You can download an up-to-date version from http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com It is a bit annoying now because the patches are coming quick, but on a fast enough internet connection it doesn't take long and the frequency of the updates will die down. The archives from Anywhere can be installed without an internet connection at all, so you shouldn't have any problems with it.

or hop into #elemental or #stardock channels on irc.stardock.com (or in Impulse go to Community > Chat > #stardock) and ask there. They usually have some support folks around as well as people responsible for staging updates on Impulse, and should be able to help you.
SD is already working on the hotfix for the custom Sov crashes with any talent/profession that generates resources. Yay IRC!
Ok mr. cattess. So please give my 50$ back. And I will buy the game when it is ready to be BOUGHT. (in next february as you said?) OK ? Defense IMO will never work very well for a game with single unit
I'm on the side that thinks the game play mechanics are utterly broken, though engine can probably handle an overhaul of them. But to do that you NEED to go back to the drawingboard (in my opinion) and determine what the core game play features are really suppsoed to be, *and* if you can take all the features you want and make them some how coherent.
I don't really agree with this. Most mechanics are solid, just need a good balance and scaling pass. All the games you li
I think one of the biggest issues currently is that shards are required to do any sort of competitive damage to physical attacks. If shards provided a much smaller bonus, but the base spell damage scaled nicely, then shards would fit in much nicer, I think. I do agree that starting out with basically all the spellbooks cheapens things a bit. I'd rather just have a basic spellbook, and the rest found in-game.
In the meantime, and if it doesn't get fixed in 1.07, you can run Elemental in windowed mode. If the windowed resolution is the same as your desktop, it will have a full-screen borderless window, and you will be able to alt-tab without crashes. Some folks do notice an FPS drop when playing various games in windowed mode, but you can always give it a shot if you have to alt-tab often.
I hope that their idea of "fixing" this isn't to only allow 2 rings and 1 amulet. Champions need all the help they can get to be combat-relevant in the late game. Just limit champions to one of each item. It costs quite a lot of gold to buy all this stuff, if you can't just spam the cheapest jewelry that gives each bonus.
There are much better ways to fix scaling on champions and sovereign to squads than letting t
Like you, I'm hugely excited about Elemental's RPG aspects. As I post this I have a bunch of XMLs open and learning how to make quests. I'm actually making a mini-story quest arc (4 quests, 2 are done and working but need the fluff like proper tiles, proper creatures in battles, etc) that will also reward some caster items which the game is sorely lacking at the moment. It's a fun learning experience as I try to figure out the limitations of quest making (already ran into a few that are kind
We'll do better.
Honestly, Frogboy, if you restructure the beta program slightly such that the last 1 (or 2, preferrably) months before launch is spent with the beta testers dealing with a full-featured build (all features and full content), this basically won't happen again. There problem with Elemental was that we the beta testers never got a build we could just hammer for gameplay, which is now the vast majority of complaints other than the OOM crashes (whic

I hate hypocrites, I have been a loyal Stardock customer for a long time (since GC1) but to see them do this is an insult to their customers. I have been playing the beta and could have waited for a finished product, but for the people that just bought the game they should and have every right to be angry. Life's a game of compromises. Some people might not want Impulse on their machines, but Stardock wants to keep updates to those who should get them (people who paid for the game). If it's "enough" that someone doesn't want Impulse for no reason other than not wanting it, it's certainly more than enough for Stardock to ask that people update through Impulse for many good reasons that aren't just "because". 1.07 is supposed to tweak the squad battle mechanics a bit so they aren't as powerful.
The bug was that they could. :) Summoned creatures aren't meant to gain access to your spellbook, but they do need the mana to cast their innate abilities. There are some creatures that spawn with mana that don't have abilities, so they either didn't add them yet or forgot to remove the creatures' mana.
LAN aside, the comments about hot seat support have always been very reserved and basically amounting to "maybe but probably not".
But the basic underlying principle is nevertheless the same. You should not sell an unfinished or broken good. Never ever.
But here's where a car analogy once again fails - if a car is badly designed, it potentially fails for everyone (see mass recalls of Toyota every other week). In case of Elemental, it doesn't fail for everyone. Some people have issues, others don't. Some people like what's there, others don't. It's not so black and white that you can undeniably stat
i do dissagree with this. i think if they get some kinks worked out, this method of city building could be very satisfying. it is certainly new and different for this type of game. I never liked how cities in a game like Civ never really changed. it could be the largest city in the world, but it still only took up one tile. no matter how much stuff you built, you never saw it outside the city screen (and a few buildings on the worldmap) it was all very unsatisfying for me.

So don't flame the guys flaming the game. They have a right to do so, even if we decided to jump on the "Stardock" train for the time being and see where it may lead us to.
There's a fine line between flaming the game, and flaming Stardock. As I've repeatedly pointed out, there's plenty of "This aspect of the game isn't fun, needs improvement". But a lot of threads are "Stardock sucks for releasing early!!!" That's not flaming the game anymore, that's flaming Stardock.<
Here's the old dev journal that asked for opinions between February 2010 and August 2010 release. I know it's all the rage now to say they released it early to make a buck, but the reality is they delayed it by half a year because *we* asked for it. https://forums.elementalgame.com/360476 Some quotes:
Right now, the schedule is this: Beta 1 in August Beta 2 in October (adds
Stardock had two choices for release dates (August 2010 or February 2011).
No, actually. The original two choices for release dates were February 2010 and August 2010. It was pushed to August because the overwhelming majority of people asked for it before the beta even started.
1. Brad has repeatedly stated that due to their revenue streams from other products, they don't need to rush or depend on games for income. So, they didn't need to release early to get people's money. When you have this kind of LUXURY situation that's nowhere near normal, why not polish and sit on games til they're more release worthy instead of releasing what is essentially still a rough beta? Don't most creators want people to love their products instead of universally bash them for
I'm stating this for the benefit of all of this company's fans and supporters as well as the company it self.
Technically, no. You speak for nobody but yourself and certainly not for *my* "benefit". Your suggestions are entirely self-destructive. A game can't be good if the issues people have with it are not reported. If there was no community involvement in a game, it would never be good. If you don't feel like your time is not well spent offering sugge
