I have serious issues about associating the word "realistic" to the word "Quendar" (as a name for a fantasy race/species of a videogame). O_o That said, as a skinning work, congrats :D I'd have gone for the Quendar to Elf mod though, as the Quendar seem to be the basis for any elven mod.

DisplayName in the RaceConfigs solves that for common texts (as far as I checked but not a priority right now for me) and the only problem would be the Menus. Maybe when modding the menus is possible, it can changed somehow.

TechTree files define the techs for the faction, Techs defines the content of those techs. That's why you need both files for each faction. Also consider that if you change things in the Techs file, like changing _Trogs reference to _WhateverNameYourRaceHas, you may have to change other details in other files. In my example, you would lose the access to Horse/Warg accesory to create mounted units unless you modify the CoreMounts.xml file or add a clone

Surely some people has already done that. CoreRaceTypees.xml is the file to play with to add a new race for the Faction Creator tool (or modding an already existing faction). Total customization requires dealing with Units (basics and other types) but if you only wanted smurfs, only the first lines of the faction must be changed.
Interaction between the game and some problem with the hardware? Does it happen when you try to recruit other Champions? Only if you recruit Champions? O_o
