I think this really takes Elemental from the unfortunately somewhat lackluster experience it was to what was highly anticipated. Been playing the new version for a few hours now and everything just feels tighter, more intuitive, and just plain more fun. Especially the magic system. There are actually a bunch of spells I want now! Though I'd love to see the spellbooks fleshed out just a bit more, or a couple more "special" spellbooks added. All that being said,

I agree that NPCs that do noncombat things should be able to improve those capabilities. I would also like to see, perhaps, valuable quests that require a certain champion to complete. For example, trade negotiations that you can't complete unless you send a Merchant champion there, etc.
I'll agree, especially since research structures end up in the civilization tree. Civilization research at this point seems far superior. I do think that a certain core of research should just plain be available - houses, etc. Maybe we'll see some alternatives when the other tech trees come up? My only other thought is to have convergent research at points. For example, maybe you can get Mining through Military research, since that's required for arms, or thr
I actually like this idea. What's the point of having bizarre tattoos all over your sovereign if the helm and armor cover them up after the first few turns? :)
Just an FYI, from the reporting guide:
Update: Unfortunately we've had to close off fogbugz to the general public due to a high volume of spam. For subsequent betas, please post crash reports directly on the forum. For the dumps, we recommend DropBox . Please do not upload dumps to sites such as Rapidshare as the limits on those sites can make gathering large numbers of reports quickly very difficult.</stro

@Publius - Not sure then, that's odd. I'd have to dig around in your PC to really get an idea of what the problem is. @Quellar - Yeah, that's pretty accurate. Basically, think of it this way. All RAM space needs to be given an address, so that the computer knows where to look for the appropriate information. A 32 bit operating system means that those addresses are 32 bits long. Each bit can be in one of two states (0 and 1), so a basic bi
I think I may have just disproved my own theory. I'm 150+ turns after my gold just went into decimal increments. Hooray for misleading coincidence!
Haha, I haven't run into that yet.
Took over an (undefended) town with my sovereign. It had few resources, so I razed it immediately after. The sovereign was still "inside" the town, and did not reappear. I was able to select the sovereign by clicking on her icon in the upper left, and moved her to one of my towns. When she went into that town and I then made her leave, she reappeared again.
The 3GB limit is for 32 bit architecture. You can surpass this by using a 64 bit system/OS.
Don't know if this will get fixed with the improved map graphics, but harbors do not necessarily orient properly. I'm sailing on the grass! <table style="
Apparently, I have been storing my children in a time warp. Yup! Your magical essence helps protect you from aging, so your children age faster than you do. ...
Don't my children have that same essence though? XD Plus, their father (with 0 Essence) was only 27. Hehe
I married early with my Sovereign (she was 21), had a few kids. Turn 182, I take a peek, and notice that my oldest daughter is 20. My Sovereign is 26. :) Apparently, I have been storing my children in a time warp.
This may be a red herring, but I noticed that it seems to start happening when I start getting non-whole numbers of gold. IE, I just built something that gives me +25% gold, so now I'm getting 12.5 gold per turn (or whatever). Tried to duplicate and was moderately successful - the end turn thing started happening about 15 turns after I started getting a fractional amount of gold per turn. More testing from others would be awesome.
Just another chime in that it's happening here too. Not consistently, but once it starts, it seems to keep going. I can exit and reload and sometimes get in another couple of turns, but it always happens again within the next 20-30 turns or so.
Finishes with "Will you…" No scrollbar or anything to be able to read more. <table style="border-collapse: collapse; width: 159pt;" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellp
Currently, you need to click once per .1 increment. This gets somewhat tedious if you have multiple characters leveling up at the same time, especially if they manage to get 20 points or more each. The ability to click and hold the +/- sign to add/subtract points would be great.
Grammatical error: Currently says "...takes two hands to wheeled." Should say "...takes two hands to wield."
I think if things start looking grim, there are quite a few of us who would help subsidize a medically questionable caffeine habit. :)
Suggestion for the financiers: I think Guildsmen sounds a bit too "empower the tradesman" for the empire. Vizier is pretty good, but traditionally that role involved a much more comprehensive scope than finances. I'd like to put forth Usurer. With all it's lovely "exploit the weak" connotations. :)
