In terms of UI, we use DesktopX. All the .dxpacks in Elemental (and Galactic Civilizations) are made using DesktopX. It’s a free download. Free download but which version for modding? Surely the DesktopX page has different price tags for the different versions. Q: When should we start modding? A: That would be Beta 5 which is scheduled for this Summer. It will be during that time that we start to release our own example mods. <

Or cannot Impulse have a "Desperate to purchase" option in which you can buy a game not of your region paying your local price instead of the cheaper Impulse price?
Civ5 will be coming out this fall! I hope that doesn't cut into the success of Elemental. Maybe SD should slow things down and see what they're up against. You wanna make sure you can top Civ 5.
Doomsayers already? Why not cancel Elemental? Civ V will come with mod tools and someone will make a "Raise from Hell" mod or something for those who want a fantasy TBS. :P Some people will never buy Elemental becuase they only like the "real" style of Civ. I personally wouldn't mind not to have to read numbers (or percentages) but to read words. Something like in the Fudge RPG: Terrible, Poor, Mediocre, Fair, Good, Great, and Superb. Add to them some bars to indicate their actual "level" and how much until the next word. Not a popular idea, I know. But sometimes it'd be more precise that some % to describe me how well I'm doing. I can have my accountant doing all the numbers, which I could check any time, but getting only a ge

So we see the classic theme going, happy to start, bad guys come, fight, blows up the world, now we rebuild. I can see how the game mechanics are writing the story, which is a fine approach to take. I see the components of ideas c

The only problem I see for weather is how it works for the different terrain types. You know, the "life" lands and the "death" lands. Maybe just cosmetics would be enough.

Especially interesting to see in the city building department.
Out of topic but... Stardock badge? Not that I doubt you but I find myself curious by the lack of it. Will the minimum space between cities increase too? And some extra info about why the Sovereign is the only one who can create new cities even in terrain that is already imbued and of his type?

THe problems I have with MoM, Diplomacy aside, is that it needs DoxBox (cycles and all) and resolution is too small.
