Has anybody talked about the fact that my games are over before anybody gets to chain or plate? If there really is some strategy behind which weapons to use against which armor, then why not let chain and plate be more accessible early on?
I'm hoping that Beta 5-B (tomorrow's build) will feel like a "released game" and then everything after that is what you'd normally see in a v1.1.
I'm a little bit worried by that comment because not all of the bugs I've reported are in the .981 changelog. Maybe there will be surprises. Can someone please make me feel better?
Play EWOM cuz it makes FE seem even better.
we are looking at this issue and are also not fully satisfied with how the system works... It's a complicated issue though (as I'm sure you guys know) that can create other problems flipping it on/off, so we will see what we can do
I think you've already softened the blow by making Third Book of the Magic = 100% and monsters can no longer raze cities in the next patch.
I agree. I think the traits should show what they lead to like the Spell Advancement traits do now.
Yep, you should almost always take Quickness.
http://pastebin.com/DAsxkuY1 Unfortunately, it did not drop a .zip file in C:\ProgramData\Stardock\Elemental - Fallen Enchantress so hope the debug file is enough.
ye should make dat bilge rat Paul walk the plank!
I'm with OP. I only use weapons with counterattack or weapons with maul right now. Sometimes I use spears. So here are some ideas: a ) Make counterattack a % chance to happen (like bash) instead of automatic every time b ) Nerf the damage on weapons that do counterattack c ) Increase the initiative, increase the damage, increase the chance of bash of blunt weapons d ) Increase the initiative, increase the damage, have backswing do double d
I'm starting to get shrinking blindness from reading these forums. Am I a darkling?
I've also seen the opposite. Place an outpost on a fertile land and had several of the fertile land tiles disappear.
Go back and read Derek's forum post on this. "Overpowered" is a term that Stardock (i.e. Derek) actually likes to hear forum users use. Kraxis gets to start with 1000 gildar and recruit all heroes. What? That's overpowered! Procipinee can create outposts with spells and wears a crown that gives her enchantments with no maintenance cost. What? That's overpowered! Tarth can move through forests and swamps and are invisible to monsters.
I would like to say that in general I agree with the OP. There's a HUGE amount of polish needed. If I play for 3 hours I should not run in to 30 things that need to be updated/changed/improved.
I don't think SD would disagree with this statement. Beta 5 FTW!
Quoting Alstein, reply 15 The problem with a long beta is folks gets used to the glitches, and just accept them as part of the deal when they shouldn't. I disagree. I think the problem with long betas is that people assume that because a bug has existed in the beta for a long time that it means the team is destined for failure. You can't possibly count the number of times

One fire shard makes fire spells do too much damage. Getting two is a game ender. The problem is that evoker is
It's a dangerous world my friend. If your world difficulty settings are turned up high enough, this can and will and should happen.
Well, this would be the point in the beta where we see if the game can succeed. Beta 5 started out kind of rough, but as long as it is an indefinite cycle, I am not too concerned. I don't think anyone at Stardockia thinks the game is ready for release. But let's jump on them it if they do. Don't want it out in its current state.
Brad said in another post there would be two more major public releases. Who knows if th
Go big or go home guys. Remember Derek's motto. Spells are overpowered just like everything else is overpowered. Having said that, here's why spell damage isn't as overpowered as you think it is. shards: totally random. how big of a map are you playing on? what resource setting are you using? how lucky were you to find more fire shards than earth shards? evoker trait: totally random. how many quests and monsters
Yeah I'm surprised Derek hasn't touched this. Maybe he doesn't like the Summoning idea much. Brad had it in EWOM, but it hasn't gotten any love in FE. Perhaps we can just persuade him to move the Summon Ice Elemental, Fire Elemental, and Earth Elemental down one spell level so that they could be more useful until we get them leveled up ourselves.
Baby steps. Brad probably just wrote the AI subroutine "Move back when near death". Now he will add the following: a ) "Move back when near death unless opponent near death too"
I'm not sure the people here understand how Beta5 works. Beta5 is locked down so that all these bugs will get fixed. They have stopped adding new content so that they can fix all the bugs without having to worry about adding new ones. Beta5 could last a long time, like months, and still be Beta5. There is no reason to have a Beta6 because since they are in lock down they won't be adding anything new. Length of time doesn't determine the
For an empire-builder player like myself the greatest satisfaction in most strategy games comes from building up my empire of cities/planets/whatever (and in FE's case, also my heroes). Do any other empire builders feel like me?
So there's the first problem. If you came here to play an empire building game, then FE won't meet your expectations. FE is more a of hybrid, but as an "empire builder"
Never thought I'd hear myself say that. I'm winning on the "land grab" battles even on Expert now.
Update: After moving Janusk out of the city and back in again, it started working. Could this be save game corruption? Argh.
