Like if I have a farmer who has a higher combat rating than a dragon (just go with it) and that farmer hits the dragon with his hoe, the dragon will be knocked up in the air comic-style? I mean I like the idea of specialized death/d
I'll second that. When the selected unit has used all of it's movement or action points, there should at least be an option ot autoselect the next unit with actions left.
Outstanding post! Lots of good info and just awesome screenies! It was not "need a change of underwear" good, but my wife is kind of glad those are gew and far between anyway...

I had that problem - there is a video option that fixes it, I can;t remember which at the moment, and I am at work or I would look it up for you. You may want to fiddle with those though (sucks that reboot will be required for each change I believe.)
EVERYTHING in Elemental is overpowered. You start out with a shard in your area but maybe no food. Or maybe you have food but no metal in your area. Or maybe you have metal but no horses. Or maybe you have a shard and horses but you have no crystal. Or maybe you have a shard and crystal but no good NPCs. EVERY game of Elemental should be a roller coaster ride of imbalance. But Fun. Though, N

Not that I am not grateful for the light snack, but I guess magic is going to be kept pretty tightly under wraps until Beta 3 at least. Snack? That's naught but crumbs on the hors d'ouvres tray. Someone's getting a nosh, but not us...
I was going to say that, but I couldn't remember how to spe

Maybe this needs its own thread, but one thing I DON'T want is a indicator of how well you are getting along with other factions. For one thing, how someone feels about you should not be so easily discerned. An AI that really loathes you should be able to "make nice" with you, if say, you are much more powerful than them. But should they ever gain the upper hand their true colors will come out. The relationship should be determined thru communication, not by a needle that progresses from "at

How about some retroactive point love for all my surveys? I will gladly switch from being a karma whore to an elemental warriwhore. [e digicons]}:)[/e]
I see where you are coming from GW. It seems like way back, like maybe a year ago I was suggesting instead of the good evil that instead their should be perhaps a dual axis of love/hate and also fear vs. respect (respect being that, even though maybe you didn't have a badass reputation, but you were acknowledged as being just and fair - honorable). But the idea never gained much traction.
Once there are other things to do with essence other than start cities, that will be a big deterrent to city spam. Yes, City spam is sitll an option, but your essence tank will be dry later in the game. I think that provides an interesting strategic choice - Go with a large but largely mundane army (possible because of large number of cities) or will you conserve your essence, have less cities and therefore fewer armies, but be able to have a strong magical offensive and defensive capability
Great news as always - glad I gave the forums one last look before bed! [e digicons]|-O[/e] [e digicons]v_v[/e]
The ethics of elemental: 1. Might makes Right 2. Survival of the Fittest 3. Do unto others before they do unto you. 4. A friend in need is an opportunity for betrayal. 5. To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.
The suggestion to be able to change the computer players colors during the game is excellent. In fact, that would be a GREAT patch for GalCiv 2. I absolutely hate looking at the comparison graphs because ALWAYS someone has a color that is almost exactly mine. And I really WANT to see that information.
Thank you FrogBoy and all you StarDockians! Have a great weekend, party your a$$es off! You deserve it!
Well, at least we got to see a little bit of the "elemental", now I am looking forward to the "war" and the "magic"!!!
I thought Stardock had made it pretty clear that adding stuff like this is a breeze compared to programming the editors and the game engine. I think Brad said they could add a spell or building in 6 hours, while making an editor or significant game engine changes takes more like 6 months.
It's not that I doubt they have this system finished or close to finished. It is that it is (in my opinion) next to meaningless to ask for bala
I was just wondering when we might see the full magic system in beta. A couple of the objectives of beta 2 are balance and pacing. I expect that magical research and the presence of magic in the world is going to play a HUGE, probably even central role in that. So why is the magic system being held back for so long? And during what phase of beta (if any) Can we expect to see the full magic system implemented? As much fun as I have had in the beta so far, it seems a little weird
I am just curious how many days you need for manufacturing and packaging, etc. In other words at what point does the code have to be locked down and the call of yea or nay on August release is going to be made? I realize this is not something that is normally publicized, but seeing as how you guys are so open about everything else, it would be an interesting tidbit of information.
Bear in mind that those saying they feel August is not realistic are making that judgment with no data. Because as far as how ready the internal build is, Beta 1Z = "None" as far as anything to base an opinion on. I am confident SD will do the right thing, whether that is to release or to wait.
Well, I think what I want from an AI is different than what FrogBoy wants to make. I want an AI that simulates a person. An AI that can make mistakes. An AI that behaves in sometimes illogical (i.e. emotional) ways. An AI that will bear a grudge. Take me for example. Most of the time I play pretty straightforward in multiplayer games, respect my treaties and do not go for the backstab. Most of the time. But if someone betrays an alliance on me, I will completely destroy myself
