Total War is not, Baldur's gate is. Baldur's gate had the option that would pause it every turn and you'd have to hit 'end turn' to continue. You could turn this off though and the turns would tick by on their own, which is how most people played since I believe it was the default. Total War has no such feature, so while mechanically it is turn-based perhaps, there is nothing like that on the surface. <em

So they can play the game on their one screen, and the other person will have a clean sexy angled view on the other screen. Or, if possible you could turn the screens around and put 1 hotseat player on 1 screen,
So, just for reference. Where did somebody say it wasn't turn based? I think that source should be brought to front, because from what I understand it is. If its going to be like "X-com meets dungeons and dragons" (I'm pretty sure that is a quote from somewhere in an article about elemental, possibly an interview) that means E:WoM is turn-based.
I can't really remember where I picked it up, but it's been said

Their use is simple - to cut down on transports. The bigger a game is, the greater the odds that by the time your troops get anywhere near a front line, the front line have been moved, the war is over, or the units obsolete.
I think you're overlooking something though. When your empire is so big that that becomes a problem, you shouldn't be fueling your war effort from the other side of your nation. Sending fast units
An idea just hit me. What about support for multiple monitors? While I'd have a hard time to see the entire viewing field extended across monitors (would there be much of a point?), thinking back on GalCiv2, apart from having an extra screen to watch Stargate Atlantis or Star Wars on, it'd just be excellent to be able to bring one of the additional screens up on a second monitor. Let's say that I had the entire Civilization Manager screen up, continously, while I do my turns.
Well there might be sort of turn-based. What is the phrase they use? Continuous turn combat? From what I gather it's some sort of turn-based system that occurs in real time. Or something.
I think that continuous turns are only for the actual game, in multiplayer. I've got a very hard time seeing the control of numerous units in a continuous turn format, in combat. Don't confuse this with simulated real-time, though. Simulated
