Not related to previous posts but since the thread title matches... Yoohoo, I have pre-ordered! So I followed the indications in the confirmation email, I installed Impulse, then: 1) Go to the registrations area of Impulse by clicking the question mark near the top right corner and selecting "Register a product with Impulse...". 2) Click the "Add Registration" button at the bottom of the window. Perhaps not but, by asking questions about politics or one's internet behavior in an Elemental poll, you opened the door to off-topic remarks. Those are cool ideas. They don't have to be necessarily implemented like that though. Even if I'm not a Warhammer geek, they make me think of two peoples: - the Empire, where ordinary people hate everything magic. They have great combat troops and their mages are strictly controlled inside a few schools. Repurgators ensure no one messes with magic and they search and destroy demons and servants of Chaos. - the Dwarfs, where magic is not used as such but embedded into o

It's something I definitely want to put into our next game (a fantasy strategy game) in some form so that the AI really does learn over the course of multiple games.
Once again, it's a bit like in Caesar and Pharaoh. People need bread and games; they want theatres, temples, stadiums... Ah, what joy it was to build the Coliseum, or the Stadium Maximus![e digicons][/e] But here, we won't be a mere mortal but the channeler. I demand the power to sculpt the cliffs themselves to greet friends and foes with greatness, just like in LotR1 (what was it called, the Argonath?). That said, will there be gods to whom build temp

A major element of the strategy is getting people to come to your villages, towns, and cities. It’s not merely about cranking out enough food (though that is obviously a very important factor – people need to eat). It’s about making your civilization more attractive to those who are scraping by in the wastelands.
Sounds like Devs are laboring some mechanism to do so. I am not especially h

I don't pirate or use pirate copies but there's the down side: I don't buy a game which can't offer a demo first, or else I wait until people on forums tell how it's great and already patched. At that time, the price could well have already dropped; not my objective, but the producer/retailer 's loss anyway. Give us demos! [e digicons]B)[/e]
I think you've misrepresented my stance. I was trying to say that it would be confusing if player was forced to add numbers like 1.41 and 1. 7 and 5 are still quite accurate and easy to add for anyone knowing the multiplication table. I think 7 and 5 are the best compromise. For computers 7 and 5 is likely to be a good choice because float arithmetic is slower than integer arithmetic, not to mention lack of rounding errors. The whole poin

Diseases could also be tied to a specific place, such as tropical forests or swamps. It's like in Dominions 2 and 3: when playing the lizardmen, you got the Miasma dominion and any hot-blooded living entering gets the disease and looses 1 hitpoint a turn...until they die, even if they go out of the zone. That would do some nice addition to the thread about wild zones in the map. There could be a land of swamps with a nation of lizardmen or perhaps just ruins (and loot to gain) guarded
I wanted to mention a wonder idea that was brought up in the weather thread, though I think unrelated to weather. It was the idea of turning old battlefields into places of power where you could build a great wonder. Like the wonder could only be built in a place that has seen many many deaths, like a wonderous tomb or grave site that perhaps could perhaps help channel undead powers or something. I could
I've been slowly moving from RTS/TBS/strategy hybrids like Total War with plenty of action to pure TBS/strategy games that aren't heavy in the action department. I'm finding that the more a video game simulates a board game feel, the more I like it. The Europa Universails series seems incredibly deep, but I was scared away by GalCiv2 for years and have finally begun to learn it and love it. So would anyone recommend the Europa Universalis
