Done. I am assuming all we need to do to send it to you is post it in the mod forum? If not here is the link again http://dl.dropbox.com/u/6606493/Denryu.xml
quoting post When you create this guy/gal, bear in mind that this is going to be an NPC. So don’t max him. He shouldn’t be as powerful as your sovereign so don’t use up your points. Not a single point on anything? Weapons and armor that doesn't cost points are fine? Default weapon is fine? If it is a question of having different building styles for each faction and those type of assets OR having everyone have smae similar buildings but aving the assets to do easier in game race customization - I change my vote for more customization over loare/faction development. It really boils down to specifically what we are gaining/losing from each choice.
If they focus on the canon we obviously are still going to be able to customize behavior to a large extent. We just won't have the tools to make unique models and equipment for our races. So you can create orc behavior, it just may look like a human (or an urxen or whatever) unless you have mod skillz.
There are two general directions to take: Eliminate the race distinctions and instead build out the Factions with more lore and artwork. Current customization of factions would remain. Expand the race distinctions and provide more assets and code to support players creating their own custom factions made up by their own custom races.
Frogboy, I am not trying to be dense, but maybe if you could expand on your two bullet points. If you went w
I would like to see the emphasis on the Lore. Any tools that can be included to make truly unique races is a big plus. I think that having deep lore in the game is what is going to make me fall in love with it. I think the ability to make my own races is what will keep the game on my hard drive. For the inital game I think the deep lore is critical, an expansion with tools for creating your own races down the road makes more sense to me. Trying to add the lore later is just go
My suggestion is to go for a "sweet spot". Let me tell you where MY "sweet spot" is. Any remarks on how gay that sounds - well just be aware I am already aware....[e digicons]X|[/e] I'm with you in that I would love to see the canon factions REALLY fleshed out and made very solid with lore and that should be revealed during the campaign. I am all about the sandbox, but a campaign to introduce me to the world is really a big plus. So, with that said what can be done to
So does this version from GoG: 1) Include the latet patched version 2) not require DOSBOX to run?
Whatever will give people the most flexibility without requiring modding skills. I would like to get into the modding, but am also a little leery about my success. I definitely think the idea of having mixed race armies is a plus, but the fact that units are designed mitigates that somewhat. Yes I understand that having the army with Elven archers with a racial bonus on archery, etc etc does add some cool flavor, I also think that having some truly unique units per race would enhance
One of the reasons people think the game won't ship until next year is because they think the public build represents the actual state of the game rather than simply the game units that have been released to the public beta testers.
Which is why I laugh at people who are overly concerned about it not shipping in September. We simply do not have the info to judge one way or the other. And I am not really concerned because one w

It's not so much Fanboi-ism as it is my general dislike for Civ game-play. I used to like the Civ game back in the day but every time a new one came out there was something screwy about it. Like a Wo
Omniron needs to think twice about the risk vs. possible reward of putting all his eggs in one basket.
Just noticed that the main Elemental page no longer says "Projected release date: Sept 1, 2010". Good idea imho.
Well personally, I would like to see us get to beta 3. I'm anxious to start the actual game stuff. [e digicons][/e] I swear, this forum is more entertaining than ANY game on the market, and it's free. Well, aside from meds for t
i have a feeling this game ain't gonna be released before march 2011 at least. while i'm happy that it's gonna be polished and well done, i hope it will not be old right when it's out.
I'll trust in Frogboy's estimates over your gut feelings. A lot of game companies float release dates that they know they are not going to make for marketting reasons - StarDock does not play that game in my experience. You hav
As much as I enjoy the current gameplay, I really look forward to some radical changes, some of which I expect I will hate and others that I will love...but it will be cool to see some of the big changes and hash it out on the forums - NOT based on what we have gotten used to - but on the merits...and see where things end up. I am very happy to hear that "the dust hasn't settled yet" on the gameplay and hope to see lots of major changes thru beta 3.
Much better stability this build for me.
I would be happy to do a survey monkey poll or of course you guys could do one. Or you could just start a dev journal thread asking for a single response yay or nay. And I am sure you won't even poll the beta testers until you feel that the current build is a worthy candidate to move on. Just wondering what we can expect and when? Not chomping at the bit at all, as I don't want to be asked until I can vote yes! [e digicons]:inlove:[/e]
Turn based without tiles...trying to wrap mind around... I guess i will have to wait and see it - I have a hard time imagining turns without tiles. I'd always pictured Total Wars type of tactical combat - is that totally off? I guess really no need to respond as I will see it within a month or two I am sure.
If you already think it's going to be out after september wouldn't it be wise to indicate it in the Impulse game page ? http://www.impulsedriven.com/elemental "Realease date : To be determined" or something like this. I'm not in the Beta testing and I remember seeing a release date for February 2010 a while ago. When it got pushed to august I just wondered what happened...
Um, they DON'T alre
How long are the turns supposed to represent? We don't know, to be quite honest Like Myles said, we're really trying to make the game fun in its own right. The moment we start trying to conform to a metric like "a turn is a day", we'd get some aspects of the game that feel too fast, while other aspects (the dynasty system, in particular) woud drag into the realm of uselessness. We're hoping our writing
So my guess is that since we are at 1Z (kind of implies the end of beta 1) that there will be no major gameplay changes to Beta 1 and all or almost all updates will be to get stability to the point that everyone (I mean 70%+ of everyone) can support moving to Beta 2. This is my guess, any comments on it's accuracy or lack thereof? [e digicons]|-)[/e]
