While there aren't height/width sliders, there is a model scale value. So while you might not be able to make tall but extremely thin or short but very wide races, you can make tall and short proportional races by scaling the model appropriately.

Reply to Hotseat in War of Magic
Hotseat is really easy to add

Of course LAN is much harder
Yes, obviously changing the entire game structure to use sequential rather than simultaneous turns is a lot easier than using a different connection method for the same MP game. Honestly, guys. Elemental turns are simultaneous, everyone goes at the same time and hitting end turn goes to the next turn for everyone. Hotseat, by definition, has only one player doing a turn at

You don't speak for anyone but yourself, and you have no authority to speak for anyone else. If you want "Epicness", say you want Epicness and people who agree will post that they agree. But don't pretend that you speak
I guess I'll just wait and see what it brings to the game before forming an opinion, surely the current system wasn't THAT bad
I don't think the mana system is bad, but the spell damage/effects system certainly is. I can't say I have a very strong opinion on global mana or per-character mana like we have now, I just hope this isn't the only change they do to the magic system because I feel it's far from the most important one.
As you said the games are really different, all I wanted to know was just WHY he thinks Civ is a simpler game. Many of the thing you are pointing do not appear reallly hard to me, and they actually cancel each other since Civ AI has lots of things to worry about that Elemental AI hasn't. [edit: also, Elemental AI is not very good at managing Sovereigns ATM, so I'll leave that point out...]
Well, I was responding of why I think he thought Civ was a simpler game :P If I w
What makes you think that?
Perhaps because the AI in Civ only needs to worry about building its towns and normal troops, while Elemental's AI needs to worry about keeping its Sovereign alive, recruiting heroes, equipping heroes/sovereign, leveling heroes/sovereign, fighting monsters, doing quests, clearing goodie huts.. The games have their complexities in different mechanics. Civ doesn't have the RPG stuff that Elemental has. It's a straight up Empire builder,

Chances are it's legit. Especially if it's not actually asking any info from you. :P There have been complaints on the forums about people not getting their boxes, and some getting doubles, and as far as I'm aware the sales department was supposed to look into it. If they found some problem with a shipment batch to which your order belonged, it's entirely possible that they just decided to re-ship the whole batch instead of waiting for people to contact them.

Oh I wasn't saying that the Titan transfers his mind into the Channeler's, that doesn't make sense for a lot of reasons (the Titan's being much more powerful for one). It's a lot more plausible (as far as plausible goes in fantasy :P) that the Titan's mind is so much more powerful, it can easily twist the Channeler's without him realizing it. For the channeler, it's like getting a taste of great power from the shard, and wanting more. He has no way to realize that the desire for more comes fr
Or the focus for this faction would be simply that of the unfortunate Sovereign that gets corrupted by the Titan in the first encounter and from there, road to hell all the way, baby! So the Sovereign that the player creates (if it doesn't come with one by default) is nothing but the future vessel of the Titan. Body snatchers rock.
That would be what I'd say as well. Channelers are naturally drawn to the magic of the shards, and if the mind of the titan was stuck in th
Quoting Rishkith, reply 158 I might suggest that both Stardock and their customer base has grown to where a Community Manager might be necessary to filter interactions with customers. Not as forum moderators, but more to properly identify who your customer base is and identify their wants. I repeatedly saw Stardock people claiming baffling things like the customer base wanted simpler or faster (shorter) gamep

Obviously I don't know how it's structured, but one would assume the people who're working on MP aren't the same ones who are supposed to work on balancing. The digital distrubution market is very competitive. There are always sales going on. Hell, look at Direct2Drive. Every single day until Sept 30 they put 2 different games on huge sale, and every week until then they also have a selection of games for $6 (this week, King's Bounty: Armored Princess down to $6 from $35). Weekend sales are very common on Impulse, Steam, D2D, Gamersgate. Even the proprietary stores like EA's online store, have deals. Over labor day, everything on EA's dig
It is largely irrelevant whether they are vocal or not, the issues still needs to be fixed. It would be naive to believe that the majority are happy about the state of the game, simply because they aren't vocal about it. You'd find that it would be more likely, that they simply move on from the game and don't bother looking back. That is bad for potential future customers.
Of course it needs to be fixed, but not to the exclusion of other promised stuff. People were prom

Balance and mechanics are important to fix, but everyone seems to be forgetting that there are a lot of people who don't really have strong opinions on the matter. All 90,000 people who bought the game so far aren't on the forums wanting stuff rebalanced. There are bound to be lots of them who don't mind the current state of the game, and just want to be able to play it with friends. MP needs to be turned on now and fixed up as needed along with the SP.

And within 4 years you're still using only 10% of that expensive PC's potential. Almost 2 years ago when I was getting my new PC I decided to grab two GTX 285s in SLI, figuring that'd make the PC last longer since before the rule of thumb was 2 years for a gaming PC before it needs an upgrade to keep up. To date, I have never needed to turn on SLI. Every single game (including Crysis) runs fine maxed on the single card. And with many more games going cross-platform, there will be fewe
The system is messed up if only because to hit and damage are the same stat. Higher attack does both better, and that's throwing it off. So the counter is to make the insane randomness where one time you might hit for 25 with that 35 attack weapon, and then next time...2 If weapons had their own damage and their own to-hit separated, that would solve a lot of the problem. You then limit your N (which would be damage) without messing with to-hit.
There is no "
