I am wondering about this having to build on fertile land thing... Although I understand that this makes sense within the story of the game, it seems like a fairly arbitrary limitation. It sounds like the game is basically forcing me to build cities in rare, pre-determined locations.
It offers us a new way to play our usual TBS. In theory no more city spamming between other things. Maybe that can be toggea
Wintersong
Alpha or not, it looks great and makes me wish I could play it... just the main menu one, really. :( Just three weeks... just three weeks... just three weeks... :/
Well, I would rather not see "epic" sounding music on the ambient map. In the tactical battles, maybe, but the regular soundtrack shoud be more subdued.
Well, that's quite obvious. XD
The game is based around two diametrically opposed forces, good and evil, fighting it out. Diplomacy seems a bit unnecessary, but Espionage just seems out of place.
Just wanted to mention that the opposed forces as such desribed (except the good vs evil part) are for the campaign. Sandbox can be anything. And people will play sandbox mostly. And if it serves as reference, I could see some diplomacy in LotR and the true victory wasn't truly
I need choruses somewhere in that soundtrack. Epic choruses ftw.
Social life is overrated. XD
For real game tie in we need something like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Choose_Your_Own_Adventure
I loved those kind of books (even LotR had some). I prefered: <a href="http://www.gamebooks.org/gallery
WT... That's pure cruelty, did you know?As is an adults-only NDE. You have more than one soul?
What does that have to do with the fact that he is teasing us?[e digicons]o_O[/e] And the later was just a bad joke based on Elric of Melnibone. XD I used something similar for Champions Online about Beta Keys. Talk about reusing ideas. [e digicons]:P[/e]
Quoting Wintersong, reply 32 ... Science has room for the whole universe. There are more than four dimensions... I wish I understood how you're not getting me. Didn't I try very hard to show respect for science and make clear that I simply want 'science' type thinking kept firmly in the backround of the built game? It's like the only word you read in the block quote from me was "scientific." [/q
No one for a poor game. I wonder why... No, I don't.[e digicons][/e]
WT... [e digicons]XO[/e] That's pure cruelty, did you know?[e digicons]:'([/e] Beta Build! Beta Build! Blood and souls for a Beta Build!
Of course Elemental's magic needs to work consistently as part of a coherent world. That matters both for raw playability and, more importantly for players like me, for the ever-changing stories that a good TBS game generates. But trying to 'retcon' a scientific world view into a medieval fantasy setting is silly. 'Realistic' physics in the background can be handy, I'm sure, but I'm much more interested in seeing something like Fire not working
Photos are(were) considered Magic by some people. Yet, we know they are not. Why? Because we know how it works. Knowledge is power and ignorance creates fears, insecurities, religions, magics... The magic system in this game should have some rules and altough for the expert Channeler it could be considered Science, for the common folk it would be Magic. In the end, there is no difference between any of them. In both cases, it works.
If I get banned for showing boobs in the avatar... [e digicons]XD[/e] I'll let decide Landisaurus if the one I showed him fits the theme or if he prefers me to try again. What can I say? I'm just like that. [e digicons]XD[/e] In any case, impossible to beat him. I mean, seriously.[e digicons]:O[/e]
Here is a good question: What are the changes between the alpha and the beta? (I ask this because many people won't see the alpha, and the people who do won't be able to talk about it. I think this will be on many people's minds when the beta comes.)
I suppose that the alpha should be more about getting the game pretty solid for beta release? Trying to reduce game crashes and things like those.
It's like Schrödinger's cat. As long as I haven't yet gotten home to check my email, I'm in a state where I'm both in the alpha and not in the alpha. The animated "jpg" I used was under the size and weight stablished. (100x100 13.9KB) I... er... borrowed it from Katie Hofgard's deviant art site . [e digicons]:X[/e] At least, I know fromwho this pic is. I cannot say the same abou
Obviously anybody who says anything in this thread is concealing that they're in the alpha. HI!!!!!!!!!!!!
[e digicons]
And there I was still thinking about beta this month. [e digicons]:\[/e]
But we won't need to wait for much for beta anyways, right? The last thing I read from Frogboy said Beta for This month.
Runes of Magic. Will be mixed with Champions Online quite soon...
I'll play the beta no matter what, so no such worries about alpha. The survey nice and simple and interesting too.[e digicons][/e]
http://elementalgame.com/media.asp I don't think that anybody likes this minimalistic rudimentary cartoon style of graphics. I hope that animations will be very good and detailed because at this point the animations are the only thing that can save this game. Do you agree? Also how come Stardock expects that people go from superb King's Bounty: The Legend to this graphics? Like I said, the only thin
Beta 1 in august? Wasn't in in september? Not that I don't like the sound of that. Must mean no alpha thing? I was going to vote for a delay in the game release until august of next year due to players' feedback so naturally, I must agree with directly delay it and prepare a longer beta period. How many players should/can we allow in a game? 8? 12? 32? Just humans? Don't know, it's not like I'm going to play much multiplayer (unless something really weird happ
About animated avatars, as scoutdaog said. Some time ago it didn't work, now seems to work. In any case, don't bother trying as it would be considered an abuse, ok? Just strict jpg and png. ;) (there goes my animated Elemental avatar idea....) Spartan, really, of all the people here, you are one of those few who should never apologize for being busy.
Haree approves of Wintersong's new Avatar.
Let's say that higher powers made me see the light about my new avatar. (as reference, it was an animated jpg and not whatever people are seeing right now as they read these lines) XD XD XD
