I'm not going to call you a troll, but what's your point? Yes, the game needs some fixes. A new patch is coming out tomorrow which should have some fixes and balance tweaking. Certainly you can complain, but there was no point to your post other than to rant a bit. If you feel so strongly, you can try contacting and rationally explaining why you'd like a refund. You can also put the game away for a bit and wait for a couple patches. O

I will love you forever for a non-twitchy tactical battle camera. In a strictly platonic way, of course.
Sorry, I should have mentioned that ProgramData is a hidden folder. In Explorer, go to Tools > Options > View, and select "Show hidden files and folders". It will show up then :) You can use dropbox.com to upload the zips.
Unfortunately, this feature isn't implemented. It would be nice, however.
Since the question came up here... do any of the random heroes ever come with magic or do they all require essence from your sovereign?
As far as I know there are no innately magic-using heroes. You have to imbue them. It's certainly possible to mod in heroes that start with essence, though.
Adding to the post above, you gain one population per turn as the default (meaning, you always have +1 prestige). It's possible to have negative prestige with some improvements (Fallen in Beta had a sacrifice pit for -prestige), at which point people will be leaving. But your prestige amount is exactly how much population per turn you'll be gaining.
2. What is world research?
"Goodie huts" (tiles you can explore for rewards) go up levels, and this research allow
For crashes, go into your C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental folder and upload the zipped crash dumps, and link those here too :)
Yep, you did understand him correctly. There will be another update tomorrow.
It used to be called "World Difficulty", which had a bit more context to it..
You can pan the map by holding down the left mouse button and moving mouse around ;)
Besides, it's not like stores doing sales actually cuts into Stardock's profits from it. It cuts into the stores' profits per box, and the sale is intended to sell more boxes instead. Same concept with general coupon code sales. Give some money off on whatever, and you'll just get more people to buy stuff from you to take advantage of it.
Unfortunately, no, Europe is not getting a retail release. It was explained that due to all the overhead, SD ends up making about $1 per box sold in Europe, compared to $30 in the US. You can always buy digital download, though.
It's the burning village you passed while getting through that pass/canyon.
I'm not disputing that. But his original statement was that it's disrespectful to customers to charge for expansions that fix the game. That's definitely true, but that's not exactly what SD is doing. If free patches fix the game, and expansions improve on it and add new things to it, that's exactly what every other game does.
I can't speak for SD but I imagine it would help them if you could provide a save where this happens. Upload it to dropbox.com and link it :) In the beta, end-turn hangs were usually the result of AI misbehaving. Since the AI was considerably worked on between beta 4 and release, it could be the case again. The saves are in My Documents\My Games\Elemental.
Right clicking on a tile with your mouse (or touchpad on laptops) also moves units.
Nearly every successful game has all its core features at release. As it is, it doesn't stand the comparison to day 1 Age of Wonders 2, or day 1 HoMM V, to give a few examples. A lot of the core mechanics are broken or very sketchy. That's what "unfinished" means.
Okay, but what core features aren't in Elemental? Bugs means it's unpolished, after all, not unfinished.
1- How do I know how many times I can move before my turn is over?
When you select a unit, look at the bottom UI bar. On the left hand side is the "Vitals" display, which has an entry for Moves. This is how many tiles that unit can move during a turn (I think forests count as 2 moves per tile?)
2- when I get a quest it says the person points out the location on the map but darn if I see it lol. How do i get to quest location like the escort quest
Content patches should be extras: thing that make a finished game that's self-sufficient even more awesome and to extend its life, not to make the transition between a beta and a final release. That's disrespectful of the customers. I don't know what happened here, and I don't feel the need to flame Stardock for this (the reviews will most likely be quite negative when they should have been awesome; no need to add to this), but I will say at least that I do consider this to be bad beha
Yup, noticed this as well.
Quoting Fading_Suns, reply 31 I'm having a camera problem as well. I'm unable to rotate the map. I use the mouse wheel to zoom and that works fine, but nothing else allows me to pivot the camera view. Am I going to have to change the settings of my mouse to get it to work? click and hold the mouse wheel will enable you to rotate the view
If the
Map zooms and pans fine on here. Scroll wheel to zoom, left-click and move mouse to pan. The cursor does get stuck on "Move" after a battle on the levelup screen, but you just have to find the magic spot where it registers the click on that + button. Aim a bit to the right of the button, usually :P For any crashes, go to your C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental and you should have crash dumps in zip files. Upload them to Dropbox.com (preferred) and provide links :)
Yep, the game is definitely much improved over beta, there's no question about that :) Glad you're enjoying it!
This is worsened because some of these small enemy parties force an auto resolve.
This isn't documented, but in the options there's a setting for tactical battle threshold. Set this to 0, and you will never be forced to auto-resolve a battle.
The game is fun, but does have some polish issues. Balance is a bit wonky in some cases, and there's not much in the campaign to help you learn the game (though this is changing for the actual day0 release coming up, we're still in "early" release). It seems to me the logical solution is: wait for the actual day0 update tomorrow and try it. If you don't like it, don't frustrate yourself and set it aside. After the 2 major planned updates (30 and 60 day, as Werewindlefr mentioned), try
