Thanks! I'll try that. See you again for a future game here![e digicons]B)[/e]

Hello, Folks! Sorry to disturb your thread but it's a noob question so you'll forgive me. [e digicons][/e] I'm about to start my first MP game of Dominions 3 somewhere else: thus I have downloaded the mods, created the "mods" directory and activated them, I have downloaded the map files and put them in their directory, I have created the pretender with the Game Tools and given it a password. According to the guys planning the show, my last thing to do

Into creating powerful lieutenants? ... I've not been following the boards closely in recent weeks. Did I miss some news that Essence is back in the game as a sovereign stat that's also a resource you can invest? That would make me very happy, but it seems awfully like a Fr
It sure was a cool feature in AoW2 too.
In my point of view, it doesn't need to be very strictly balanced since the game is not contaminated with 'balance-everything-multiplayer-fever'. I would like to see that the research time wouldn't grow incrementally but, after some time, the techs you choose have research time proportional to their power and value, allowing you to adapt to your foes. Either you are in a dirty fight and need those 5 little advances the next 100 years or you are at peace and gamble that yo

If some of these events can have some history unfolding like in GalCiv I about "someone found something, you should investigate the matter" and when you do nothing some disaster began, that would
GO, Climber!! Your original thread was one to excite our gamers' imaginations (while relying on what Stardock said, it must be said). We really need some people to focalise on some sapects of this game and hold the developers 'accountable' for making it happen; keep kicking that '5-ways-horse', we need those 5 ways to play.
But, also, you really can't work on teh AI until you have most of the game finished, so Brad working on WoM now really doesn't take any resources away from FE. I remember some things he said and those are: "There are alot of things gamedevelopers can learn from Master of Magic" - From the developerjournal where he plays Master of Magic "Elemental: War of Magic will be 1/3rd Master of Magic, 1/3rd X-COM and 1/3rd Populos" - Said a loong time ago
You forgot the part where it was question of "epic battles" and "like th

If I could go back in time, I'd bring a copy of the results of WoM with me to the start of the project and tell them "start by copying MoM/AoW:SM or this will happen." You could do a lot better by taking stuff from those games (where it worked) and simply iterating on it.
But we told them so during the Beta. We said what is great in which game and what we wanted to see in this game. Alas, this school of thought clashed with so

Dynasties would have been useful to add options into the diplomatic way. For now, I shall juste take Derek's word that a good design exist and will probably be implemented later. Better to focus on a few points and make them right than make everything bad! (But I'm waiting at the diplomatic corner!) I wanted to comment on this:
In all honesty, I feel like the new vision is less of a 4x experience and more of a rpgish war game.
Digital or paper, it doesn't matter as long as it covers everything. And I'm not asking for either a list of everything in the game or a strategy guide but for a manual explaining (even with screen captures) the different screens, the background of factions, how the world reacts, the parts of the game (diplo, tactical combat, city building,...) and actions of the game. And a step-by-step description should be that of the tutorial like in page
So for my money, the best way to fix this is to beef up the diplomatic game such that someone is just as useful to you alive as they are dead. When we'll have a journal about Diplomacy, it would be time to bring back the walls of text and the many ideas. I particularly HATED to read that independant city-factions were

Since it's somewhat off topic here, I'll keep it short but I take the opportunity of Derek reminding us of the major options of the game:
In my mind the core game asks the play, "How do you want to to to conquer the world?" And there are 5 possible high level responces: 1. With armies (focus on military techs) 2. With magic (focus on sorcery techs) 3. With cities (focus on civilization techs)<b

Too late for yesterday or months ago, and probably much too late for War of Magic anyway. Like you say, let's let the team fix all others features BUT Fallen Enchanteress MUST have a tutorial the day it's gonna be sold; I don't care if they put it in the day before . It just seems to me to be mandatory for a game.

It seems to me like the real problem here is that there is no tutorial campaign that teaches you how to play the game. WHat's up with that? I just want to learn how to play so that I know what I'm doing
It's because the game is drastically different than what it was as release . Agreed they need this for new players but they've been focused on stability recently such as memory and graphics cr
