As far as I know, box copies of the game don't need internet to play. Patching the game in a computer without internet could be tricky though as patches are released only through Impulse. As I don't have experience in such situation, it'd be better if someone else to explain the terrifying details of updating a game in such situations. (f* egads!!)

When will people learn that Off Topic is bound to all the Stardock forums? Did we really need another thread about this across all those forums? Oh, I don't win as I don't take part of this. This post doesn't exist. Move on. Nothing to see. :P

Exposure to the Sovereign should be meaningful, prolongued and continued to have any real effect. Just hanging with your buddies in the local pub once a month won't grant them any Essence bonus. Continuous relation (not necesarily sexual) with the wife for many months (turns/whatever) can start to have some minor effects on her. The effect needs lots of time of you could have a balance issue of uberleaking everything in a few turns , making channelers feel

1. It's exclusive of Stardock like Galactic Civilizations II so I don't see it anywhere else but Impulse. (like Left 4 Dead being Steam's, for example). 2. If a 64-bit version is finally done (Havoc pending), Impulse will download a version proper for your system. If you system is 32, then the 32-bit version. If it's 64, then the 64-bit version. You only have to buy the game once. Linky to info .

I feel soooo tempted to try to mod a harem minigame in which you have to deal with jealous wives bitching with each other trying to get the attention of the Sovereign... Something a la Raise the Red Lantern . At the same time, that feels more like some kind of adventure/conversational game.

agasint lore Heretic! Bring the pitchforks! :P Remember that Stardock needs all kind of ideas so meh with lore. :P I do belive that wrapping an idea in a nice package helps though. marrying a peer would be nice. Didn't want to be stuck some arm accessory for a wife for next 1000 years. Flailed around trying to find something that would fit lore, but the only things really in a lauge with channelers are dragons, and they are not exactly wife m

[quote who="Cerevox" reply="20" id="2533617"]Not leakage like loseing it, leakage like regular people leak heat. Random stray radiation coming off him. Only if your wife spends lots of time wrapped around you, she should absorb a lot of it. Actually, it would be kinda cool if that applied to anywhere the channeler spent a lot of time or units that spent time near him. Just being near the channeler a lot should make a unit stronger. If the wife were to be a character/unit, you could always imbue her with Essence (essence leakage? Are you sure you want that? Your sovereign losing Essence points because of bed time?).

Yeah but some ideas are... wrongly presented. To totally ignore the "Sovereign death = game over" to present a system that doesn't use it (dinasties, you know I was talking about them), is just wrong. Unless somehow force a mind change in Frogboy about it. We dance barefooted over the sharp edge of a sword and while some of us try to not to cut ourselves and be in harmony with the sword, others don't mind hoping that their spilled blood will change the sword. Oh, Cerevox, I ha

Arthas is an idiot, not hot-headed. One of the reasons why after loving so much Warcraft 1 & 2, I hated Warcraft 3 (that and other details of gameplay). Oh, and everybody knows that Tolkien ripped off WoW. XD

I think that some posts and/or thread with the nice write up of the idea (but not only from the point of view of depraved channelers that only think of getting uber armies!!) integrated in what we know of the lore, can help a lot. After all, if they haven't thought about it yet (or didn't find reasons for it), then you would be making some of the work for them (and/or at least make them consider it). An avatar with the message you want to share also helps. I like your current avatar t

[quote who="MagicwillNZ" reply="5" id="2533273"]So do we need the Client, Standard, or Pro? Because right now, $70 for the ability to skin a game... it's a little much. No one except yourself forces you to buy the DCL and/or the expansion pack, No one unless you totally lack any kind of willpower. But then, who is to blame for that? That said, the real problem with DCL is price vs content. Seems quite a subjective topic and players usually base price on the number of hours while developers based it in (more realistic but not always precise and/or correct) development time. DRM stupidities forced by publishers are another hot topic against DCL, maybe
