Thanks for the response, and that is cool that it will be moddable to do things like that at the XML level without having to get into Python. (I have never modded and am not sure how deep I will get into that, but I do understand XML, so I am glad I will be able to do some minor stuff with XML only.) I am wondering how many resources we can expect in the canon game, or is that yet TBD?

I really like the direction that resources are moving in - global but also finite - there are discrete units of material x. I think this is really a positive direction and will be fun. I am just wondering if created stuff might not also be stored in a global warehouse this way. In other words swords, armor, all that kind of stuff, going into the global inventory. Reasons I think this would be a good direction to go: Allows you to build up a large armory of equipment, b

I'll repeat I am happy with the direction of the economy - I can't wait to see it in place. I do NOT like Civ IV type of global resources, but I really LIKE a global stockpile to work from. It makes the world seem more real than just having a list of resources that are available. I see that there is a section of the main UI that tracks the amounts of the basic resources. A couple of things that I would LIKE to see in addition: Clicking on that small portion of the UI, I would

I think the economy changes are definitely a step in the right direction. I was laways in favor of global stockpiling of resources. And now resources actually do stockpile instead of just globally "available/not avilable" toggle. Very very happy about this.

Rather than the arbitrary 33% completion, I like to think of it more in terms of arguments for moving to beta 2 and arguments against beta 2. And those arguments should be applied to beta 1Z, not 1G, obviously. But IF I were to do a hypothetical on the current version: Arguments for moving to beta 2: Recent purchasers will become beta testers; more beta testers = good. Pre game setup is looking pretty good. Research is pretty good. Argume

Sorry, I was not intending to go lawyer on you. I just wanted to know if you had any guidelines. Based on the poll I did, I would guess that most people feel that the gameply is 1/3 of the way there. Is the game 1/3 complete with the gameplay where it is and no real graphics to speak of? No. But we will see what 1Z brings. I would say that if it as big of a step forward as you hint at, I will be voting yes.

Frogboy, Before voting I would like a better idea of what 33% done means. After moving on to beta 2, are you still open to large changes in the basic gameplay (single player) or does it mean that we think the basic direction on each element is good and it is mostly a refining and adjusting process? Please define 33%. Some specific benchmarks that you are asking us to sign off on. I agree with your post from the last survey I took - there are some pieces like pregamre s

I'm with GW on this: Some of the quotes given are OK, but many do not really work for the fantasy genre. Also, some people are going to want to go a comedic route: ("You're shafted" for archers for instance) others are going to want to go a more serious and classic route - ("why fight an enemy face to faces, when I can drop him at sixty paces?" - archer again) Or maybe as a setup option you could chose what type of autogenerated quotes you want - humorous, poetic, stoic... Thanks Frogboy! So it appears from what you stated that the people who took the survey actually have a very good grasp about how far along things are! I think that is a great testimonial about how open you are and I really appreciate how you keep us informed. Even though I do not want the game before it is perfect, I am happy to see you bucking the trend and still holding September out as the expected release date. This confirms my suspicion that even though we are only 29.5%

I hope these surveys are not only helpful to us fans, but also provides useful feedback for StarDock. I found it interesting that looking at the gameplay as a whole (and where it needs to be in regards to going to Beta 3) over 90% felt that we were less than halfway there. I thought that was a pretty mature and measured response. It is clear the majority that took the survey are more concerned about quality than rushing the beta process. I think that is awesome. I also found i

RESULTS with 59 particpants.... 1. As we approach Beta 2, we know that the primary prerequisite to moving into beta 3 is that the gameplay is pretty much locked down, solid and awesome! This question is NOT intended to be a push for Beta 3, as we all want an awesome game regardless of the time it takes. That being said, how far along t

The best RPG campaign I ever played was in RoleMaster, we had a campaign that lasted about 2 years. This was back in the early 90's I think. Party was Ter-kahn, a paladin, None too bright but a master of arms and armor. He is a devout follower of the god Tyr. Although a natural leader, his leadership is not appreciated by the independent minded Jasmine or the reclusive Denryu. Ter-kahn presents himself as a simple man who simply holds to his beliefs, but his surface appearance of simp

Hey everyone! As Beta 1 begins to wrap up, just thought I would put up a survey to get people's feelings of the "state of the game". I realize this is just going to be impressions and may not, in fact WILL NOT reflect reality, it is just a measure of perception! I hope you all participate and enjoy the survey! I will post results either Saturday, or when the survey is taken by 100 people (the limit for a free account). Sometimes the limit is hit early, but the last sur

[e digicons]:omg:[/e] There's a few things about roads - I think that the good ones should be costly enough that they are going to be quite rare, and then a lot more dirt trails and such. I also hope that they are very helpful movement wise for some units, such as siege engines and trade and such, but I also hope that some units such as horsement and infantry

Most of the rest of the world is not even aware of Elemental yet, or it is a distant blip on their radar. I would be shocked and amazed if every person on this board does not have ample opportunity to upgrade to the LE before the unwashed masses are even considering ordering.
