attack. So even if it completely mangles that unit, still only one dies out of the squad because there was one defense roll to one attack roll. <p

Yeah, I know, we've been pitching the idea in various threads for a while :P Of course it's possible to change it, but not for us ;) I think this is something that's likely to be seriously looked at now that the game is released, and hopefully tweaked in an update. I'd be a bit surprised if it's left as-is. As modders we'd only be able to change it if the relevant mechanic is exposed to python scripting down the line, and at the moment there's no guarantee of that.

More or less, yes. It would've been great if they had an extra month with a completely finished game that needed only polish and nothing else, but they did the best they could and managed to put out a good game that has the mechanics down pretty solid. After all, it's easier to balance and polish minor issues after release than fix a completely broken mechanic :) There's no doubt that the game will improve, despite being less-than-I'd-like polished on its release. The best we can do is help t
If you have any questions, feel free to post :) Those of us from beta can help with the learning curve. They are putting in more hints and notifications and explanations for the actual day0 update, according to another thread, so that should help a bit as well.
Does it happen randomly on any goodie hut tile? Or always happen on the same tile? Is there anything you can notice that's different between when it does happen, and when it works normally?
As far as I'm aware, monsters are not allowed to spawn within your influence. I think there's a setting when creating a game that has something to do with monster spawns, too.
Negative threads serve their purpose, unless they're just flaming - those should be locked. But the game does still need work, and constructive negative threads help illustrate the areas that need more love. Removing all the negative threads and leaving only the flowery ones would do more harm than good, most people aren't that stupid :P
Yes, some of the balancing still needs a lot of work. One big issue that hugely affects champions is the fact that a unit group simply pools all of its stats and treats it as one. So if you have 10 units with 10 damage each, on an attack the game just rolls 0-100. This is obviously bad when your single champion only has 30 hp. What should happen is each of those 10 units rolls 0-10 and the champion is then given a defense roll for each of the 10 attacks. This change alone would make s
Also make sure "Use mods" is actually checked in the options screen.
Are you talking about the City Build Zoom mode? AFAIK it gives you a top down view when you go to place buildings, but closing out of the improvement construction window is supposed to revert the camera. I haven't used the mode in ages, though, and it might be a bug if it sticks.
Ha, actually found a minor bug with the second quest.. even though it rewards a shield, it lists the "Sword of the Sovereign" and has the picture of the sword.
RewardText > The Sword of the Sovereign RewardText > RewardImage >
Thanks gabisar :) I've found it in the XML, however looking at the quests there's some inconsistency about how it's structured. There's a level 2 quest called "The Legendary Blacksmith" that asks for 2 midnight stones in exchange for a shield. Do you know if that one works? Looking at the differences between the two now.
Unfortunately, yes, an undefended city just gets razed. There were suggestions floating around to take a percentage of population as "militia" defenders in a case where you don't have a military stationed in the city. But, at the moment, be sure to leave your city with protection or wandering aggressive monsters/bandits (not all are aggressive) can just waltz in and raze it.
What do you mean by "won't hit straight away"? Can you be more specific as to what exactly happens?

According to BoogieBac in another thread, they're putting in a lot more new-player-friendly information into the campaign. I can't attest to button funkyness, but hopefully it should help to let you know how stuff works.
There are 2 ways to get to the equipment screen, and the items section with the vitals isn't it. First is a button at the bottom of the unit portrait in the center (only highlighted if you have non-equipped equippables in your inventory, like armor/weapons). The second is by clicking on the icon next to your unit's HP bar on the other side of the portait. Similarly, clicking the icon next to mana will bring up the spellbook. It's not communicated very clearly.
To add to this a bug in the same category - if you hold down a key (like esc), it will continue accumulating "presses", so depending on how long you hold it down you might end up clicking "back to game" a great many times.
So to be perfectly clear: you don't see Elemental listed at all in "my games"? Do you have "show pre-release versions" checked? I don't think they have it flagged as pre-release anymore, though. Another thing to check - in the top right, hit the blue ? icon and select View Registrations. Does it say Invalid or something for Elemental? Like kryo said, it sounds like your key didn't get re-enabled somehow.
It's not quite the same as adding a "default" button, but you can reset all the options (sadly can't pick and choose which tab) by deleting your prefs.ini file in My Documents\My Games\Elemental folder.
I haven't had time to mess around much, but from Frogboy's posts it seems like the maps are only pseudo-random, such that you'd end up with the same continents and such eventually, but the goodie huts/resources/etc are randomized within them? Better than nothing, but then we need at least 40-50 different seeds for these kinds of maps - they do need to be geographically different to be enjoyable. Same geography but different positions for "stuff" doesn't really compare.
Unfortunately, your answers are: doesn't exist that I've seen, no, I don't know. :P Once you know for sure that you've won, you can use the auto-resolve button that replaces the Kingdom Report button from the strategic map (on the left hand side of the bottom UI bar during tactical battles), but it just auto-finishes the battle, doesn't let you cut in anywhere.
Whoops, I did miss the part that the OP was modifying he wrong file. Yay, Dash!
