A question: How close is beta 2 going to be to your current internal build? I think that if it is close then people will have a lot more idea of how close the game is to ready. It seems like a lot of people are disbelieving August as a possibility based solely on what they have seen from beta 1. Is beta 2 going to still have stuff disabled compared to your internal build, and if so, how much?

I have from the very beginning felt like the graphics ahd almost a stained glass quality to them. I thought it was a pretty bold move and I personally like it a lot. Yes you are not going to be able to get as sharp of an image, things are going to be more muted and the coolness factor is in the gutsy move to go with an art look that looks like art, rather than something that reaches out of the monitor and gives your retinas a sugar high. Certainly those who don't like it are e
Wow, August 24. Seems like Beta 1 took almost all of the beta time. I really expected beta 2-5 would get more time, even with combining 2 and 3. I am sure a lot will continue to be done after release.... 2.5 months to get it out the door just seems incredibly fast. Of course with the tools you have developed you can probably build content at an incredible pace.
I realize different factions are going to have different tech trees - at least I am pretty sure that is the case. My question is say I repeatedly play the same faction. Will I be able to memorize the tech tree or is it going to be somewhat random from game to game, even for the same faction?

While I can understand disliking a different art style, I certainly hope it wouldn't RUIN a gaming experience (edit: here's an IGN article where we lay our artistic decisions on the table...if you're interested http://pc.ign.com/articles/101/101936
Does this mean you can edit the game while your playin, add something then go back to the game? My guess would be probably not. When you start a game and you wait for the world to "be created" It is probably pulling all of this information in. My guess is once you are in a game, you won;t be able to modify things and have it take effect in the current game. I'm no game designer, but I ahve done a good bit of programming and t
Was anything ever decided on the idea of a technology greying out and possibly being learned as a bonus tech?
It really seems like the sky is the limit with Elemental. It also sounds like the internal build is vastly farther along. Will beta 2 be pretty close to your internal build or is it still going to be pretty stripped down as far as content goes?
In regards to the "richness vs. random" discussion. An option that I thought of is we could have some set maps, but then goodies could randomly be scattered around. An old tower that a few units could fortify and defend from. Random itesm like swords, armor, potions etc that the first unit to gets a related bonus for the duration of the fight. Some battles could randomly be "capture the flag" - each side has a flag behind their lines, and the first side to
In order of how good I think my ideas are: Richness vs. randomness: My original idea was to do both. Maybe have 20 premade tactical battlefields. Then random 40, 1-20 is the corresponding pre made map, anything randomed over 21 would be random generated. This could also be functional for people adding their own tactical maps, just add them to the existing "canon" maps and then random (#of maps) x 2. However I also really like the suggestion ab
All good news. And no need to beg for forgiveness Frogboy, it's yours for the asking. I'm with Raven X. Every now and then a game comes along that is special, that really takes things to a whole new level. Pyramid and Zork on the old TRS-80 Ultima II on the Apple on the PC there are so many - Archon, Master of Magic, Wing Commander (the game I upgraded to a 286 to play!), Civilization, Everquest (these are some of mine, I am sure everyone has their own list) This game is looking to be the first game in years to join my list of games that just ma

The Empire also scoffs at the Civics concepts of markets. Deals are made on the basis of leverage alone. Instead of relying on institutions, the Empire relies on leaders of capitalism to deal with it. Players can build Financiers (until we have a better name, feel free to suggest a better one) who enhance the city’s money making. I suggest "Greenspanbernankes".
