Are these going to be multi-room dungeons or is it just a new battlemap? I can't really work it out from the picture

I think there should be some penalties to riding a horse. For one thing, melee dodge isn't going to be great on horseback as a horse presents a large target and they can panic and buck their riders. Also they're not that hard to get techwise and they're fairly affordable in the shop too

Ah Ok so you played on without the cities. Did the AI try to hunt down your sovereign afterwards then? It's good to know that the AI didnt just sit back and let you do a quest win at least. I'm thinking that maybe there should be a plunder mechanic where if you lose cities, the attacker captures some of your resources and if the Ai captures all your cities then it captures all your resources too (including mana) - that might help things a little. This would

I don't like the 'one hero per group' idea much as it's sometimes fun to create a band of heroes. I think alot of it is improving the AI and balance fine tuning - I also think something needs to be done about buying things in rivals shops, it's kind of exploitative to pick up store items from the AI - maybe there needs to be a treaty in place to buy tier2 and tier3 equipment - also maybe the AI should get some of the gold from your purchases at their stores (a

Hi Haladin, firstly you shouldn't apologise for 'bad' english, I found this post to be highly articulate and better written than the majority of us native speakers. Anyway with regard to your comments on ranged weapons the issue was discussed alot earlier in the beta and the reason they stuck high initiative penalties and low damage on the ranged weapons was to tackle issues with kiting. With a mount, high initiative and a bow it was possible to take down all kinds

Wow there's been a bunch of posts on here since the last time I checked, missed all these posts by Jin. Well I probably am biased in favour of Brad and am making assumptions about Amanda but there's been many of these BS cases in the past and it makes me highly cynical about alot of these harassment lawsuits and consequently it demeans the importance of laws that are in place to protect people from genuine harassment. Looking at her accusations, it appears most of th

Yeah Brad you have photos of employees on there so I would suggest removing it for confidentiality reasons too. I read the opening statements for the prosecution and defence but didnt get beyond that as there's so much of it. Seems to me that she deliberately misconstrued things in order to exhort some kind of settlement from you - I also noticed she's moved onto 3 other jobs since leaving you guys - she's clearly one who's in it for herself and is happy to screw

Unfortunately I haven't seen much development in this area - ocasionally the AI announces they've cursed one of my cities but curse city is a hideous waste of mana - I've never seen spells like freeze, tornado etc being used. I do remember Curgen's volcano being used against me but that was in WOM - I can't even find the spell in FE. The AI DOES use strategic buff enchantments on units, champs and cities though so there ha

Hmmm, I don't have a twitter account but I can guess there's a few self-righteous types getting on their high-horse. We do indeed live in litigious societies and you know there's something wrong when high-powered businesswomen claim more in compensation for hurt feelings than some poor sod who's lost a limb in a work-related accident

I think alot of this will be fixed in the balance phase and with further AI work. Yep, champions can become godly but it takes time and you can do good things with units too - in previous beta versions units were OP (clubman rush?) and I'm much happier with the balance now than before

Well unit maintenance has gone down alot really and it's quite easy to get a decent gold income in the early game due to easy access to markets, bell towers and town halls. Also each champ now costs 1 gold to maintain so this seems OK to me. @Kinghobbit Getting your dude to level 20 plus having other tough champs too would be really hard to beat and this is where the AI needs to support it's units with it's own high level champs and invest points in

@ Kinghobbit You do realise that units can be equipped with fire resistant gear right? You also realise there's spells like nature's cloak and protection from fire which are specific counters to fire magic strategies too? The tools are there but the problem is that the AI is only as good as it's programming and so it doesn't take advantage of these things. Over time Brad will programme in more advanced AI strategies and you won't be able to get away with just flame

I play on expert and ridiculous and I find I use troops every game and they help out in several ways. In the early game it's often helpful to train a couple of spearmen groups to escort your sovereign - club militia are OK too. They help fledgling sovs alot in the early game although I can get by without them with a tank sov build - with any other build they're good to have early game. Slaves are especially good as you can rush out loads of these in no

How exactly is attack and defence calculated regarding groups now? There appear to be a range of modifiers in play now although I don't know the specifics. I do know from observation that 5 guys with basic spears now does squat against guys in armour

I find Water is a bit of an unusual one, the first 3 tiers don't feel very combat orientated, it's combat spells tend to just be disruptive - however when you get to tier 4 and 5 it really brings the pain with smashy face spells on par with fire. Not a bad set of spells overall IMO Tier 1: Meditation - this used to be a must-have for me in earlier betas although not so much now due to the essence slots restriction - I still use it though. Slow -

I think fire is good if you opt to specialise in it with a mage/warlock build, Magnar is clearly good with fire. I tend to skip over fire unless I'm specialising in it. Tier 1: Fire only gets one tier one spell as the other two have requirements. This feels a bit off to me and I think fire should get another level 1 spell, I've got a few ideas but I'm sure Derek has plenty. Tier 2: Burning blade gives a nice little bonu

Air seems very strong to me too, air mages get a great range of spells generally Tier 1: Both evade and haste are cheap and have good effects although neither seems OP. Evade in combination with Kraxis' ability is a bit much though, although thats due to fortify giving a really high dodge bonus, not evade. Tier 2: Again, air gets a great selection. It's city enchantment provides a nice bonus to trained units and guardi

Last but not least, water magic: Water Tier 1: Meditation - 5 mana city enchantment - city generates 1 mana per essence Slow - 5 mana tactical - unit must make a resistance check or get a penalty to initiative (-4 and -2 per water shard) Protection from cold - 30 mana tactical - all friendly units get +50

9 Replies 7,394 Views

Hmmm looks like destroy land and bloom/birth have been removed or are hidden away in some quests - perhaps they're exclusive to the campaign?

17 Replies 10,982 Views

Right 2 more to go, here's fire magic: Fire Tier 1: Burning hands - 10 mana tactical (2 turns cooldown) - does 8 fire damage (+4 per fire shard) to an adjacent enemy - damage halved if resisted Candlecloak - 30 mana tactical (also requires fleshbound tome) - all friendly units gain a flamecloak and enemies attacking them take 3 fi

I've been meaning to get the rest of these up, so without further ado, a summary of earth magic: Earth tier 1: Enchanted hammers - 20 mana city enchantment - +5 production per essence Lower land/raise land - 50 mana - edit a land tile for free - although the blurb says you can't make mountains, in practice you can Nature's cloak
