edit: Damn you wintersong! it looks like you modified your own avatar to include the yeti before I finished creating all of mine, uploaded them, and created this post. I will not be shown up!
D'oh![e digicons]XD[/e] In fact, as soon as I finished reading and posting in the FAQ thread.
Q: When will the "beta" be? A: We expect to have an alpha out in the next 30 days that will be available on a very limited basis. However, we anticipate launching the beta officially at the Penny-Arcade Expo on September 4th. This beta will be available to anyone who has pre-ordered the game. Be warned though, our betas are not fun. They're real betas which means they're incomplete and unbalanced. But through these betas, users can help mold the ga
Depending of frequency of updates (Twitter's nature and all), you could clean the OP from time to time in a weekly basis, for example. Maybe keeping the most interesting ones but making room for new content.
I like this. Meaning that the AI might actually use human techniques to win a game. I wonder if it's possiblw to add to the AI that ability to learn from game to game. I play a game and I always use the same stategy for exemple. The AI after game 10 knows how I react and adapts to it. Is this something possible or is it just science fiction?
https://forums.galciv2.com/138274
I hope that the mod tools include to be able to make our own campaigns like the original (plus any modification that the user needs to make to it's rules).
I know it supposes extra work but you should edit the OP with the new info. Use unordered list btw. [e digicons][/e] Edit: fixed sillyness usual in me
If the channeler can bring land to life again, imbue other beings with essence, cast spells... it would seem silly not to be able to create some safeguards to prevent his/her own demise. In fact, surely Stardock has been conssidering that idea all the way. But as Frogboy already said, we'll be able to test this and more in the beta.
You forget the fact that you are creating that faction during the game. You only pick up which type you want to play before you begin but once you do, your channeler is supposed to filter the individuals who join his ranks. And later members that could come would be filtered by the already stablished members of your community. Not against some kind of dinamic choice of faction but considering that we don't know not even how magic works, I don't want to imagine the pains to balance tha
Er.. but what about the channeler's need to actually go out there to revive the lands with his/her essence? A comment in Twitter makes it sound like that you won't do that from a distance (which I actually find good).
You are welcome.[e digicons]:D[/e]
My fun on GalCiv was always watching the different AI personalities fighting each other to see who would win. But then again, I'm a pretty weird guy.
As single player, you could have an option (goodness, everything is solved by the all mighty options) in which you put the AI in charge of your empire/kingdom so it plays for you while you go to work/sleep/study/watch/... until the game ends or you take the control again. It would feel lik
Well, won't you be playing the game in real time ? And is it not a strategy game? There, real-time strategy.[e digicons];)[/e]
While you make it...
Will the book be modable?[e digicons]:P[/e] I like the idea of an Elemental rpg... but it needs more than the desire for it. It would be fun if Stardock started their own rpg brand and selfpublished it.[e digicons][/e]
Print button.
The Inquisition in my country (actually named SGAE) could see that as an act inciting to piracy. Also, not the same.
...But it would probably be easier to offer a .pdf download ...
Heretic!!! Old school books for the win!!! Not that I disagree with a pdf being easier, but I want my books to be... real. I love the weight of a book in my hands while I walk (reading it). Those The Dark Tower books are heavy.[e digicons][/e]
People can bookmark this forum and check it whenever they want. [e digicons][/e] People cannot bookmark the Twitter page for Elemental and check it whenever they want. [e digicons]o_O[/e] Don't worry, BoogieBac, effort apreciated.[e digicons];)[/e]
Sounds nice... Will it be available outside US?
This x 3000 Any chance of Freak Edition of the game that includes the book? I would buy it. Some kind of limited edition. Or just add the book on Impulse and let me add it to my preorder.[e digicons]^_^[/e]
Why join Twitter? Cannot you just bookmark the page and go there once in a while?
Same here. Now whoever made that "unsucessful troll" pic is going to be out of a job....
Fortunately.
Supposing I were to get into the alpha (riiiight), my first multiplayer game in Elemental would be the second multiplayer (not counting hotseat and/or lan with rl friends) game ever for me.[e digicons]:O[/e] Thank you very much for the update.[e digicons][/e]
It only takes 5s to make a random map, but up to 1m40s to get into the game. We've gotten it down to 24s on my machine, I we feel there's still improvements that can be done.
To learn about these kind of details feels awesome to me.
Galactic Civilizations 3 could always borrow some elements of that game in the OP. Seems quite interesting
