I may be mistaken but it seems like with MP in the alpha, and likely all MP at this point will be on their servers, they will be able to "record" every game. If they have some learning AI, they would be able to feed all the data of a game and let the game start "learning" from watching human controlled games. Or this could just be wild speculation and this type of AI learning is not even possible, at least not at the game developer level. I just can't help but think of "WarGames" and

Another couple of options that I like. Have your channeler stay in his tower, ala Master o' Magic. When he tries to cast a spell in a tactical combat, he has two options: 1) pay a hefty mana surcharge for casting spells over vast distances, or 2) Be able to project an avatar of himself into the battle. This avatar could cast any spells in combat with no mana surcharge as if he were present in the battle. However, if this avatar/astral projection is defeated in battle,

So would you say that the underlying technologies, the engine and so forth are complete at this point, or do you expect they will continue to be "tinkered" with during the remainder of the development cycle? I really appreciate your perspective that a major purpose of multiplay is to develop AI's that can both emulate human type of innovation as well as develop good counter strategies to human dirty tricks! Based on the fact that you did the GalCiv AI in a couple of months, I really h

I kind of probed about this in the last survey, just wanted to share and hear a little more in depth of how you like to play. I like trying lots of different approaches to see what works, but this is the "persona" that just feels right to me and is how I like to play when in SINGLE PLAYER mode. In multiplayer, all bets are off! As far as diplomacy goes, my character is to typically be willing to be friends with AI, but I don't really push for diplomacy. I tend to trade and oth
I agree, it seems odd to have a single player focused game with MP in the early alphas - it seems like DemiGod must have bit y'all hard enough that you are determined not to have a repeat.

This thread was in need of resurrection. Some things that have to be avoided or have heavy penalties. The ability to flee in turn one of combat (i.e. a superior force has forced battle with an inferior force, the inferior force starts the battle at the edge of the tactical map and simply leaves) this was alos a cheesy way of scouting out lairs and such in MoM. If combat is engaged, both armies should start closer to each other than they are to the means of escape. That way fast units on the non fleeing side can at least over
I'm the same - I want a variety of outlooks in order that we have a game that is widely popular. I do not want to alpha test with an abrasive jerk who's primary method of discussion is putting anyone that disagrees with him down, name calling, acting like he has an "inside track" with the devs, and basically has a very narrow view of how the game HAS TO BE OR IT WILL SUCK OMFG! Seriously, if alpha is going to be limited to ~100 people, and this guy makes that cut, I will wait

I kind of like the idea of having a magic skill associated with each element. You could start the game as a faction that was strong on earth spells, but if you keep throwing the fireballs and other fire based spells, your skill develops in the fire skill, and the skill affected either spell cast cost or damage for any spell in that school. Their could be cross-discipline spells that require a skill level in multiple schools in order to be able to research them. There could even be a s

There is no reason to believe alpha will be delayed at this point.
Wow psychoravin, You show up and start saying StarDock would be "ignorant" if they ended the game when the channeler dies, now anyone that does not want their channeler to be UNIVERSALLY HATED by all ai players from day one is a carebear, and anyone who dares disagree with you is "Unintelligent and uninformed" unless of course, they have played the greatest example of AI in a game ever, Spartan 1.13 - I guess if they have played it and still disagree with you they are just crybaby hac
