This reminds me... I've been meaning to ask if you all would please not use profanity while I'm on the forum. You can use it when I'm not in the forum or in posts that I will never read, but please do not use it in posts that I will read.
Trojasmic
I've found that maintenance cost is another reason trained units are prohibitive. Perhaps if they cost a little bit less, we'd be more likely to generate large armies of trained troops.
I had a problem with immortal champions because I would have to kill the same 5 AI champions over and over again. In the latest beta, I think they've put a lot less champions on the map. That solved my problem of having to kill too many AI champions over and over, but sadly, I don't have as many champions either. I think that was their way of solving the uber-champion vs. normal trained units problem = put less champions on the map to begin with.
I'm really surprised they haven't simply added +1 exp while stationed in a city if you have the Path of the Governor skill. Even that's not enough, but it's a start. Maybe the engine doesn't allow it?!?
I have pretty good luck with trained units. If I'm careful, I can keep them around long enough so that they're actually useful during the mid to late game. I learned from one of the Seanw3's watch-me-play games to make heavy defenders armed with daggers then just defend with them during tactical battles. They take most of the heat while the rest of my spear guys and bowmen pick away at them. So long as Brad keeps programming the AI to go after the heavy def

Procipinee is the fallen enchantress. She falls for a young Kraxis leader who persuades her to join the Dark side and defeat the Sith.
My only issue with exp is that we don't get enough exp while fighting opponent's units. We get plenty while fighting lions, tigers, and bears oh my, but when Gilden rolls in with stacks of 256 hp each, we get like 25 exp. In contrast, one bear gives you like 38 exp.

[quote who="BlackRainZ" reply="22" id="3213211"] Quoting Voqar, reply 20I would rather see the game released in a state that works for the majority than see it need to be fixed via modding. Seriously? The game is still in development. This thread is garbage (unless Stardock pulls from it as suggestions). Don't you think it's slightly arrogant and insulting to proclaim that you can do a better job than a whole team of devlopers and designers on their o
I wish you could mod the UI. Here are some of the UI issues: 1. It's difficult to see which armies still have movement points left. 2. The list of armies and cities on the left needs a scroll bar. Yes, I know your mouse wheel can scroll the list; however, that only works half the time. Second, there's a scroll bar on the right side when the event list gets too long so why not have one on the left side too? Even better, we should be a
[quote who="seanw3" reply="15" id="3213180"]I am sad to say this, but the save games for this series just got corrupted. I blame the current economic situation. On the bright side, I will begin anew with a save from my current balance mod game. Since Frogboy is looking for strategies and tactics, this particular game will be the most relevant. I believe the game is at about turn 200. I am playing as Pariden and have a research and magic orientated nation. I am currently at war with
I got all the way through a medium map with normal/standard/default settings. It did crash once, but I was able to resume playing. I'm trying a large map next.
1) Fallen Enchantress 3) Need more summoning spells 4) Quests that reward a new building. We have quests that reward items, troops, resources, spells, etc., but none that reward new buildings that I know of. I've suggested this example before of a peddler with a seed that can grow into a money tree when planted in the city. The money tree is basically a building that produces 1 gildar per level of the city. I would also like to see some of the her
